In this week’s beat making tutorial, I will show you a few tips and tricks on how to get the classic hip hop 808 bass sound using Retrologue 2, Cubase’s built-in synthesizer. It will also work in Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, Fruity Loops and Ableton live, or with any synthesizer that has a sine wave oscillator, modulation and filter and amp envelopes. Then, I will show you how to stretch an 808 sample across the keyboard in Battery 4 to achieve a similar effect. Before you know it, your beats will be lit af fam. Enjoy!
