Another Sewing Class this year??? #sewing #houston BlueprintDIY 2024-09-26 | Today is the final class for the second round of my 6 week introcution to sewing class and I wasn't planning on opening up a new one until March, but y'all want more.We learned so many things like the parts of the sewing machine, how to thread a sewing machine, how to take our measurements and read patterns. We also made a tote bag, elastic waist shorts, and a t-shirt from scratch using patterns.I'm also really excited that my class is multi age, race, and gender. Y'all all rocking with me and I'm grateful! 🙌🏾Because of the holidays I was going to take a break until next year, but I've gotten a lot of requests to start another class. I could do another round that starts November 7, takes a break for Thanksgiving and finishes on December 19th. What do you think?

However, I can spend all day in a thrift store. Does it make sense...NO. But I do still love all the textures and colors of fabric and appreciate a great resource. The staff was nice and helpful and I want them to be able to stick around for a long time.After that last fabric giveaway by a local active wear manufacturer, a lot of you messaged me asking if I knew of any more local fabric stores since High Fashion Fabrics just closed this year. Well I was out and about and searched the nearest Joann Fabrics on my maps and this fabric store popped up. I decided to stop in and check it out just for you guys. 😉This is Universal Fabric Center and they do sell products online as well. They seemed to have pretty much everything so definitely check them out."

Use a safety pin to slide button elastic through the slit to the other side3. Sew down one side of the elastic4. Sew a button about an inch away from the other slit5. Cut elastic a few inches past the button6. A wonderful subscriber here had two sewing machines in storage and thought they'd better serve me. She's also been wanting to take sewing classes so this was the perfect trade.
