One morning while sitting down for his morning coffee, composer Ronen Landa noticed visual artist Sheila Darcey (IG: @sketchpoetic) completing one of her daily sketch meditations and was immediately struck by her unique style. Over the course of their conversation they realized that they view their work through a similar lens: art has the power to heal our spirit and bring people together.
They embarked on a collaboration together. While listening to a playlist of Ronen’s film and concert music, Sheila created a series of original watercolor and ink works in response to what she heard. She sent Ronen time lapse videos of her process, and he then composed and recorded original scores to accompany them. With their loop fully in motion, Sheila created an additional work while listening to Ronen’s new music.
They released their multimedia album “Art on a Loop” on Bandcamp, featuring music, videos and the final artwork. All proceeds from the album benefit Education Through Music-Los Angeles, which works to provide a comprehensive music education to disadvantaged children in local schools.
