I originally had 'something else' planned for this video, but it didn't go well so I decided just to make a mamegoma tutorial :'D (hence the mamegoma I actually showed the process of making had to be scrapped xD) You can really change up whatever you like with these; colour expression, size etc. I was a little hesitant to even upload this as 'simple' is an understatement, but I hope some of you found it helpful anyway haha! In this video I show the before and after of painting this simple Totoro (from 'My Neighbour Totoro') figurine :D I decided to have Totoro sitting on a little tree stump as I thought it would make it slightly more interesting haha xD Sorry I didn't show the sculpting, I didn't want this video to be too long D: (hence the dodgy editing and snappy review :P) But it was really just an experimental piece for me, as I've never used this clay before! -My Opinion On The Clay-As I have never used this type of air dry clay before; this was all fairly new to me. The consistency of the clay is what I was expecting; very soft and almost 'paper' like. I found that it was a little hard to shape at times, but that could be due to my ignorance with air dry clay :'D I also found it had a tendency to leave quite a lot of 'cracks' where the clay had been conditioned and folded, but this problem seemed to diminish when I added more water to my hands and the clay itself: the clay could have just been dry xDIt was more difficult to adhere pieces of clay together than polymer clay, but I found that if you spread some water on the area beforehand, it stuck fine ^-^ However, one of the ears and tail did break off for me after the curing process, but that was my fault for being clumsy and dropping the figurine xD Painting on the surface of the clay was extremely easy, and only required one coat. I also found the clay glazed nicely too. The 'log' did not take the shine as much as Totoro, which could be down to the amount of paint or texturing, but is not problem for me as it gives a more 'realistic' effect. I only microwaved the tree stump, as Totoro had metal wires for the whiskers (you've got to remember metal cannot go in the mircrowave!) I had to set my microwave on medium for 10 minutes, but it all depends on the power of your own microwave, so you may have to look into that briefly. The clay baked nicely throughout and was not hot when taken out of the microwave. A glass of cold water must also be placed during the microwaving process (I would assume to keep the clay moist..? xD) But overall the microwaving process was very easy and quick to do :DSo that's a little 'round up' of my opinion on the clay! Most of these are really uncreative and boring, so I take no credit for any of the ideas, as many people have probably already made them xD Hmm I'm not sure what to think about this whole "no talking" thing xD I didn't feel like talking on the day, and my voice kind of ruins my videos so I thought "eh, might as well not talk" xD If you would prefer me talking just say :3 It also makes this video really short if I don't talk! Only 4 minutes xD And, sorry for disappearing all the time ._. I have no excuses, I am just lazy and I'm never motivated to edit videos xD But if you guys request some tutorials, I will definitely try as I have around a week left of Easter break :D (Happy early Easter btw, even if you don't celebrate it)If anyone "new" here is wondering about polymer clay, basically it's a type of modelling clay that can be hardened in the oven. People like me use to make clay charms, mostly "kawaii" ones :3 I use Premo and Fimo (mostly premo) which, in England, you can buy for around £1.50-£2.50, depending on where you live. Heart Eyepins Tutorial: DIY Findings. LilacSprinkles 2013-07-25 | -------Watch in HD----------Idea credit to cakezRme! http://www.youtube.com/user/cakezrme Thank you for the idea! Sorry I haven't posted in ages again wah! I am being lazy :P Hey everyone so in this tutorial I show you how to make heart eyepins! As I said, credit for this idea goes to CakezRme, thank you so much for the idea! I thought it was really cute and original :D After a few attemps, I finally found a simple way of making them! I hope this is easy enough to follow, I think it's a bit unclear :( But anyway, I hope you enjoyed! Some of you might think "but as it's a heart shape, it won't hang properly!" Well, I tested it out and of course it's not going to be completely straight, but as this heart shape is pretty "subtle" it doesn't make too much of a difference :) You can make it realy subtle if you want, then it will hang basically straight xD Here is a list of materials you will need:-Wire (You can use the spare you cut off from usual eyepins)-Round Nose Pliers (Set of 5 from Hobbycraft)-Wire Cutters (same as the above)-Flat Pliers (same as the above)That's all you need, not too much! :) And you'll need a charm if you actually want to use these xD As for why I haven't uploaded in ages, well, there really isn't a reason D: I did have some school exams (3 or 4) but nothing really to stop me uploading :( I'm so sorry! I just haven't really had video ideas, and I tried filming a tutorial lasy weekend but it just completely failed :( It is summer break now though! There are a lot of charms, so it's hard to remember :PHey everyone, so this is my updated polymer clay charm collection! There are various reasons why I decided to make a new charm collection; the last one I made was in December and I have a lot more charms, people requested an updated collection, and I wanted to try and fit it in one video xD If you want to see the last box in more detail, please check out my old charm collection(s). I didn't see the point of going through the same charms & explaining them, when I already have a video on them :D I also didn't want to risk myself, as I probably would say my own opinions about the charms, which a large number of you found annoying D: I would like to say sorry for that! I really hate those charms though haha :P (please don't kill me :P)The reason for the gaps in both charm boxes is that the older box, most of the charms are glazed with Triple Thick, which for me, becomes really sticky. I started using a new glaze a while ago (DuraClear Gloss Varnish & Holloway House Quick Shine Floor Finish) and so far, that hasn't become sticky, so I don't want to mix the charms xD If any of you are interested, I started making charm in February 2012, and the longest break I have had from making charms is about a month...I think xD I use Premo and Fimo polymer clay, I do prefer Premo overall, but Fimo does have some really pretty pastel colours haha xD If any of you are feeling "down" about your charm making skills, I just have one piece of advice for you: don't stop practicing! Before I started my YouTube channel, I would barely even make charms as there was no "reason" to make them, and sometimes I got fed up as my charms looked really bad (in my opinion they still have a lot of room for improvement) But I can honestly say, since I started my Youtube channel, they have been improving A LOT quicker! That is just because I have been making charms a lot more frequently so I could post charm updates & tutorials. I wasn't improving that much before I had my youtube channel! But I feel my charms are getting slightly better as I continue to make charms :) So all I can say is just KEEP PRACTICING! Giving up will get you no where :DThe boxes were purchased from hobbycraft, they are really handy, and you can remove the horizontal slots :D Yeah, so....that's all I have to say really! :P If you have any questions feel free to ask :D I doubt anyone is actually reading this haha, lets be honest, who reads description boxes nowadays anyway? Clinging Fox Ring Tutorial: Polymer Clay Illusion Ring. Decoden iPod Case Tutorial: My First Decoden, Pastel Themed! LilacSprinkles 2013-05-27 | ---------Watch in HD-------------htpp://www.youtube.com/user/theflufffball (Molly answered a lot of my questions about decoden :D) This is my first decoden, so it's really not very good, and I completely messed up on the piping as you will see xD Open me for materials needed!Hey everyone so in this "tutorial" (not sure if you can classify this as a tutorial really) how to make a decoden iPod case! You can do this for a phone, box, anything you can think of really! :3 Make sure if you use a phone case though that it's not flexible! Otherwise the silicone will just peel off and break and it won't be very nice ahah xDThe deco pieces are made are basically just stars, alpacas and macarons :) The theme of this was pastel colours, so basically lilac, blue, vanilla and pastel pink :) The alpaca was inspired by SimplyWithLove! http://youtube.com/user/simplywithlove If you want you can actually colour the silcione with acrylic paint, make sure not to add too much though! I've never tried that before (obviously ahah) but I have seen other crafters do that :) Here is a list of materials you will need:-iPod/phone case (Belkin Clear iPod Case)-Silicone/Whipple/Whipped Cream Clay (I am using a really cheap tesco silicone, but you can use any white silicone, you can even use the 100% silicone which is flexible, but be careful with this is harder to clean"-Icing Bag (tesco)-Icing Tip (I just found the one I was using in my house, make sure you DO NOT use this for food though)-Deco Pieces/Cabochons (I am using handmade deco pieces)Optional Items: (I got most of these from MiniatureSweet of Etsy)-Rhinestones (You can use these just to put in random places on the case, or put them around the lens/lock buttons)-Pearls (Again, just to use as decoration)-Glitter (To sprinkle on the silicone)-Paint (I used this just to cover up any gaps)-Glaze (To secure the rhinestones to areas without silicone)For the border of the case I used a "shell" piping technique, and for the inside and I am not sure what it's called :P A..zig zag patttern? This is basically what I put on my desk when making charms! If any of you guys are beginners to making charms and are thinking "I need all of this to make charms?!?!?" No, of course you don't! You only need the basic clay colours & tools, and eyepins, and you're ready to go! I have been doing this craft for about a year, so that's why I have gathered many different tools and such :)I keep all my clay and tools in this box, and it's really useful! It can fit a lot in it :D I got this box from a shop called "Cass Art" in London (No, I do not live in London :)) And it was £5 at the time as it was on sale, but originally it was £16 which is a huge rip off as you can get the exact same box in hobbycraft, just without the label "Daler Rowney" printed on it for £5, original price xD Any, I would really recommened something like this to store your clay in! But be warned, looking for clay in this thing is like looking in a bottomless pit O_OWondering were I lost my cupcake mold? It was hidden under all that clay in the bottomless pit.
