In June 2018, global experts and policy-makers converged at the University of Calgary to chew over the complex dilemma of unhealthy diets — a leading risk factor for death and disability in this country.
The free, two-day food policy forum was presented by the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta and the O'Brien Institute for Public Health in advance of the new Canada food guide, which was unveiled January 22, 2019.
This is the seventh and final video from that event: Food Policy and Health: A Recap.
Speakers in this video include Kate Chidester, vice president of health and research at the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Alberta, NWT and Nunavut; Sheila Tyminski, director of nutrition services for the Population and Public Health Strategy at Alberta Health Services; Kenton Delisle, senior policy lead for Nutrition, Health & Wellness Promotion at Alberta Health; Dr. Hasan Hutchinson, PhD, director general of the Office of Nutrition Policy and Promotion at Health Canada; Dr. William Yan, PhD, director of the Bureau of Nutritional Sciences at Health Canada; and Dr. Dana Olstad, PhD, an assistant professor in Community Health Sciences and a member of the O'Brien and Libin institutes at the University of Calgary.
