Many people may have heard of the legendary Austrian piano brand Bösendorfer, known for their prestigious, pristine pianos. Many people have also heard of the American piano maker Kimball, who made simple instruments for the average household which are, for the most part, nothing out of the ordinary. For a time, however, Kimball owned Bösendorfer, and during this period they made instruments to Bösendorfer's specifications in Indiana, USA. These had some qualities of both brands, and due to the Kimball name being used on the fallboard the instruments have little prestige today. However, they present very good value on the used market, as they tend to have a nice sound reminiscent of a European instrument.
