Interview with Sarah Thomas, 2021 CREW Network Convention Featured Speaker CREW Network 2021-10-29 | On April 8, 2015, Sarah Thomas was one of nine new game officials added to the National Football League (NFL) officiating roster for the 2015 season, becoming the first full-time female official--but being hired in 2015 was only the first step. In early January 2019, it was announced that she would make history again as the first female to officiate a postseason NFL game. Thomas worked the divisional round game between the LA Chargers and New England Patriots on January 13, 2019. To wrap up her 2020 season, Thomas shattered the glass ceiling by being selected to work Super Bowl LV in Tampa, Florida, making her the first female to ever work a Super Bowl.

While it seemed crazy at the time for a girl, she started a curb, gutter, and sidewalk concrete firm that expanded its construction expertise and capabilities into a large construction company. In keeping with breaking non-traditional roles, Alvarado made history in 1991 by becoming the first Latino owner (male or female) of a Major League Baseball franchise, the Colorado Rockies. Her ownership is also significant as it marked the first time that any woman was involved in a bid for ownership of an MLB team.A nationally recognized speaker, Alvarado has given presentations for corporations, national business conferences, professional sports events, universities, and schools motivating young girls and women of all ages to excel and achieve their dreams.
