Before a fire forced Trailside Trikes to close its doors, the Van & Trike Tour stopped in Floral City, Florida, for a day at this unique recumbent trike shop located directly alongside the Withlacoochee State Trail.
This episode was filmed before the March 28, 2026 fire at Trailside Trikes. As of publication, the shop remains closed and its future is uncertain. With the permission of owner Andrew, I’m sharing this episode as it was originally filmed — a snapshot of Trailside, its history, the people who worked there, and the cycling community surrounding it.
During the visit, original Trailside founder Regis stopped by and shared some of the story behind the shop and his early days riding recumbents along the trail. We also meet Gary and Gary, spend some time around the shop, learn about a local charity ride, and eventually roll directly out the door and onto the Withlacoochee State Trail for an afternoon of riding.
Whatever the future holds for Trailside Trikes, I’m glad this little piece of its story was captured.
🚲 JIM'S RIDE
During my visit I met Wanda Keegan, organizer of Jim's Ride, the Pastor Jim Keegan Memorial Ride held on the Withlacoochee State Trail. The volunteer-run ride honors her late husband Jim and raises money for organizations in the local community.
