This conspiracy theory goes behind the assassination of a single United States president. Instead, it claims that multiple killings were performed by the Catholic Church (Vatican, Jesuits, etc.) over various decades with the same motive of fracturing and dividing the United States. The victims or attempted victims include Democrats, Whigs and Republicans - any president who defies the will of the Roman Catholic Church.

Supposedly Richard Lawrence, posing as a crazy man, was set up to kill Andrew Jackson. Theorists say that William Henry Harrison and Zachary Taylor, both Whig presidents, didn't die of natural causes as the mainstream official story claims but instead that they were poisoned. In Taylor's case arsenic poison was used by Southern pro-slavery elements who were in league with the Pope.

These same elements later became the Confederacy, and after their failure to win the Civil War on Pope Pius IX's behalf John Wilkes Booth was sent to finish off Abraham Lincoln in an act of vengeance, thus were the claims of an old client of Abraham Lincoln, former Catholic priest Charles Chinniquy. William McKinley was supposedly going to release secret documents on the church and its corruption early in his second term but he never got the chance to as Leon Czolgosz, like Booth, was a loyal agent of the church dispatched the kill the president.

And finally John F. Kennedy was killed because the church wanted conflict in Vietnam to escalate.

These claims span to decades and have no concrete source. Some claims come from the 2005 book The Secret Terrorists by Pastor Bill Hughes, others from Charles Chinniquy's 1886 book titled 50 Years in the Church of Roman and others date back even early to anti-immigrant sentiment - the same feelings that gave rise to short-lived Know-Nothing Party.
