We're back for another 2022 Book Haul Revisit! 2022 was the first and only year that I made monthly book hauls. It was the first year I started my Recently Acquired Books Spreadsheet. This series goes hand in hand with my Basement Box Books Unboxing, Haul and Unhaul series. (If you haven't watched the first episode, it's right here: youtu.be/Z6pW6XlKJZk). I want to go back through all the books I acquired in 2022 and see what I've read, what remains unread, and if I unhauled any of the books.
This was a big haul!! 31 books in total! Most from one of my favorite local used book sales. At least I read a good number of these books!
Have you read any of the books I mention here? Which should I prioritize?
Do I read all the books that I haul? Do you? I'm also making a priority TBR as I go through these hauls. If you see any books you think I should read, let me know in the comments below!
I really love watching Haul Revisit videos. Who are your favorite creators doing these videos?

I have an ongoing project where I try to visit every Little Free Library I can!
Here are so many Little Free Libraries that I went to over the end of Spring and beginning of Summer. Summer is the busy season, in our jobs, where we live and for our lives. These are pretty much in chronological order. There might be a few repeats bc I love seeing how the libraries change a few weeks, or months apart. I've also been trying not to be too tempted to go to too many LFLs, bc I am still on my book acquiring ban!
This video is a slightly more typical LFL tour for me - lots of repeats! I tend to go to my local LFL a lot! Maybe once a week for some, several times a month, for others. Do you repeat little free libraries? Is your most visited LFL near your home, work, school?
Check out my Little Library Original Tag:

What short story have you enjoyed recently?
Are you participating in the TBR Spin this year? What was your May book?
The rules for TBR Spin are simple! In Jan we pick 12 books and each month one of the two hosts will spin a wheel to help us pick what books to read from our stacks for that month. The wheel has different prompts, no prompts will be repeated, and we don't know in advance what the prompts are! If you're starting this game later in the year just start your stack with the appropriate amount of books (11 for Feb, 10 for March, 9 for April and so on...) and watch the prompt video for that month. Join any time! I vlog all my TBR Spin books and pick the next months book at the end of each vlog.

In 2024, I've started a new series where I go through the dozens of boxes and hundreds of books that have been languishing in my basement for over 8 years. It's time to go through these books!!
There's a lot of vintage mass market paperbacks in these boxes. Also some "newer" books! I filmed this video back in March and I have now read one of the books we unboxed here. Huge points if you know which one!!
This video is part unboxing, part haul, and part unhaul! There's even a unboxing within the unboxing! How meta!!
Ideally, I hope that I can unhaul the majority of the books. The next biggest chunk of books, I'd like to see go back to the basement. Some might be books that go on my read shelf, bc I have read them, but they might also be my husband's books, or books that are part of collections that live on my read shelf. Lastly, there might be a few books that spark my interest, and I do put on my tbr.
Have you read any of the books I mentioned here?

And also cats!
Come along with me as I explore NJ, buy books, hang out with cats and dogs, and generally enjoy summer!

August was a great reading month! I read horror, short stories, series, fantasy, contemporary, lit fic, thriller, queer books, and soo many translated works!
It was woman in translation month, which is fast becoming one of my favorite reading month challenges of the year.
I had some rereads. I continued in a series, and restarted a series. I read so many short story collections. I read a lot of books that ended up in or will end up in other videos!

Sci fi Sept was created by @booksaremysociallife and I really enjoyed it that year. In 2022, I didn't see anyone doing prompts for it, so I created my own for inspiration! You can find that video here: youtu.be/_KNQGvccQ08
Last year, I followed those prompts and made a vlog about it.
The planetary sci fi prompts can also be used as a tag.
In 2024, I wanted to create some new prompts and decided to go with prompts involving the Chinese zodiac. Many other Asian and Pacific Island cultures also use a similar zodiac. With that in mind, I thought these prompts would also be a great way to read more Asian, Asian American and Pacific Island authors as well!
Each prompt has several parts you can chose to use, use all of them, pick and choose or just read a book by an Asian author in the month of Sept to participate.
Bonus Prompt - Read a book from the year you were born, with your zodiac animal on the cover, in the story or in the title, and/or use the prompt below for your zodiac.
Rat - read a book with a charming or persuasive character
read a book with a rat on the cover, in the title or in the story
read a book from or set in any of these years 1900 1912 1924 1936 1948 1960 1972 1984 1996 2008 2020
Ox - read a book where someone shows great patience or stubbornness

I'm slowly but surely catching up on my TBR Spin reads! I keep saying that and it keeps not being true. But I have made some progress recently!
I read my June book in August and it was really good! I made an effort to add a lot of short story collections in this year's spin stack and this collection has been on my shelves since 2022 or before!!
As far as I know, Carman Maria Machado only writes short works. I really love the way she is able to write contained or full feeling stories in the short form.
Her Body and Other Parties is def a horror collection with themes of sex, bodies, relationships (familial and romantic), queerness and tv zeitgeist.

Recently I had a day or two to get stuff done!! Spend a day with me ticking items off my todo list!
I make a to do list basically every day! I make them for home stuff, I make them for work! Do you use list to help you be productive?
As usual in my vlogs there are cats, books, food and a little bit more about my life in NJ.
In my 40s diaries was inspired in part by creators who are journaling their own decades, ages, and lives.

In July it was Giallo July and Summerween. While I technically missed Summerween I still wanted to use the prompts from both readathons for my reading this month.
Giallo July was created by @TheBookubus @pastorytime2683 (& others) and is a readathon to read and watch Giallo stories. Giallo was an Italian movement of film and books that were thrillers and mysteries, violent and explotative, sexy and murderous. For this readathon, reading books with Giallo vibes
The Ween readathons, Summerween, Weekendween, etc... are created by @gabbyreads and @oliviareadsalatte and happen every few months. This iteration is a SummerWeen (youtu.be/pDocuYZbLp0). There are soo many fun readathon videos out there, I suggest looking up the tag and watching many of them! All the Weens are for reading spooky books outside (or inside) spooky season. It's a great time to read horror, thrillers, mystery, etc...
Did you participate in Summerween? What was your favorite book you read?

In 2024, I've started a new series where I go through the dozens of boxes and hundreds of books that have been languishing in my basement for over 8 years. It's time to go through these books!!
I thought that these boxes were gonna be all books, but we had quite a few other items in there as well. Sketch books, notebooks, VHS, art pieces, and more!

I had a hankering to read some portal fantasy! I've been wanting to read The Wayward Children Series for a while. I did not expect to binge the whole series!! So a lot of this vlog is all about my experience reading that. I also read a portal fantasy that was a favorite of mine when I was younger.
So keep watching to see me read an entire series, and a reread!
Portal Fantasy is one of the sub genre of fantasy that I really enjoy. I love the idea of other worlds lurking right besides our own. What is your favorite kind of fantasy reads?
Please let me know if you have suggestions for other portal fantasy or portal world books!!

Every year in May, we go to the VNA Rummage Sale in Far Hills NJ. This is a huge rummage sale and of course they have a huge book section!! Many of the books in this video revisit are from there! May was a bog month, partly for that reason!
Do I read all the books that I haul? Do you? I'm also making a priority TBR as I go through these hauls. If you see any books you think I should read, let me know in the comments below!
I really love watching Haul Revisit videos. Who are your favorite creators doing these videos?

For my July Wrap Up, we have a booktube first! I binge read an entire series! And to no one on booktube's surprise, I did indeed love The Wayward Children Series. Maybe not quite as much as some other booktubers, but I did love it.
I also read golden age mystery, non fiction, women's prize nominated, spooky books, lit fic.... a wide range of genres and books!
Overall it was a chaotic, scattered, weird reading month, but a great reading month!
Have you ever read an entire series, basically back to back? If so, which was it and was it worth it??

For Women in Translation month this year, I thought I would talk about the 15 books by women in translation that I have read since last year at this time. The eagle eyed among you may have noticed I forgot one!! I thought about editing it in, but instead, this gives me an excuse to do another video! And plus I still mention 15 books, so the title is almost accurate!
I have been really enjoying trying to read a lot of works in translation this year (and last year!) and it's fun to get to talk about those written by women here again! Along side the 14 women authors I read since last year there are also 10 women translators on this list.
Women in Translation Month is a time to celebrate women authors whose works have been translated! Anyone can join in! Bonus points if the translator is also a woman!
What's your favorite book by a woman in translation? What is your most read translated language?

Last month I went on my annual trip to visit my best friend's cats! I even got to see my best friend this trip.
I got to hang out with my cat nephews in Ohio for 6 days. I ate good food, read some books, bought a LOT of books, saw some sights, and got to explore some new places.
I love to go on vacation to places that I have been before. You feel comfortable, but get to have those vaca feels and get to explore new things (if you want). It was really nice to be back in the same area, go to places I had been before and really enjoyed (like all the great local bookstores) but also feel confident enough to try some new things, too. Like new bookstores!
I made a pack with me video which you can see here: youtu.be/ris-4aGyfUI
I also will be putting out a book haul video from this trip... eventually. Some of my books are still in Ohio. When those books get to NJ, you'll see a book haul shortly after.

I'm slowly but surely catching up on my TBR Spin reads!
I keep saying that and it keeps not being true!
For my May TBR Spin I got Build Your House Around My Body. I looked at the prompt in June, but It took me until July to finish this book. I feel like many of my TBR Spin picks have suffered from the way I chose, or when I chose, to read them. I decided to start reading Build Your House late in June, thinking I would finish it up before I traveled in early July. Since that didn't happen, I figured I would finish it on my vacation. That didn't happen either! I ended up finishing this book after I returned to NJ. It took me almost 2 weeks to read 1 book under 400 pages. That's a long time for me. I feel like my reading experience suffered from the time being so drawn out. I still really enjoyed this book, but I wonder if I would have liked it more if my reading had not been so broken up?
How do you like to read? Do you read one book at a time until it's done? The start the next? Is your reading fluid, or all broken up?
Build Your House had a lot of really interesting themes and ideas. It would make a great book for discussion.
Are you participating in the TBR Spin this year? What was your May book?
The rules for TBR Spin are simple! In Jan we pick 12 books and each month one of the two hosts will spin a wheel to help us pick what books to read from our stacks for that month. I always like to make this video in July, bc I want to see my full first 6 months in the Mid Year Book (Freakout) Tag. I want to make sure that I can check in with my goals and stats.
I love these check in tags bc they really make you think about how your reading has gone in the half or quarter of the year. You also get to think of how you want to spend or what you want to do for the remaining portion of the year!
Biggest surprise, disappointment, fav book of the year, new favorite character, and so many more fun questions are in this tag along with some charts and stats!
Let me know some of your most anticipated books were for the beginning of the year? Have you read them yet or do you still need to? Are there any books still to come out that you cant wait to read?
This tag is one that all booktubers do and there's no need to be tagged or to tag. But if you want to feel tagged, consider me tagging you! Or please feel free to answer these questions in the comments below!
Prompts:
How’s your reading year going so far this year?
How many books have you read so far this year?
1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2024

June was another great reading month!! I read so many queer books this month! But also mysteries, translated works, books that are new to me or 2024 releases, books that have been on my TBR forever!!
I love reading for Pride month, but I also love reading queer books all year long!
I made progress on some of my books lists! I read for 22 Books I Found Out About in 2022, and Wanted to Read in 2023, I read books from my Summer TBR and from my 24 in 24 lists.
Did you make progress in any of your lists of goals in June? What was your fav book you read for Pride Month?

It's time for me to go to Ohio once again! I get to see my cat nephews and my BFF. But before anywhere I have to pack!!
Pack with me to go away for 7 nights and 6 days taking only a backpack and a personal item.
I like to pack light and sustainably whenever I can. This year is the second in a row that I've gone on basically the same trip. Will my packing change? Will I pack more or less for this trip?
How many books is too many to bring on a trip?
Are you a heavy packer or a light packer? Do you think I packed too much or too little?
Ohio vlog and book haul coming soon... But in the meantime, check out last year's videos!

Right after I made my last Booklist Reading Vlog (youtu.be/d78WFl01OPk), I started another one!
The last vlog was reading 3 books from 3 booklists. In this vlog I'm concentrating on my 2022 booklist. This is a list of 22 books I found out about in 2022, and wanted to read in 2023. This was the 3rd year I made a list like this but the one I've made the least progress on. I thought it was high time to work on this challenge. There were a few queer books on this list, so it also seemed like a good time to read queer books for pride!
So in this vlog, I read 3 queer novallas from my 2022 booklist and I have such a good time!! Let me know if you've read any of the books I read here!
Do you make book lists each year? Do you read all the books off of them within the year?
If you're wondering about 2024, I just made a 24 in 24 list from books I already owned. Since I've been trying to acquire less books in 2024, I wanted another way to read down my TBR.

This is part two of the books I acquired in April 2022. This video features books I found in that month. Check out the last vid for those that I bought.
Do I read all the books that I haul? Do you? I'm also making a priority TBR as I go through these hauls. If you see any books you think I should read, let me know in the comments below!

What the most striking LFL you've visited and where was it? I loved this new Lifeguard tower LFL I found in Point Pleasant, NJ.

In 2024, I've started a new series where I go through the dozens of boxes and hundreds of books that have been languishing in my basement for over 8 years. It's time to go through those books!!
I feel like this was a speed run of two boxes! Maybe bc the first one has all the same sort of books in them...
Also, Irving gave me a hard time in this one!
This video is part unboxing, part haul, and part unhaul!
Ideally, since I am on a book acquiring ban, I hope that I can unhaul the majority of the books.

At the beginning of every year, like many booktubers, I make a list of books that I want to read through out the year. And like many booktubers, I rarely complete reading the books on that list by the end of the year. Unlike other booktubers, I usually base the list on books I had heard about the previous year. I find out about books all year, some current, some new, some backlist. I keep a list of these and compile my yearly list from that.
So I have a list of 20 books I found out about in 2020 and wanted to read in 2021.
A list of 21 books I found out about in 2021 and wanted to read in 2022.
And a list of 22 books I found out about in 2022 and wanted to read in 2023.
In this video I read one book from each list!I

In May, I read less books than any other month this year, so far. Is that good? Yes, bc one of my goals this year was to read less. Or at least not read more. Am I on track to read less over all this year? Maybe not.
Something I've noticed this month, while being mindful of reading less, is that towards the end of the month, I tend to calculate how many books I can read to round out the month. I'm thinking "if I finish this this day...", and "if I read this short book...", or "I read this book by this time..." etc... Why? There's not need to calculate the books I can read in the month. I should just let it happen. So I found myself doing that in May and simply stopped. I just read what I read. No reason to stress or rush!!
That all being said, I feel weird about reading an odd number of books in a month??? IS that weird? Who else feels that way?
That didn't stop me from having a great reading month!! I read diversely and found a book that will make my best books of the year. I also solidified a favorite author, I think!
What did you read in May? Did you participate in readathons? What's your favorite Horror Novella?

I almost forgot to do a Summer TBR this year. It's really more of a pile of possibilities... and I always say I don't make real TBRs. Summer TBRs have become a tradition on my channel, tho! I like to start with some queer books I might read in June for Pride Month.
I also like to include hyped books or booktube darlings. And this year, I wanted to put in some prize list books, too. Overall, I'm super excited about this list!

I'm slowly but surely catching up on my TBR Spin reads!
Theoretically, I can catch up after posting this vlog!
Haha, I said that last vlog, and I don't think it's true this time either!
For April's prompt I picked Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino translated by William Weaver. I was really excited about this one when I borrowed it in April 2023. Just over a year is not that bad of a track record for getting to a borrowed book. We'll see how long it takes me to actually return!
I had wanted to read this book sitting at cafes in cities near me, but that didn't end up happening... So instead I took a walk around my city to see a few city scenes.
Are you participating in the TBR Spin this year? What was your April book?
The rules for TBR Spin are simple! In Jan we pick 12 books and each month one of the two hosts will spin a wheel to help us pick what books to read from our stacks for that month. The wheel has different prompts, no prompts will be repeated, and we don't know in advance what the prompts are! If you're starting this game later in the year just start your stack with the appropriate amount of books (11 for Feb, 10 for March, 9 for April and so on...) and watch the prompt video for that month. Join any time! I vlog all my TBR Spin books and pick the next months book at the end of each vlog.

I'm feeling intimidated and excited about this series! I'm looking forward to a time when it's second nature to document my life in this diary format.
It's been a rough year so far! I'm not usually one who says this is a bad year. I've never done so before. But this might be a bad year! It's certainly had it's ups and downs.
But I do believe in positive thinking, and although that can't change every situation, it can change some. I can't wish away my depression with positive thought, but I can use it to help me motivate myself to declutter my space. Giving me actual space to find more space in my mind!
This is a pretty ramble-y video, but that is def where I'm at the moment. Sometimes, I don't know if I'm coming or going.
I touch briefly on loss of a pet, a loved one, and how I'm dealing with grief in this video.
How is 2024 treating you?
What would you most like to see from this series?
In my 40s diaries was inspired in part by these creators who are journaling their own decades, ages, and lives:

In 2024, I've started a new series where I go through the dozens of boxes and hundreds of books that have been languishing in my basement for over 8 years. It's time to go through those books!!
We have two boxes in today's video and a very special guest, Flounder!
So this video is part unboxing, part haul, and part unhaul!
Ideally, since I am on a book acquiring ban, I hope that I can unhaul the majority of the books.

Cats in this video: A rare Flounder sighting. This was a tough video to edit, as we lost Flounder a few weeks ago. She was showing symptoms of kidney decease and declined very rapidly. It's been quite a shock and I'm still processing. So this video was both nice and difficult to watch while editing.

This is the second year I've done a Baseball related video for Opening Day. Last Year, I tried to get it out right around opening day. This year, I started this vlog on opening day 2024.
In this vlog I read two books about baseball, go to a local baseball game, see some baseball sights, and generally get in the Baseball Spirit!!
Do you follow baseball? Who's your team? What's your fondest baseball memory?
Books in this video:
The Incredible World Class Mets (1989) Maury Allen
Murder at the Baseball Hall Of Fame (1996) David Daniel and Chris Carpenter
Ball Four (1985?) Jim Bouton
Cats in this video: The cat's aren't that into baseball, I guess.

This is not really a tag yet, but I feel like everyone who wants to should join in!
The idea behind todays video comes from @TheBookubus and #oldschoolapril2024. Alex made a great video all about her weird childhood crushes! Check out her video here:
youtu.be/vSYTFN22QJk?si=_db67G5OU1L2WqVW
I realized while editing this video that a lot of my crushes have a lot in common. Many of the people and things on this list are underdogs: the forgotten, downtrodden, misunderstood, or made fun of. The weirdo, the dreamer. Passionate about what they love to the point of isolation. Often misinterpreted as loners, each of these people love their family, friends, or communities and fiercely protect them. And as meek or meager as they might seem, they all stand up for themselves and others. Many of this group loves reading!
I'm sure I could analyze many bad qualities this group have in common as well (independent to a fault, a little arrogant, singleminded, vain to name a few), I prefer to concentrate on the positive.
What did your childhood crushes have in common which each other? Do you see those traits in yourself?

Another great reading month in the books! So many good readathons, so many good books! Coming off the first quarter of the year, I'm doing pretty good on my goals! I read quite a few queer books, quite a few translated books, some new authors, some favorite authors. I got to read some cozy mysteries, which are my favorite genre!
I did not do a good job of getting to my reviews in a timely manner! And there was a week or so where I thought I lost some of the footage. But then I found it! That's a good example of how my month (may) is going so far (not great).
What did you read in April? Did you participate in readathons? If you had read for Giant Ape-ril, what book would you have chosen?

We're back for another 2022 Book Haul Revisit! 2022 was the first and only year that I made monthly book hauls. It was the first year I started my Recently Acquired Books Spreadsheet. This series goes hand in hand with my Basement Box Books Unboxing, Haul and Unhaul series. (If you haven't watched the first episode, it's right here: youtu.be/Z6pW6XlKJZk). I want to go back through all the books I acquired in 2022 and see what I've read, what remains unread, and if I unhauled any of the books. I made the video we're revisiting here way back in Jan 22, but I didn't post it until March of that year.
Do I read all the books that I haul? Do you? I'm also making a priority TBR as I go through these hauls. If you see any books you think I should read, let me know in the comments below!
I really love watching Haul Revisit videos. Here are a few people making them that I love to watch:

I'm slowly but surely catching up on my TBR Spin reads!
Theoretically, I can catch up after posting this vlog! (spoilers, I do not...)
March's Spin lead me to The Ones We're Meant to Find which has been on my shelves for a long time! A lot of people really didn't like this one? Do you think I did? Watch and find out!
We're still really enjoying Spring around these parts and lately we've seen some other folks enjoying it too! Deer, sheet, cows, some backyard cats, and (not pictured) opossums!
Are you participating in the TBR Spin this year? What was your March book?
The rules for TBR Spin are simple! In Jan we pick 12 books and each month one of the two hosts will spin a wheel to help us pick what books to read from our stacks for that month. The wheel has different prompts, no prompts will be repeated, and we don't know in advance what the prompts are! If you're starting this game later in the year just start your stack with the appropriate amount of books (11 for Feb, 10 for March, 9 for April and so on...) and watch the prompt video for that month. Join any time! I vlog all my TBR Spin books and pick the next months book at the end of each vlog.

I have an ongoing project where I try to visit every Little Free Library I can!
Here are so many Little Free Libraries that I went to over the Winter and beginning of Spring. It was a big change from snowy to starting to see leaves and buds come out! These are pretty much in chronological order. There might be a few repeats bc I love seeing how the libraries change a few weeks, or months apart. I've also been trying not to be too tempted to go to too many LFLs, bc I am still on my book acquiring ban!
What the most striking LFL you've visited and where was it? I loved this new Lifeguard tower LFL I found in Point Pleasant, NJ.
Check out my Little Library Original Tag:

I love doing these yearly check in Tags! In Jan, I do the Postscript Tag, in Feb I do the New Year Tag, in April is the Quarter Year Tag, next we have the Mid Year Tag. Don't even get me started on the 2nd half of the year! One of the nice things about all these tags are that you don't need to be tagged in them. Any one can do them!
So feel free to consider yourself tagged!
The Quarter Year Tag, originally called the Quarter Year CRISIS Tag, was created by @RoisinsReading

I'm back with another try a chapter, trying to get rid of more books! Will I be successful or will I want to keep all of these books after I read the first chap of each?
March is annually my TBR month! I like to go through my TBR, pare down my books, rearrange, organize, assess what I have and what I can let go. One way that I like to do that is to do a series of Try a Chapters. As I go through my selves, cleaning and organizing, I've found some books that I want to read the first few pages, or a chapter of so I can see if I really want to read them. Am I still interested in these books?
My March (and my content consistency in general) did not go as planned. I'm not sure if or when I will ever get back on track. But I did have this last try a chapter hanging around that I want to make sure got posted. Let me know if you would like to hear more of my thoughts on content, or life, or what ever! A check in of sorts!
What is your aim when you try a chapter? Do you want to find your next read? Do you want to find books to unhaul? Or are you just checking that you are still interested in the books on your TBR?

I've been participating in the #transgirlapril readathon this month! It's becoming one of my favorite yearly readathons! I also read for the Trans Rights Reasathon in March. I love that these two events surround the Trans Day Of Visibility which happens on March 31st!
These are all great reminders to read books by trans authors and about trans stories. But we should be reading these books all year long, as well!
Here are the books I read already in the month, and my pile of possibilities, that I want to read!
What's your favorite book by a trans author?
This readathon was created by @CestKevvie . She's not able to make many videos at the moment so you should check out some of her past videos. And make sure to spread the word about #transgirlapril !

I've finally read my Feb TBR Spin book!! I've been very far behind, but after reading the feb book, I think I'm turning it around!
The prompt was to read a book that makes you feel like your out in the sun and the open hydrant reminds me to such of hot days in Brooklyn!
I picked a bunch of short story collections for this year's TBR stack, and now we have read the first one!
Spring is really starting to spring around here. Just another illustration of how far behind I am! This is a far cry from when I should have actually been reading this book, way back in Feb. But I'm not complaining! I'm so happy to see flowers and have warm days!
Are you participating in the TBR Spin this year? What was your Feb book?

One of my goals for 2024 was to read les than in the previous year. So far this year, I have not read less. But in March, I only read ("only" is a ridiculous term to use here, I know!) 14 books. Part of me was sad, or like aw, I didn't read as much..., but part of wanting to read more is not worrying about what or how much I'm reading. So in a way it was nice to not be trying to read more. (if you want more of my thoughts on this, let me know!)
And I read soo many great things in March and had a great reading month. I got to read a ton of my favorite genre, mystery! I got to read some of my favorite authors and I got to find new mystery authors, too! I read over a span of almost 100 years, based on publication date! I love when that happens! I also read some sequels, some translated works, poetry, horror, and more!!
What did you read in March? Did you participate in readathons?
