No one ever disputes the fighting prowess of Bat-Man because of the blatantly obvious entertainment factor behind his concept. That being said, nobody ever questions the logic either... So ask yourself "Would a little boy inheriting millions & an entire company go out of his way to train with ninjas all just to dish out justice without casualties?" Seems irrational right? One might be led to believe that he'd simply employ others to hunt his parent's killers and move on.
This core concept is WHY Mantis-Man was developed. Instead of coming from riches, "Emilio Finx Jr." is a minority coming from slums and poverty. He lost his family in the crossfire of two rival factions. Feeling the heavy burden of grief & no financial stability in the wake of his loss, he turns to the military which grants him years of fighting experience. Emilio would rise through the ranks quickly and become involved with a delta force squad joined by the likes of "Captain Galaxy." But one fateful day, a car bomb explodes disorienting him and his squad. As a result everyone injured in the process assumes Emilio K.I.A. but in fact he was really M.I.A. Its at this point Emilio meets "Erik Dewmon." Erik is a Norse mythological deity better known as Magni posing as a billionaire playboy in an effort to prevent the Ragnarok in his timeline. Emilio is adopted into Erik's war efforts and becomes sole benefactor of all of Erik's technology.
As you can plainly see, the resemblance to Bat-Man is spread out throughout 2 different characters to produce a more probable outcome. There are still elements of inspiration taken from other mediums of entertainment, such as the popular anime series "Guyver The Bio Boosted Armor." In Guyver, users pilot an alien armor which is comprised of all weaponized parts. Every aspect of the suit is capable of offensive and defensive capabilities. The same can be said for Mantis-Man's armor. A future video will explain just how in depth the suit really is. So for now, I hope you enjoy this conceptual speedpaint.
