The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK)is the founding and ruling political party of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), and the largest party represented in the Supreme People's Assembly. The WPK is the sole governing party of North Korea, although it coexists de jure with two other legal parties making up the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland. It was founded in 1949 with the merger of the Workers' Party of North Korea and the Workers' Party of South Korea. The WPK also controls the world's 5th largest armed force – Korean People's Army. This political party (and all of the other parties in the DPRK) remains illegal in South Korea (officially the Republic of Korea) under South Korea's own National Security Act.

Partai Buruh Korea (PBK) adalah partai yang berkuasa dari Republik Demokratik Rakyat Korea, umum dikenal sebagai Korea Utara. Partai ini juga disebut Partai Pekerja Korea (PPK). PBK telah menjadi partai yang berkuasa di Korea Utara sejak berdiri dan sebagai pemimpinnya, Kim Il-sung (1949-1994) dan anaknya, Kim Jong-il (mulai tahun 1997, ketika ia secara resmi mengambil alih posisi sebagai Sekretaris Jenderal sampai kematiannya pada tahun 2011) dan putra bungsu Kim Jong-il, Kim Jong-un yang terpilih sebagai Sekretaris Pertama Partai Buruh Korea pada konferensi partai ke-4 yang diselenggarakan pada 11 April 2012. Partai ini secara luas dipandang sebagai partai yang berkuasa gaya lama terakhir Stalinis di dunia. Namun, PBK mengklaim telah ideologi sendiri yang berbeda perusahaan (Juche) yang dianggap lebih unggul dari Marxisme-Leninisme.
