“Actually I had the idea for a new book at the end of 2017. I had set myself a deadline until February of 2018, to create an idea what this new book should be about and how it has to look like. But nothing came to fruition. I was too busy, I was struggling with my work and wasn’t quite sure if the quality and my whole visual world was ready for a new release.
And then, a few months later, life hit me.
I had to leave my favorite city Barcelona. My relationship was crumbling. Everything I believed in was gone. But I was holding on to it, maybe I still am, and I was trying to fix everything that was going wrong in my personal life. Astonishing enough, that while my inner self was struggling, my creative work was getting stronger and stronger. Maybe there is a connection, maybe I needed this depression to be creative again and to put all my heart back in the art-form I love so much.
After seeing NYC for the first time, the book idea started to grow on me again and at the end of November 2018 I had this Idea for a name while standing under the shower:
„DEAR,“
An open, visual letter. A mood I wasn’t getting rid of since my girlfriend broke up with me. This melancholic, nostalgic, moody feeling of being alone and to know exactly, that there are no words, no actions, no chances to set the bar straight again to fix this.
At the beginning I thought that it would be nice to write visual letters to certain feelings. But this was kind of to complex, and I realized pretty fast that all my images contains one certain feeling: Desire.
Music: André JosselinStay Healthy, Stay Safe.André Josselin2020-04-16 | In uncertain times like this, it can be difficult to focus on anything - let alone think about the future. Honestly, it can even be scary. However, what should always remain is our common belief in humanity and what we can do for each other. If, hopefully, a Corona virus cure is developed in the near future, we need to make sure that it is available to everyone - but first to those who need it most: people working in healthcare, followed by those at risk, and the people for whom physical distancing is not an option, such as in refugee camps.
We are all connected in our fight against the disease. Our answer must therefore be a deeply humanitarian one.
This is the reason why I would like to share the Solidarity Pledge with you - a strong message that you can find completely after the swipe up. It would be amazing if you took a minute and read the pledge. Share it on your profile with your friends and help spread this message. Please go to avaaz.org to support the SolidarityPledge petition. This fight is a common one. Stay safe and stay healthy! Thank you!
"In fact no one recognizes the happiest moment of their lives as they are living it. It may well be that, in a moment of joy, one might sincerely believe that they are living that golden instant "now", even having lived such a moment before, but whatever they say, in one part of their hearts they still believe in the certainty of a happier moment to come. Because how could anyone, and particularly anyone who is still young, carry on with the belief that everything could only get worse: If a person is happy enough to think he has reached the happiest moment of his life, he will be hopeful enough to believe his future will be just as beautiful, more so." - From "The Museum Of Innocence" by Orhan Pamuk

Ciao!Friends in Marrakech | WEEKLY VISUAL 004André Josselin2018-03-17 | a short but moody Weekly Visual 004 from Marrakech.
since moving to barcelona, i did not see my friends that often so i decided to go to marrakech with my dear friend, laura.
just to say goodbye again.
all the people that matter to me used to live in cologne, but since I am not the best at holding contact, i feel a bit off. to make matters worse, two of my best friends moved to australia and indonesia, virtually living on the other side of this planet.
YO!

Thx for watching003 - ANDRÈ JOSSELIN GALAXYAndré Josselin2018-01-09 | RE-Upload: Grain, Grading, Subtitles, New Logo. _ Pictures are like music to me, one has to feel and to storify them. They are my call for freedom. I’d always rather be, where I’m not [currently]. Restless. On the scout. I take pictures of my own longing for more. For remoteness. For whats not within reach. With the photographs I want to create something that stays. Something that survives. Something someone in 30 years will find on their attic. I’m not looking for an answer of questions I never asked- the indeterminate excites me too much. Imagine the ocean had been entirely explored, or the galaxies. That compares to an end. It means to stop dreaming. [And] when I take pictures [or] look at them, I’m exactly at that place, where there are no questions anymore.

And very special thanks to RED BULL & REVIEW.André Josselin - ❝About Hiraeth❝ (An American Journey With Mercedes Benz)André Josselin2016-07-15 | For me in life it’s more about the memories you create. It is more about the stuff you share with people you love, or even with people you don’t know. Everywhere you go you left footprints. And that’s what I live for. I want to create stuff that lasts. Visuals that stay in your mind and words you can relate to.
In this case, America was always a dream for me. I knew, that if i’d go there, I could do something great. This film isn't about traveling in particular. It is about the desire for a place you've never been to. It is about the nostalgic feeling of missing something you'd never had before. Your whole life you're searching for something better. A place. A person. A meaning. For me – I'm restless. I am longing for that place that I've never seen. And this film will show you everything I've ever missed.
All my life I wasn't able to explore. There was no vision, I couldn't find a thing I really can relate to. There was this hole in my heart. The feeling that everything I do is without meaning. It took me a long time to figure out my own talents and a thing I want to do with my life. But when I finally realized what I wanted to do, I dedicated my life to it. I wanted to do something creative – to be remembered. There's nothing greater to me than pictures. Visions. Words. Motions. America was always a dream I thought I could never realize. A place I thought I would never see with my own eyes. My personal Hiraeth. My nostalgia.

Rastlos. Auf der Suche. Ich fotografiere meine eigene Sehnsucht nach mehr. Nach Ferne. Nach dem was nicht immer greifbar ist. Mit den Fotos will ich etwas schaffen was bleibt. Etwas, was bestand hat. Was irgendjemand in 30 Jahren auf seinem Dachboden findet.
___ André Josselin www.andrejosselin.de info@andrejosselin.deAndré Josselin - Roadtrip to PortugalAndré Josselin2015-10-11 | Everybody needs a break sometimes. The best way for me to do so is getting away from all the trouble. With no concern about the past, present or the future. Just hitting the road with amazing people, seeing new things, learning more about myself, finding peace and doing what I love. That's what it's all about. Being free, escaping the rules and the boundaries which make you feel trapped and just live.
These 12 days we spent in Portugal were amazingly peaceful and refreshing. Sleeping in a tipi in the middle of nowhere, crossing the most beautiful landscapes I've seen in a long time, riding a tuktuk (which was so much fun, even though we thought we're gonna die at the same time) and watching the most stunning sunsets ever, ... And beer, much beer!
I would go back right now if I could.
Thank you Lisa, Helen, Desi and Lennart for making these 12 days special.
