Frozen Night - Fragmenting Frozen Night 2024-02-29 | The album is finally here with this final concluding song! Thanks so much everyone for all your continued support over the last three years. It was difficult and stressful, but I'm glad all this hard work paid off. Here's a song I made for the album in late 2022 that appeared on Ponies at Dawn: Wanderlust. This was a very hard-hitting song that follows the events after Laniakea's Curse told from Idylya's perspective. At this point, the story follows two time periods, and this song describes events in the present with Idylya confronting Terra Nova. Frozen Night - Zuriaks Resolve (vc. Yoed Nir) Frozen Night 2023-04-22 | Hi, I'm back with another track from Time's Arrow! This one's from chapter seven and is more of a theme song for Zuriak. It's meant to be a deep track focused on him adjusting to the future following Laniakea's Curse. I chose the cello for his instrument because of his bold and contemplative personality. With this song, there's only three left to compose for the album, and I have a tentative plan to release it this winter. Frozen Night - Dragon of Time (Piano Version) Frozen Night 2023-03-17 | “Hey, don’t get too excited.” Scarlet playfully comments as she sets the lantern down near the entrance and joins him. She takes a seat on the bench and removes the sheet of music from her saddlebag as Zuriak moves to the side. She then places it on the music rack and studies the score.“It’s been so long since I last played haha.” She says with mild embarrassment. Zuriak gives her a warm and encouraging smile. “Let’s see, the first three measures are E, C sharp, D sharp, B then C sharp.” Scarlet taps one white key, two black keys, one white key, then another black key in succession. “The next four measures are D sharp, E, D sharp, C sharp, D sharp, E, E again, G sharp, D sharp, D sharp again, G sharp, and C sharp.” She continues, stroking each key as she reads it aloud, though her expression changes to a mild daze upon hearing this phrase. She then repeats the same four measures fluidly, appearing more bewildered this time. Zuriak looks at her with concern.“Is something the matter?”“I think I’ve heard this melody before.” She proceeds to slowly play the whole passage as written, no longer instructing Zuriak. “It’s so familiar.” Scarlet immediately puts a hoof to mouth and gasps. Zuriak looks at her confusedly.“It’s the melody my mother used to play for me when I was little. I knew these notes looked familiar, but I had to hear them to confirm.”“Are you saying your mother wrote this?”“Not exactly. Years ago before I was born, my mother was traveling back home from Kyrinia, and it was getting dark, so she decided to camp for the night in the forests near the Peaks. Throughout that night, she frequently awoke due to nightmares of grotesque creatures and demons she couldn’t describe. On the third time she awoke, a beautiful melody was heard within the forest. It sounded like a duet between a violin and flute that soothed her soul. She tried to investigate where the melody was coming from, but the notes seemed to vanish as soon as she got too close. When she returned to the campsite, she no longer experienced these terrible dreams. She tried recreating the somber melody on the piano we used to have at home and wound up arranging it into something more. Frozen Night - Terra Novas Aria (voc. Kjellska, vln. Hannah K. Watson) Frozen Night 2022-12-20 | Hi, happy holidays everyone, here's one last song to finish out 2022! Apologies for not having anything to post here on youtube these last few months. I am still riding a burnout and the songs that are ready to post still need artwork. It is just a waiting game at this point. This type of song is very different than what I usually write, and I'm glad I got a chance to record some acoustic guitar for the first time. Similar to Idylya's Lullaby, I wanted to give Terra Nova an instrument that says a little about her personality and character. I felt violin best describes her because it's expressive, forward and bold. Thanks again for your guys' continued support during this difficult time for me. Ambient.White OST - Rebirth Frozen Night 2022-07-24 | Here's one of the last songs I wrote for Ambient.White years ago. This was for a cutscene before a battle sequence. Frozen Night - Laniakeas Curse (feat. Holly Frances Royle) Frozen Night 2022-05-22 | Here's a pretty big upload from me that was featured on the most recent @PoniesAtDawn album Zenith! I've spent around two and a half months working on this one trying to get the right sound, timbre and mood because of how important it is in the story. This is a titular scene that separates the two halves of the story where Zuriak is caught in the time cube. The character in the background is the Ethereal Matriarch, Laniakea, the kirin goddess that watches all and grants the chosen kirin's powers (e.g Ivory Frost and Terra Nova). This song is supposed to have the most impact out of any other song on the album, in my opinion, along with the final one.So in addition to this song, I'd like to also provide all of you with the lore document I've been constructing since Dec 2020 in regards to the album. It's nearly 40 pages and contains background information on the world of Time's Arrow/Thorn of The Frozen Star along with key characters and how they interact. I don't plan on adding anything super critical to the document, but I feel that a lot of the things I write in these descriptions come off as confusing from someone who doesn't know anything about the story. Ambient.White OST - The Light and Its Shadows Frozen Night 2022-04-30 | It's been a while since I last uploaded something for the game, three months I think? This was another thing I wrote in 2018 that follows closely with The Heart of Battle. To tell you all the truth, the more I go back and look at these old projects the more I realize they would've not worked in a video game environment mostly because there's too much going on in the song. I'm realizing these songs would've always fit better as concept songs for the game rather than backing tracks. I've always had doubts about my presence on the game, but I feel this would've ultimately been the best course of action for these songs. I still can't wait to release the final two songs when they are ready!On an unrelated note, I have a big song coming up in May that was submitted to P@D Zenith! It features a titular scene in Time's Arrow that bridges both parts of the story. Frozen Night - Rhayla Solarias Sonatina (vla. Patrick Monnius) Frozen Night 2022-03-18 | Here's a short song from Time's Arrow featuring the kirin empress, Rhayla Solaria. I wanted to write something short and quick for her theme mainly because she doesn't have much presence, but still plays a significant role. You might have noticed, but I've been wanting these character themes to have one solo performer playing a different instrument. Each character has their own instrument e.g Idylya and the flute, and Terra Nova with the violin. Frozen Night - Awakening (feat. SDreamExplorerS) Frozen Night 2022-02-22 | Finally got around to uploading my P@D Aurora song featuring SDreamExplorerS on lead guitar! This is also another Time's Arrow song very early in the story where Zuriak and Idylya meet Terra Nova and her guild of kirins for the first time. I wanted to write a song that encompasses both Zuriak and Idylya's journey in the first few chapters and Terra helping them return home. If you're familiar with Thorn of The Frozen Star, you're probably confused about this interaction, but it is another deep subject that I explore in the story. Sometime in the next couple of months, I will make an announcement regarding the story as I would like to release that either by the end of the year or early next year.It's been a while since I last uploaded Time's Arrow stuff, but the album is very much still being worked on. Ambient.White OST - Snowfall (Orchestral Version) Frozen Night 2021-12-07 | This version of Snowfall was meant to be the main menu theme, however it was rejected because it didn't capture the atmosphere correctly. At the time, I decided to go at it from a different angle, and produced a more ambient song that fit a bit better. I didn't think it was worth trashing this song, so I felt it would serve better as a bonus track. Currently, I don't know if it will be used in the game or any demos.So, some good news, I will be releasing all the work I did for Ambient.White early next year! I received permission to upload all remaining songs I made for the game in light of the 2024 delay. Now, what does this mean exactly? The music I wrote between 2017 and 2019 for AW is something that I do not consider to be my best work nor do I think it really fits as a soundtrack, so I figured at this point, it is time to release what I have. These songs will not be in the 2024 game, but they will likely be used in demos and videos by the development team, if they choose to do so. Frozen Night - The Siege of Kyrinia Frozen Night 2021-09-24 | It's here! I'm finally able to upload my submission to the last Ponies at Dawn album: Oceansong with song art drawn by freeedon! This one features another scene from Time's Arrow towards the end of the first half of the story. The scene is reminiscent to previous artwork I got for Thorn of The Frozen Star with the dragon Zuriak fighting a new kirin that will be explored more in the next two songs I plan on uploading.So, where am I in the Time's Arrow development? It's difficult to say, but I'd say I'm somewhere around the 33% mark. As of now, I've received feedback on the first half of the story, so now I've been going through fixing and rewriting some areas, and doing some polishing. For music, I plan on uploading two more songs for 2021, a theme for the kirin, and my next Ponies at Dawn song, which is nearly complete. That will put me at five songs plus one bonus. I'm still targeting around 10-12 songs total for the album, but that is tentative as I'm figuring out how to best represent scenes from the story musically. I'm planning on doing a stream in late November outlining all the progress I made in 2021, delving into what Time's Arrow is, and answering questions people may have on this project. Frozen Night - Idylyas Lullaby (Piano Version) Frozen Night 2021-08-18 | A bonus track for Idylya's Lullaby. Was playing around with piano when I wrote the theme a couple months ago and decided to roll with it. Couldn't get it to work in the original song, so I felt it would be neat to make it a standalone and embellish it a bit. The picture was commissioned many months ago and is from a scene in the story using the dragon's older designs that I didn't flesh out at the time. The next song I plan on uploading is The Siege of Kyrinia from the last Ponies at Dawn album. Frozen Night - Idylyas Lullaby (fl. Kim Fleuchaus, voc. Velvet R. Wings) Frozen Night 2021-07-13 | Hey, first upload in five months! Here's the theme of Idylya, one of the main characters in Time's Arrow. Like with Ivory in my previous album, she is a flutist and plays a significant role in the story. She, along with Zuriak and most lung dragons in Ithral reside in Nymerion, and this scene in particular is from the Arboretum located below the city proper. The lyrics are written in Zyntrithian, a language I'm constructing that will play a key role in much of the story, so expect a couple other songs to be written the same.At the moment, I have several beta readers reading through the first six chapters, so progress is still getting made. This has been a long stretch between uploads as I am waiting for commissions to finish before I can post them, but I am actively producing music in the mean time such as Terra Nova's theme and another story-driven song for one of the chapters. Frozen Night - Nymerion Frozen Night 2021-02-12 | It's been a bit since my last upload, but I've been hard at work for my next project. Last December I started brainstorming ideas on how to construct the next major album and after some reflection on the Thorn of The Frozen Star, I felt there was too much left unsaid and the story felt very incomplete. I took this as an opportunity to expand the universe I constructed and turn it into a full-fledged project with a deep story and immersive lore. The 'prequel' album, "Time's Arrow", will mostly feature Zuriak, the dragon from my previous album plus a wide array of new characters including other oriental dragons, kirin, and ponies. The story is meant to explore the events that led up to Thorn of The Frozen Star and give context to the kirin/dragon conflict. I felt that in the previous album, his character fell flat and his motives were ambiguous which made the narrative seem too contrived and predictable in my opinion. I am currently writing the story and unlike the last album, it will be a comprehensive tale written like a novel. In addition to the story, the album will feature many more art pieces.Nymerion is the capital city of in the oriental dragons' country, Ithral. It is at the heart of a dense forest built within a waterfall valley. It is one of the primary settings for Time's Arrow, and the birthplace of Zuriak. Many years before the events of Thorn of The Frozen Star, Equestria was broken up into several different countries based on the creatures living in those regions. On a modern Equestria map, Ithral is the patch of forest directly east of the Peaks of Peril on the rocky plateau. Andra Stefan) Frozen Night 2020-10-22 | I am proud to finally release the final rendition of Lunar Eclipse after slaving away on it for two and a half months! Seeing the latest P@D's album theme made me want to revisit this one last time to see how far I've come along since 2016. It is hard for me to put into words all the time I put in along with the numerous revisions it went through during production. I want to thank PrinceWhateverer for putting up with all my guitar revisions. It was hard settling on something and I still have trouble working with others on music, but he really pulled through and I am thankful for everything he did. Ambient.White OST - Snowfall Frozen Night 2020-07-03 | Here's another track I composed for the upcoming game Ambient.White. This track premiered in the latest ambient.white update video early last month, though it featured a much older version that I did not like that much. I reworked the song a bit and brought it up to 2020 standards, and as of now will be the new title screen track.I know some of you may be wondering what the deal is with this game. Unfortunately, I have no answers aside from 'the game is still actively being worked on'. My work for the game is complete, and I do not get all internal updates, but I am called upon to polish some tracks when needed. Frozen Night - Embrace The Light (voc. Aeralie Brighton, vln. Maria Grigoryeva) Frozen Night 2020-06-13 | Hey, my first original song of 2020. Back in April, I bought Ori and the Will of the Wisps and was blown away by the soundtrack (no surprise there) along with gameplay and atmosphere. I knew I had to make another Ori song, but I wanted this one to pay more homage to the style of the soundtrack. I commissioned Maria to perform the violin part I wrote, as I was not satisfied with my solo libraries. I felt they couldn't handle the transitions as cleanly as I'd like, and in some cases they seemed too expressive. In addition to live violin, I had the honor of working with Aeralie on this song as well. We've spent the past month going back and forth on vocal ideas and settled on including them in the latter half of the song as that is where I felt they could really shine. She was just wonderful to work with, and it has been a dream of mine to get her on a song once I felt I was good enough to have professional vocals.On an unrelated note, I got a job offer a couple weeks ago to work elsewhere and will be starting next week. I'm glad my unemployment period can finally come to an end. I will be unlisting my update video as it is no longer relevant, and I'd like to thank every person who either left a comment or bought my discography/CDs during this time. I'm sincerely grateful to have a supportive community. Following Ivory's fall into one of the peaks, she regains consciousness in a crystal cave system underneath the rocky surface, and is ambushed by Zuriak. I've finished the GDoc containing the story of each song, my thoughts, and details on why I chose the art I commissioned.I started this song last December and it is the one I am most proud of by far. I don't know what to say honestly. I never expected it to end this way when I started it 13 months ago. Frozen Night - Zenith (feat. Velvet R. Wings) Frozen Night 2019-10-19 | "Storm"The story continues with Ivory trekking the Peaks of Peril. In this scene I wanted to begin the two-part battle scene in the skies, and give it an ominous and grandiose vibe. I took a guess and assumed that kirins have natural fire abilities similar to firebenders from Avatar: The Last Airbender such as being able to propel through the air and throwing blasts of fire etc to make this work. Conversely, Zuriak counters the fire with ice showcasing the dichotomy of the two elements. The title of this track refers to their ascent higher as the battle continues forth. This moment in particular is a devastating blow that flings both of them back towards the peaks and concludes this phrase. This is my most hybrid track to date with lots of electronic elements that I experimented with, and I'd like to explore the genre more in the future. Sound design can get pretty crazy and it is my weakest area of musical knowledge. Definitely something I need to work on.I want to thank Velvet for assisting me on this track once again. She has been an integral help to this project in the past few months and I'm glad she was up to the task. It is extraordinarily difficult finding female vocalists of this style in the fandom, so I'm thankful it worked out.The album releases November 11, and is available for pre-order below. Frozen Night - Equilibrium Frozen Night 2019-09-13 | "Meditate"The next song is here! I finished this one back in February, though at the time it was the intro phrase to the succeeding song Zenith. I felt that it added a lot of unnecessary length to it and didn't contribute a whole lot to the feel of the song, so I branched off and transformed it into a hybrid track. In this scene, Ivory reaches equilibrium between her magic and the moon's phase. This occurs about a month after Crescentiform as she nears the end of training. Frozen Night - Crescentiform (feat. Velvet R. Wings) Frozen Night 2019-08-17 | "Moon"I'm sort of back after a dead period, but I'm glad I can finally share another track off the EP. This one's been in the works since December, and has changed drastically since then. It is a continuation off of the song Fire and Frost I released back in March and details events where the main character Ivory discovers her cosmic ability to save the village. The term 'crescentiform' refers to any object with a crescent-like shape. Part of Ivory's horn is shaped to match a crescent as part of a prophecy that occurs every era. As it currently is, the mix is still pretty messy and will be revisited before album release, but that along with more of the story will be updated within the next month or two.Additionally, I am incredibly grateful Velvet R. Wings was able to sing in this track along with the other two major songs on the album. It is wonderful being able to work with a talented vocalist who seemed enthusiastic about the project as well. This was my first attempt at writing my own lyrics and vocal melodies, so some parts do seem off, but I'm satisfied with the end result. The third song will likely be up next month and so on. Frozen Night - Unsung Frozen Night 2019-05-02 | "Sing my song and become nothing"This song is a bit difficult to explain, but I'll do my best. If you have not read it yet and do not want to be spoiled, please do not read further. Back in December/January, I started reading Background Pony. It was mostly to keep myself occupied while I was traveling this past winter, and I never finished reading it back in the day because of the time commitment required. (500K words!) It is an engaging read, and I enjoyed every minute reading it to the point where I grew too immersed within the story and Lyra. The last chapter was difficult to get through, but it motivated me to work on this piece. This song is not meant to be the ten elegies. I felt there was no need to reinvent the wheel, as a couple of musicians have already done so. I chose to musically recreate Lyra's adventure into the unsung realm and confronting Aria. It is broken up into four parts each retelling her multiple journeys through the realm in different ways. For example, the part at 2:15 is more of a soundscape-ish interpretation of the realm that leads up to Aria's reveal, while the part at 4:15 is what I believed Desolation's Duet sounded like. The song concludes on Lyra making the final decision. Originally, I had lyrics written and a vocalist lined up for it, but I had to forfeit them at the last minute. Frozen Night - Fire and Frost Frozen Night 2019-03-02 | "Grove"I am currently in the process of composing another EP that I started in September of last year. It is vastly different from my 2017 EP and will tackle a musically-driven story I am putting together about a kirin and a wyvern. I don't want to get into too much detail as I'm not completely finished with the story, but it is my own canon on kirin history. The reason I decided on this topic is because I believe the show writers will not go further into kirin culture, lore, or their presence in equestria beyond what was shown in season 8. Also kirins are cool as fuck.I decided to upload the opening track as sort of a teaser and to give you all an update on what's going on. The goal of the track is to introduce the two character's I've created for my narrative. I wanted it to begin off OST-like (Oblivion style), then gradually transition into the journey with large percussion and more moving parts. The EP will contain a collection of hybrid, atmospheric, and orchestral elements featuring vocals from people I have yet to announce.I'm not a fanfiction writer, and I do not consider myself good enough to properly write this story in a way that would do it any justice. Instead I'm preparing a document that will explain the events of each picture and tie in the whole story arc. It will also explain my thought process behind certain key points, and give all necessary details of each song. I will make the document publicly available once it is complete and set in stone which should be around release time.In regards to the album release, preorders will begin around April/May; 2-3 months before release. There will be a limited run of physical CDs, about 100 or so. These are not kunaki jewel case CDs, I will instead be printing high quality digipaks. Deltarune - Before The Story (Orchestral Remix) Frozen Night 2018-11-11 | I'm not a remix artist, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to remix every song in Deltarune's OST. I wanted to pay tribute to this game's phenomenal soundtrack, and this particular track hit me the hardest despite it only appearing on the file select screen. I spent my entire Saturday yesterday arranging this piece to challenge myself to create a song in only a day since I've been having difficulty coming up with new content. Frozen Night - Unity Frozen Night 2018-10-08 | This is by far the largest and most complex project I've made to date, and fairly difficult to write. It originally was going to be for The Magic of Nature, and my project log says it was started in January of 2017, but I couldn't get it to meld well with the theme of the EP, not to mention I lacked a lot of the instruments back then that I now have today that were required. If some of you are familiar with that EP you may notice a familiar melody at 3:35 that I could not part with, and felt it must be there to give one final callback to everything I put into that album. I suppose in a sense, this would be Movement VI, but I feel it is its own entity. The picture I commissioned for this song is an interesting one. I wanted to return to a forest-like landscape akin to the EP, but have the scene sort of depict a conclusion to the whole arc, that is, it's set at dusk, and my character looking glum and contemplative.Now that this song is out there, I have taken a less aggressive approach for writing music and will be more laid back for the next album in progress. It will take some time, but in the meantime, I'm opening up commissions to help pay for the libraries I am going to need to work on this project. I will still stick to my home genre for the most part, but there will be more branching going on in the near future to help expand my palette. Additionally, I've thought about putting together another EP that focuses on something vastly different than last year's EP. I don't want to get too much into it, but it will largely be story-driven with some themes from an episode this season that I've grown attached to. Frozen Night - Her Nightmare Frozen Night 2018-06-23 | I am both pleased and frustrated with the final result of this song. It is absolutely apparent my computer can no longer handle projects like these. It was difficult to mix with all the buffer underruns and crashing, and I had to settle on changes I wasn't too keen on. But I am satisfied with the result, and I hope you all are even if there are some areas that didn't sound quite right. I really wanted to go for a nightmare moon theme but could not find the right picture for it. My searches usually came up with images people have used a thousand times or they just didn't provoke me to write. I feel this picture best describes the atmosphere I was trying to go for in the song.This is the last track that will appear on the album to be released June 29. Frozen Night - Tears of The Evernight Frozen Night 2018-05-26 | Hey all, here is my latest track. Writer's block has hit me hard since my last track and this song was a bit of a struggle. You could probably pick out parts I had difficulty structuring, but hopefully these mishaps aren't too glaring. I picked up a bunch of new instruments such as a new rock drum library to finally replace the ezdrummer samples I've been using for years. Additionally I picked up Cinepiano which was released last month and is a serious upgrade from my last piano which didn't feature a whole lot of customizable settings. And finally, I bought the new string library from Auddict which contains an exorbitant amount of string articulations that I'd like to try out in the future. They weren't as prominent in this song, but will likely be in my next.I'm being made aware that not a lot of people know of my next album: Into the Evernight which is my fault as I failed to realize how many of my listeners do not follow me on social media or are on discord. I am compiling all my solo tracks from the past year barring P@D submissions into a compilation album similar to how The Ethereal Forest was structured. The tentative release date is June 29, and I am making my best effort to meet that goal. There is still one more track to finish before releasing so expect another new song next month. Hopefully things are going to get better soon. You can pre-order the album on my bandcamp below for $1.My plans following this album and the next P@D album this summer are relatively up in the air, and I have little direction on where to go from here, so I would like to open up commissions towards the end of summer to help fund building a new computer. I'd take something along the lines of three slots, but more news on that later this summer.Lastly, Radiarc and mine's orchestral music panel was approved for Bronycon this year. He plans on making up a formal announcement video on the panel next month so stick around for that. We'll be going over orchestral libraries, production techniques, and tips on how to get started along with a Q&A at the end. It will be my first panel and I'm pretty awful at public speaking, but we'll see how it goes.This is probably the most I've written on any video description haha. Frozen Night - Dragonfire Frozen Night 2018-03-03 | Submitted to Ponies at Dawn: Rebirth. I'm glad I can finally upload something after it's been a while. Tried to do something more far-eastern themed this time around with a mix of exotic instrumentation. Came across this picture while looking for mist mane themed art, and it was pretty much the driving force of the whole song. I'm glad how it turned out and feel it is my best work to date, though listening to it again I know I could've done better. It's the musician's curse, to never be satisfied with the final mix. More music will pick up soon, I'm mostly working on assignments for Ambient.White now but that'll finish up this month. Frozen Night - Loneliness Frozen Night 2017-12-25 | Happy holidays! This one is more minimalist and atmospheric compared to my other tracks. I was heavily influenced by the trailer for Ori and the Will of the Wisps along with Gareth Coker's fantastic trailer music. I'm not sure how many of you have played the Blind Forest, but I've been trying to incorporate more mallet percussion similar to the soundtrack of that game (ie the music for Black Root Burrows) along with exotic instruments I don't quite have the money for yet. Frozen Night - Pearl White Eyes Frozen Night 2017-11-05 | Inspired by Mount Aris from the movie. I had a lot of ideas after seeing the movie but I felt that since everyone was so quick to writing Tempest Shadow themes, I wanted to try something different using more tuned percussion and exotic instruments. This one is a bit slower and more mysterious compared to my other stuff, but it was a lot of fun to write.
