In June 2018, global experts and policy-makers converged at the University of Calgary to chew over the complex dilemma of unhealthy diets — a leading risk factor for death and disability in this country.
The free, two-day food policy forum was presented by the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta and the O'Brien Institute for Public Health in advance of the new Canada food guide, which was unveiled January 22, 2019.
This is the fifth of seven videos from that event: Food Policy for Better Health.
Speakers in this video include Dr. Valeria Tarasuk, a professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto; Donald Barker with Nutrition Services at Population and Public Public Health with Alberta Health Services; Bobbi Turko, executive director of I Can For Kids; Mary Salvani, a community advocate with Disability Action hall; and Chelsea Crowshoe, senior advisor of Indigenous Cultural Competency Education at Alberta Health Services.
