Today I am excited to share my playthrough of Beyond Two Souls as this was the only David Cage game that I have never played before. This came out during a time when I moved to a different country to study and did not have a PlayStation 3 available to me. And as the years went by I never got around to experiencing it, but I am happy to say that I have now and can add it to the archives on this channel.
Beyond Two Souls is a cinematic experience that tells the story of Jodie who has been connected to an invisible entity since birth. We control both Jodie and the entitity known as Aiden. Thereby we get different types of gameplay as Jodie's perspective simply plays as an adventure game while Aiden lets us do supernatural things like move heavy objects or take over people's minds.
The original game released in a non linear way in terms of its story and I think that was a big mistake. They offer a remixed version that tells the events in a chronological way and I think it works much better. We really experience the growth of Jodie and what she goes through instead of being teleported all over the place and need to connect the dots in our heads.
There are also many choices that alter scenes and endings and there were some really memorable characters.
Some segments were a bit slow and lasted too long and I do think I prefer all the other David Cage games over this, but I am happy that I got to experience the tale of Jodie and Aiden.
