Prophet of Zod | A Weak Excuse for Telling Atheists To Shut Up @ProphetofZod | Uploaded September 2021 | Updated October 2024, 13 hours ago.
A channel called Apologetics Squared recently made a video suggesting that atheists should delete their YouTube channels because of what Christianity asserts will happen if you convince people not to be Christian. Yes, that's his actual contention. What he claims gives this validity is the fact that Christianity asserts the consequences of not being Christian are infinite - so if you multiply even incredibly low odds against infinity, the utility is still infinite. Basically, the moment someone puts a claim of infinite reward or punishment into words, you should cast aside everything you understand about plausible consequences of your actions and respond out of concern for whatever scenario they vocalized.
You probably know this is nonsense, but in this video I'll explain a few of the little tricks of language used to make it sound defensible, as well as pointing out why this idea is easily destroyed by counter-examples and is just an excuse for demanding Christianity not be criticized.
