On November 14, the UN Women Knowledge & Partnerships Centre in the Republic of Korea convened the UN Women Private Sector Forum: Care Service Innovation and Investment for Our Sustainable Future.
The Forum brought together private sector leaders from diverse industries—including construction, finance, investment, artificial intelligence, and research—as well as international speakers from across Asia. Discussions explored the role and potential of the private sector in transforming unpaid care into services, with a focus on senior care. They also examined ways to connect social value with business opportunities in the context of rapid population aging.

On 11 March, the UN Women Knowledge & Partnerships Centre, with support from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family of the Republic of Korea, hosted the commemoration of International Womens Day 2026 in Seoul. This event brought together approximately 180 participants, including diplomats, policymakers, academics, civil society leaders, and private sector representatives.
Director Ms. Yun Jeong Hwang emphasized that women’s rights must move beyond declarations to tangible actions, while H.E. Ms. Min-Kyong Won, Minister of Gender Equality and Family, delivered congratulatory remarks on how gender equality is the key to a sustainable future.
Key Speaker Insights:
● Ms. Soojung Kim (Attorney-at-law, Jihyang Law Firm): Highlighted Koreas landmark 56-Year MeToo case, compellingly showcasing the structural gender bias ingrained in legal systems.
● Dr. Oh Nam Kwon (President, Korea Federation of Science & Technology Societies): Warned how unchecked AI systems can perpetuate social biases and called for active participation by women scientists in the development of bias-free technology.
● Ms. Jung Hee Shin (Chair, Gender Equality Committee of the Korea Sport & Olympic Committee): Emphasized the importance of gender-balanced decision-making structures in sports and shared her commitment to institutional improvement.
● Mr. Jung Hoon Park (Journalist, Ohmynews): Analyzed the cultural perpetuation of toxic masculinity, showcasing how media and digital platforms contribute to a cycle of gender backlash and misogyny.
Together, the participants reaffirmed a shared global commitment to building a more inclusive world where justice is a lived reality for every woman and girl.
