For months, reliable leaks suggested that Apple was preparing to launch new Apple TV 4K models and updated HomePod minis before the end of 2025. But now that we’re at the end of December, it’s clear that Apple isn’t releasing any new home hardware this year.
So what actually happened to the new Apple TV?
In this video, we break down why Apple likely delayed the next Apple TV 4K and what we now expect in early 2026 instead. Reports suggest Apple is sticking with the same familiar Apple TV design, but under the hood, the upgrades could be significant. Rumors point to Apple’s new N1 wireless chip with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread support, along with a major performance jump from the A15 Bionic to a potential A17 Pro chip.
If that happens, the next Apple TV could support faster streaming, lower latency gaming, and possibly even Apple Intelligence features tied to the next generation of Siri on tvOS. There were also rumors of a built-in camera for FaceTime and gesture-based controls, though those features now seem far less likely.
