Rather than the purely fun, upbeat aesthetic you might expect from just looking at the game, the music always has this slightly tainted undercurrent - a kind of world-weariness that punctuates the optimistic exterior. This feeling adds to the mostly upbeat, simple melodies to create some truly poignant musical moments.

The Hyrule Castle theme, originally from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, is one of the greatest pieces of video game music ever written. It kind of gets overshadowed, being on a soundtrack full mostly of the greatest video game music ever written, but taking a deeper look at it I was surprised at how much there was to chew on. Enjoy!
