I have you.Ratiocinator2011-03-25 | Something I noticed a long time ago. Discussion below copied and pasted from forums: --------------------------------------
Something interesting I noted: During the Maria ending, when James tells Maria he wants to be with her and she asks about Mary he responds, "It's okay... I have you." What's interesting about this line is James' eyes.
If you look at them when he says the line you'll see either a) his eyes goes from "normal" to constricted (opposite of dilation) and/or b) they go almost completely under his lower eye lid which would make it very difficult to focus on Maria.
Since, to bluntly summarize, Maria is an idealized image of what he wanted in Mary this tomfoolery with his eyes could be a subtle way of showing how he's fooling himself into seeing/believing her as what he wants. (I'm thinking the same way he convinced himself Mary died three years ago.)
I'm not fully sure if this was done on purpose but it seems too well-placed to be a glitch. In any case, it's interesting.
The two things that lead me to believe this was done on purpose is 1) his eyes come back to "normal" after he blinks right before the end and 2) he rolls his eyes after the blink. Usually when someone is "spacing out" they usually blink to regain focus and awareness. With the rolling of his eyes: Usually when someone is disoriented and "coming back to" they may roll their eyes (not in a snooty way) as a sign of body language saying, "Whoa, what just happened?!" And the line he says when this happens is just too eerie to be pure coincidence.
People who are familiar with 3D animating now that in order for his eyes to roll near the end the developers would have to deliberately set key frames to make his pupils do the rotation; this was deliberate.
Bare in mind that Team Silent are responsible for subtle details such as Maria's roll of flab, Eddie's and Vincent's off centered eyes and Vincent always gritting his teeth. The original "Jimmy vs. Fence" video I made was out of boredom and for fun but soon caught viral amongst the Silent Hill fanbase. As a result, I felt the need to remaster the video. The end result: a remastered video in crisp, glorious HD accompanied with heaping doses of James's iconic-yet-questionable common sense.

Made possible with use of the IZ3D 3D driver. The IZ3D driver makes DirectX 9 and higher games in stereo 3D whereas Silent Hill 2 PC uses DirectX 8. Unfortunately I cannot adjust the seperation/convergence for the 3D depth with this game. It's lucky this even worked but there are various glitches while using it:
Anywhere James can and does use his flashlight "blacks" out the entire environment. An example of this is near the end of the video when James is shooting Pyramid Head through the closet. The light caused by the pistol flash glitches out whatever the light is touching.Strange Silent Hill 2 PC Glitch/ErrorRatiocinator2009-10-08 | A result of trying to capture Silent Hill 2 using the IZ3D driver.Silent Hill 2 Japanese Trial Version (Gameplay Video)Ratiocinator2009-10-02 | Presented by LETTER FROM SILENT HEAVEN - http://www.igotaletter.com
This is a video of the trial version released of Silent Hill 2 in Japan. While there are no technical differences from the final build, the main start screen slightly differs and the amount of items/enemies found throughout the game vary. The video has been shortened in two spots: At any time when it dissolves into a "In the interest of time..." screen that means the normal cutscene in the final build is taking place.

Most of these "secrets" are old news now but at the time my friends and I were pretty stoked about the glitches and bugs we discovered (we found all these glitches by ourselves without the use of any external sources).
