Hello and thanks for stopping by.
This short film is an experiment. I can't always get to the mountains to make hiking and camping videos and I have nowhere close by where i can do a midweek wild camp. However, over the years since I started with this channel, I've discovered loads more about filmmaking and It's something that I enjoy creating. So while I will still film my hikes and camping trips, I am also going to start making short films like this, as I really enjoy the process and playing around with various settings, ND filters, colour grading etc. Plus, I really love the Osmo pocket 3 as it's so handy to just have on me all the time and just film whatever I like. In this short film, i was also trying to find that 'cinematic look' not just with the cinema bars, but with the colour grading, the 'feel' and the music choice.
Let me know what you think and all feedback is taken as just that, feedback and hopefully can learn more for my next video.
Anyway, I had an idea to start making a few short films with a theme.
As I live just 2 minutes from Sant Cristòfol lighthouse, I often pass it on my walks and I think Lighthouses always stir up great emotions, especially when they were manned back in the day, where lighthouse keepers would be sat in there with huge storms blowing in from the sea, often for days/weeks on end, guiding the ships away from the rocky shores. I love stuff like that but I also got to thinking that these are amazing solitary buildings, dotted across the world, surviving in all conditions that is thrown at them and how they still survive.
“Sometimes solitude is one of the most beautiful things on earth.” – Charles Bukowski
I did find that having a theme for this short film, also helped me look more at my surroundings and tried to find things what were solitary. The lighthouse. A plastic char. Some trees but also, The Ocean. While it may be divided up into different seas, it's one body of water and therefore solitary and until this short film, I never really thought of it like that for some reason.
So if you have any ideas for future themes, let me know in the comments and I'll see where it takes me.
Until then, thanks for watching.
