‘Sweet Love’ was the first single to be released from Anita Baker’s 1986 album Rapture. The album was a big hit for Baker, earning her two Grammy Awards and later being ranked #36 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Albums from the 1980s. ‘Sweet Love’ was also a hit, reaching #2 on the U.S. Billboard R&B Chart, and #13 on the UK Singles Chart. The album features performances from a number of bass players, including Jimmy Haslip, Neil Stubenhaus, David B. Washington, and Freddie Washington. The bassline on this track – along with two others on the album – was played by Freddie Washington.
