Alexander Hamilton's essay on our electoral system (Federalist No. 68) is all the rage these days. But most of the ragers are pulling choice quotes out of context, ignoring the fact that Hamilton wasn't actually describing the system we have today. He's talking about a system that was scrapped long ago.
