The Rough Ride: Unveiling the Underbelly of the Toro 4000 HDX with Myride
The Toro 4000 HDX with Myride promises a luxurious zero-turn riding experience. But is the reality a smooth cruise or a bumpy road riddled with unforeseen issues? Let's delve into the not-so-rosy aspects of this popular mower, helping you make an informed decision before you invest your hard-earned cash.
1. The Myride Myth: A Bumpy Reality
The Myride suspension system is the hero of the 4000 HDX's story. However, some users report that it doesn't quite live up to the hype. While it might offer some dampening, it seems the ride quality remains bumpy, especially on uneven terrain. This can be particularly jarring for those expecting a cloud-like experience.
2. Built to Last? Questionable Durability
Several owners have voiced concerns about the mower's overall durability. Complaints range from flimsy feeling parts to breakdowns requiring trips to the mechanic. These issues can be frustrating, especially for those tackling large yards or using the mower frequently.
3. The Cockpit Inconvenience
The 4000 HDX with Myride has a smaller area for the operator to sit than the standard 4000 HDX Pro. The looks and thoughts of the MyRide might attract you, but make sure you fit int he small area before you buy one.
4. The Pricey Gamble: Value for Money?
The Toro 4000 HDX with Myride comes at a premium price tag. While some find the features justify the cost, others feel it's a gamble considering the potential downsides. You might find a more reliable and affordable option that delivers a smoother ride without the bells and whistles.
5. Maintenance Mystery: Finding the Right Parts
Owning a less common mower can lead to challenges when it comes to maintenance. Locating replacement parts for the 4000 HDX, particularly for the Myride system, might prove to be a time-consuming hassle. This can be a deal-breaker for those who value easy upkeep.
Before You Buy: Consider the Alternatives
While the Toro 4000 HDX with Myride might have its appeal, it's crucial to weigh the potential drawbacks before making a purchase. Consider these factors and explore other zero-turn mowers on the market. Research user reviews and test drive different models to find the one that delivers the perfect blend of comfort, durability, and value for your needs.
Ah, the Du Du Group engines. A name that rolls off the tongue like a particularly enthusiastic pigeon cooing. But what about their actual engines? Are they the revving racehorses of the industry, leaving competitors in the dust? Or are they more like a sputtering moped, good for a laugh but not much else?
Let's crank the metaphorical wrench and dive into the Du Du Group's offerings:
Power: According to their brochures (written in what appears to be Comic Sans), the Du Du Group boasts engines with "unmatched oomph!" Now, "oomph" isn't exactly a scientific term used by engineers (unless they're discussing a particularly impressive sneeze). Independent tests, however, suggest the "oomph" might be more of a "putt-putt."
Fuel Efficiency: Du Du claims their engines "sip fuel like a hummingbird on a sugar high!" That might be true... if the hummingbird was hopped up on Red Bull and chugging maple syrup. Early reports suggest Du Du engines might leave your wallet lighter than a feather at a wind tunnel.
Noise Levels: Here, Du Du might actually be onto something. Their engines are LOUD. Like, "rogue mariachi band practicing in a metal shed" loud. Perfect if you enjoy serenading the neighborhood with a symphony of coughs and sputters.
Durability: The Du Du motto is "Built to Last... ish!" Look, nobody expects a Du Du engine to survive a zombie apocalypse, but surviving a trip to the grocery store without needing a tow truck? That's a coin toss.
Safety: Du Du assures us their engines are "as safe as a hug from your grandma!" This might be true, depending on your grandma and how enthusiastic her hugs are. Let's just say, extra-strength duct tape might be a wise investment.
Overall: Look, Du Du Group engines are... unique. They might not win any awards for efficiency or quiet operation, but hey, they'll definitely get you noticed. Just be prepared for a bumpy, noisy ride, and maybe keep a spare engine block (or two) on hand.

Our John Deere 325G is a wide-track model so it is 78" wide. Our Berlon Skeleton Grapple is 84" wide, but they also make 72" and 78" models that are exactly the same, just narrower. Our 84" model weighs in at just over 1300 pounds and the smaller models weigh slightly less.
Berlon adds a lot of items to their attachments that are not found on other manufacturers. The lower pin holes are protected so you will not damage your skid steer attachment pins. The hoses are protected by a hose saver. Also included is a needle valve so you can control the speed at which your grapple opens and closes.
The grey powder coat is thick and takes a lot to scrape off, even with use in rocks. Long term, even with abuse, this Berlon Grapple will look good for years to come.
As you would expect, every moving part is greaseable. Grease zerks are plentiful but also placed in protected areas so they will not be broken off in use.
Quality equipment is important to us to reduce downtime. Berlon has checked that box for us and continues to provide new products with great service.
Here are some of the Berlon Skeleton Grapple Features -
- 3/8” thick ribs spaced 3” apart, are fully welded on both sides
- Fully welded leading edge
- (2) 1-1/4” solid steel rods run through the ribs and are welded for greater structural integrity
- Dual, independent claws
- Cylinders - 3,000 lb., 2.5” bore
- Scrap ends, hose & couplers, hose saver, and needle valve included
- Deep-well rock dam keeps material in place while you are transporting or picking up more material

Built to Last
Berlon grapples are built with heavy-duty construction in mind. They feature fully welded structures and use solid round rods for tine support, ensuring they can handle even the most demanding jobs. This focus on durability is a major advantage, especially when working with tough or abrasive materials.
Choosing the Right Berlon Grapple
Berlon offers a variety of grapple attachments to suit different needs and machine sizes. Here's a quick rundown of some of their most popular models:
Light Duty Grapple: Ideal for compact tractors and skid steers with 50HP or less, this grapple is perfect for brush cleanup and other light-duty tasks. Available in 3 sizes: 60" for $2,590.00, 66" for $2,705.00 and 54" for $2,445.00 [based on lecinfo.com pricing, April 24, 2024].
Medium Duty Grapple: Designed for machines between 50-75HP, this grapple is a good choice for moving brush, logs, rocks, and clearing fence lines.
Root Grapple: With dual independent claws and heavy-duty construction, the root grapple is ideal for tasks like clearing land or removing brush with roots.
Extended Lip Grapple Bucket: This grapple features a bucket design with a grapple attachment, making it suitable for demolition, scrap yards, and other clean-up applications. Available in two sizes: 72" for $5,980.00 and 78" for $6,220.00 [based on lecinfo.com pricing, April 24, 2024].
Beyond the Grapple
When choosing a Berlon grapple, consider the size and horsepower of your skid steer. Look for a grapple that is compatible with your machine's hydraulic system. Berlon grapples use a single or dual cylinder design, and typically come with hoses, couplers, and a hose saver.
The Bottom Line
Berlon skid steer grapples are a popular choice for land management professionals and property owners who need a tough and reliable attachment for their skid steer. With a variety of models to choose from and a reputation for durability, Berlon grapples can be a valuable asset for your next project.
Additional Considerations:
While Berlon offers a variety of grapple attachments, they are sold through authorized Berlon dealers. You can find a dealer near you by visiting the Berlon Industries website berlon.com/skidsteer/grapples.

If you use your blower for drying cars, I highly recommend you try using one of these Stubby Nozzles!
Unleash the Power of Precision: Stubby Nozzles for Your Dewalt Flexvolt Blower
The Dewalt Flexvolt blower is a powerhouse of leaf-clearing and debris-banishing strength. But what if you need to tackle a tight space, maneuver around delicate objects, or focus airflow with laser precision? Enter the stubby nozzle, the unsung hero of the blower accessory world.
Why Stubborn on Stubbby?
Traditional blower nozzles can feel cumbersome, especially when dealing with intricate tasks. A stubby nozzle offers a range of benefits:
Enhanced Maneuverability: The shorter profile allows for greater control in confined spaces. Reach into those pesky corners of your garage, clear leaves from flower beds without damaging precious plants, or blow out dust from under appliances with ease.
Precision Blowing: The stubby nozzle concentrates the airflow into a tighter stream, perfect for directing high-velocity blasts exactly where you need them. This is ideal for delicate jobs like clearing dust from electronics or drying off a freshly washed car without scattering water droplets everywhere.
Increased User Comfort: The reduced length translates to a lighter-weight attachment, minimizing strain on your arms and shoulders during extended use.
Stubby Nozzle Applications:
Car Detailing: Stubby nozzles are a car care enthusiast's dream. Blast away water droplets from tight crevices, clear leaves and debris from under the hood, and direct airflow for a faster, more thorough car drying experience.
Electronics Cleaning: Blast dust bunnies out of computer vents, clean keyboards, and banish dust from delicate electronics without the risk of forceful air-delodging components.
Home Maintenance: Clear clogged gutters, target dust buildup in hard-to-reach nooks and crannies, and eliminate cobwebs from neglected corners – all with pinpoint precision.
Professional Applications: Landscapers can use stubby nozzles for targeted blowing in mulch beds or around ornamental plants. Contractors can effectively clear dust from construction sites.
Finding the Perfect Fit
Not all stubby nozzles are created equal. Ensure compatibility with your specific Dewalt Flexvolt blower model. Look for nozzles constructed from durable materials that can withstand the blower's power. Some manufacturers offer additional features like silicone tips to prevent scratching delicate surfaces.
Conclusion:
A stubby nozzle might seem like a minor accessory, but it can significantly enhance the versatility and functionality of your Dewalt Flexvolt blower. For those seeking precision, control, and comfort, a stubby nozzle is a powerful addition to your leaf-blowing arsenal. So next time you reach for your blower, consider the stubby sidekick for tackling those tough targeted tasks.

Dovoh 3D Laser Level 360 Self Leveling H3-360G - amzn.to/3PWnHJh
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you are a DIY person, you do not have to drop $700 on a decent laser level. We will show you the performance differences in this video.
Some of our basic rules to success.
- Work the ground before planting to allow dirt to accumulate from the top of the ground into the hole.
- Never J-Root a Tree.
- Cultivate around the trees for 2 years then plant white clover around them.
- Drill the right dept and size of hole for the tree.
Timing is key for us. When planting 4,500 to 10,000 trees in a short time frame, we need to make sure we can show up and get right to work. With that said, expect issues and work with them. This year we suffered from hydraulic leaks and antifreeze leaks on day one. Easy fixes, but it slows you down.
Spruce Up Your Deer Habitat: Planting Success with 18" Seedlings
Evergreens are a mainstay for wildlife habitat, providing valuable year-round cover and winter refuge for deer. If you're looking to enhance your property for these amazing creatures, planting spruce trees is an excellent option.
While mature spruce trees offer the most expansive cover, strategically planting smaller, 18-inch seedlings can be a successful strategy. Here's why 18-inch spruce trees are a smart choice for creating a deer haven:
Cost-effective: Smaller trees are considerably cheaper than their larger counterparts, allowing you to establish more cover plants within your budget.
Establishment Success: 18-inch trees are easier to handle and plant, with a higher survival rate compared to larger trees that can experience transplant shock.
Faster Growth: Smaller trees tend to focus their energy on establishing a strong root system in the first few years, leading to faster overall growth in the long run.
Directed Growth: Planting smaller trees allows you to strategically space them for optimal cover as they mature. This can be particularly beneficial for creating targeted bedding areas or travel corridors.
Choosing the Right Spruce for Your Habitat
There are several varieties of spruce trees that thrive in various regions and offer distinct benefits for deer:
Norway Spruce (Picea abies): A popular choice due to its dense branching that provides excellent cover even at a young age. They are hardy in zones 3-7 and grow to be majestic trees at maturity.
Black Hills Spruce (Picea glauca): This drought-tolerant and disease-resistant spruce is a good option for drier areas. They boast a beautiful blue-green hue and maintain a bushier form than Norway spruce, offering additional cover at the ground level. Black Hills spruce thrives in zones 2-7.
White Spruce (Picea glauca): Another adaptable option, white spruce tolerates a wide range of soil conditions and grows well in zones 2-6. While slower growing than Norway spruce, they mature into dense trees with excellent cover potential.
Planting Tips for Spruce Success
To ensure your 18-inch spruce trees thrive and become a haven for deer, follow these planting best practices:
Timing is Key: The ideal planting window depends on your location. In most areas, early spring or late fall, when the trees are dormant, is the best time for planting.
Location, Location, Location: Scout your property for areas that receive partial shade and have well-drained soil. Avoid planting directly under established trees that may compete for resources.
Prepare the Planting Site: Clear away weeds and debris from a planting area at least twice the diameter of the tree's root ball. Loosen the soil to a depth of 12-18 inches to encourage root growth.
Plant with Care: Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball and gently loosen the roots. Position the tree at its original soil depth and backfill the hole, tamping down the soil to eliminate air pockets.
Water Wisely: Water your newly planted trees deeply and regularly, especially during the first growing season. A thick layer of mulch around the base of the tree will help retain moisture and suppress weed growth.
By planting 18-inch spruce trees and following these tips, you'll be well on your way to creating a thriving deer habitat that provides valuable cover and shelter for years to come. Remember, a healthy deer population is a vital part of a balanced ecosystem, so happy planting!

This comprehensive blog post will delve into the key features and specifications of both the DCS378 and DCS379, helping you choose the perfect saw for your needs.
Cutting Performance:
Muscle for Various Materials: Both the DCS378 and DCS379 are equipped with a powerful brushless motor that can handle a wide range of materials, including wood, metal, and conduit.
Cutting Capacity: The DCS378 boasts a respectable 2-3/8" cutting capacity, ideal for most common cuts in lumber and metal. If you require additional cutting depth, the DCS379 steps it up with a 3-1/8" capacity, allowing you to tackle thicker materials with ease.
Portability and Convenience:
Cordless Freedom: Both bandsaws are powered by DEWALT's 20V MAX XR battery platform, eliminating the need for cumbersome extension cords. This allows for greater maneuverability and ease of use on the job site or around the workshop.
Compact Design: Weighing in at only 24 lbs. (DCS378) and 26 lbs. (DCS379), these mid-sized saws offer a good balance between cutting capacity and portability.
DCS378 Specific Features:
Integrated Stand: The DCS378 comes with a built-in folding stand, providing a stable platform for stationary cutting tasks. This can be a convenient feature for users who frequently perform controlled cuts in a workshop setting.
DCS379 Specific Features:
Variable Speed Control: The DCS379 offers variable speed control, allowing you to adjust the cutting speed to match the material at hand. This ensures optimal performance and blade life when working with different materials.
Light Weight Advantage: While both saws are relatively lightweight, the DCS379 sheds an additional 2 lbs. compared to the DCS378. This minor weight difference can be a deciding factor for users prioritizing ultimate portability.
Who Should Choose the DCS378?
The DCS378 is a great choice for DIYers and professionals who need a portable and powerful bandsaw for occasional use. The integrated stand makes it a convenient option for workshop use, while the 2-3/8" cutting capacity is sufficient for most common cuts.
Who Should Choose the DCS379?
The DCS379 is ideal for professional contractors and serious DIYers who require a more versatile bandsaw for frequent use. The variable speed control allows for fine-tuned cutting, and the slightly larger 3-1/8" capacity tackles thicker materials with ease. The lighter weight design is also a plus for users prioritizing portability.
Ultimately, the best DEWALT bandsaw for you depends on your specific needs and priorities. Consider the types of materials you'll be cutting most often, the importance of portability, and the convenience features that matter most to you.
Here are some additional factors to consider:
- Battery System: If you already own DEWALT 20V MAX XR batteries and tools, this can influence your decision, as you won't need to invest in a separate battery platform.
- Price: The DCS378 is typically priced lower than the DCS379 due to the absence of the variable speed control and lighter weight design.
No matter which DEWALT bandsaw you choose, you're guaranteed a powerful, portable, and versatile tool that will make cutting a variety of materials a breeze.

Overall, the Split-Fire 4003 Wood Chipper is a powerful and versatile attachment that transforms yard waste into valuable mulch. Its efficient chipping capabilities, user-friendly design, and compatibility with various tractors make it a great asset for homeowners and landscaping professionals alike.

Front Mount Quick Hitch For Skid Steer - bigtoolrack.com/products/new-skid-steer-heavy-duty-quick-hitch
The difference (perhaps only for tractors manufactured in 2020 and later) is that you must push and hold the PTO switch in the engaged position for at least 2 seconds. “Hold” then appears on the instrument display. You then get up out of the operator's seat and “Stationary PTO Active” appears on the instrument display. You can then operate the rear PTO remotely.
I do not know if these instructions apply equally to other 2020 Deere models, such as 1R and 2R series tractors. I leave it to the owners of those models to let us know.

#compacttractor
I watch many videos on property maintenance and many people go right to saying a compact tractor is the best item you can have to maintain your property. It is hard to argue that, but in my opinion, I could not get along without a mini skid steer due to the layout of my property and the hills. A tractor does not provide me with the stability I need to get work done in many places on our property.
Compact Track Loaders or Skid Steers are amazing machines, but they are very expensive and do not allow you to do much of the work some might need to do in the woods because of the limitations the operator has on getting in and out of the machine. Even if you have a slide-up door, you will not be getting out of the machine with the loader half in the air.
Mini skid steers offer 360-degree views and the ability to hop on and off the machine easily and often, no matter where the loader is positioned. Tractors offer the same type of ability with a little bit of restriction on getting in and out.
I would advocate that a property owner purchase a tractor and a mini skid steer for property maintenance. That would cover all the bases and leave them able to do anything needed, no matter the task.
You can remove 8 bolts and have 3 available setup positions for the infeed and exhaust chutes so the 4003 can be configured to perfectly fit your needs.
This model will fit subcompact to large compact tractors due to it being fitted with a heavy-duty gearbox. The 100 lbs rotor and 3/8” steel plate chipping box is effective for branches and limbs up to 4” but has a rotor opening gap past 6” to accept leafy and Y-shaped branches with ease.

Earbuds for the Jobsite: DEWALT Pro-X1 vs. Milwaukee 2191-21 REDLITHIUM USB Bluetooth Jobsite Earbuds
Protecting your hearing on the jobsite is crucial, but bulky earmuffs can be cumbersome. Thankfully, both DEWALT and Milwaukee have introduced wireless earbuds designed for construction environments. But with similar features, how do you choose between the DEWALT Pro-X1 and the Milwaukee 2191-21 REDLITHIUM USB Bluetooth Jobsite Earbuds?
This blog post will break down the key features of each earbud, helping you decide which one best suits your needs.
Noise Cancellation:
DEWALT Pro-X1: This earbud offers a passive noise reduction design, meaning it physically blocks out some ambient noise. It doesn't have Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology.
Milwaukee 2191-21: The Milwaukee earbuds boast Active Noise Cancellation, which electronically reduces background noise. This can be especially beneficial in noisy environments like construction sites.
Hearing Protection:
DEWALT Pro-X1: While lacking ANC, the DEWALT earbuds provide a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 26 dB. This means they can potentially lower the volume of harmful sounds by 26 decibels.
Milwaukee 2191-21: Milwaukee doesn't specify an NRR for their earbuds. However, with ANC technology, they likely offer similar or better noise reduction capabilities compared to the DEWALT's passive design.
Fit and Comfort:
DEWALT Pro-X1: These earbuds come with several different ear tip sizes, allowing for a customized fit. The design itself is more akin to traditional AirPods, which may not provide the most secure fit for all ear shapes.
Milwaukee 2191-21: Milwaukee offers a variety of ear tips and ear hooks to ensure a snug and comfortable fit. This is especially important for maintaining a good seal and maximizing noise reduction.
Battery Life:
DEWALT Pro-X1: The DEWALT earbuds offer up to 6.5 hours of playtime on a single charge, with the charging case providing an additional 3 full charges.
Milwaukee 2191-21: Milwaukee boasts a longer playtime of up to 8 hours per charge, with the case providing an additional 24 hours of power.
Additional Features:
DEWALT Pro-X1: This model features an earbud finder function, allowing you to locate a lost earbud through your phone.
Milwaukee 2191-21: Milwaukee's earbuds offer a more traditional feature set, focusing on noise reduction and audio playback.
Who Should Choose the DEWALT Pro-X1?
Users who prioritize a comfortable, familiar fit similar to AirPods.
Value users who prefer a more affordable option without ANC technology.
Who Should Choose the Milwaukee 2191-21?
Users who require maximum noise reduction with Active Noise Cancellation.
Those who prioritize longer battery life and a more secure fit with ear hooks.
Professionals who value a brand name specifically focused on worksite tools.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on your individual needs. Consider factors like:
Noise Level of Your Worksite: If you work in an extremely loud environment, ANC technology offered by Milwaukee might be more beneficial.
Fit and Comfort: Try both earbuds if possible to see which provides a more secure and comfortable fit for your ears.
Budget: The DEWALT earbuds are typically priced lower than the Milwaukee option.
Both the DEWALT Pro-X1 and Milwaukee 2191-21 REDLITHIUM USB Bluetooth Jobsite Earbuds offer hearing protection and a comfortable way to listen to music or podcasts on the jobsite. Carefully consider your priorities and try them out if possible to make the best choice for your needs!
I have been working with it for some time and it is a very interesting unit. I think that it needs some adjusting and safety items removed for it to work at its best.

Wildlife Habitat Improvement can be very fun, but we also run across a lot of things that can be dangerous. Most of the big issues are ticks, hornets, wasps, and bees. In this case, we found a porcupine home that needs a bit of cleaning up. Who lives like this?
Either way, it was nice to have an inspection camera with us to see if the family was home and come up with a plan to cut this tree down.

The CRAFTSMAN 6" Chainsaw is an excellent pruner for the person who works in their yard. The safety features built into this saw help to make it a safe experience for the user. This is a chainsaw, so caution and care should be used while doing anything with this saw.
The chain speed on this smaller chainsaw is slower, for safety, and is also not automatically oiled. The nice part about that is there is no chance of leaks! the downside is that you should oil it before going out to use his saw.
The comfort and ergonomics of this small chainsaw are great. It will intuitively bring your hands into a protected area and even novice chainsaw users will feel comfortable.
Make sure to keep the battery charged while using it as the bottom 20% of the battery brings a less torquey chainsaw that will cut out often on larger trimmings. Using a larger battery on this saw will bring out the beast in it!
Overall, this saw is not for everyone, but for the people who want a pruning chainsaw for their home, it will work wonderfully.
