Meet Althea Louise Panales, a biology major who found her home at the University of North Dakota through connection, curiosity and community.
At UND, Althea discovered that getting involved isn’t just encouraged — it’s transformative. From joining the K-pop dance team to restarting the Filipino student organization, she built meaningful friendships and created spaces where others feel they belong.
“Clubs will help you break out of your shell, make so many friends, and it will make you feel like you belong.”
Her journey didn’t stop there. As a biology student, Althea leaned into new challenges and found support every step of the way. By simply reaching out to a professor, she unlocked undergraduate research opportunities—gaining hands-on experience, building close connections in the lab, and learning through every success (and mistake).
