Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) is an uncommon but serious condition found in a small portion of regular, long-term cannabis users. CHS was only first formally described by researchers in 2004 and is still not widely known about. This syndrome typically presents as chronic gastrointestinal symptoms highlighted by intense bouts of vomiting and abdominal pain. These symptoms can be severe and can last for hours or days and frequently recur every couple of months. Cases of CHS are on the rise and it still isn’t clear why some heavy cannabis users get the syndrome, but others don't.

No-Till is an agricultural method of farming where there is minimal disturbance of the topsoil. Tilling the soil or tillage is the conventional way of farming where mechanical agitation is used to prep soil with large discs and tractors. Tilling soil year after year will cause once beautifully rich soil to become nothing but bare dirt. No-Till has massive benefits for cannabis plants and the environment.
You might be more familiar with the term "living soil". Living soil means that the earth is "alive" with organisms, microbes, etc. Thousands of microorganisms work together to create a biologically diverse ecosystem filled with beneficial fungi, bacteria, nematodes, protozoa, worms, and more.
Our guest speakers are Marco and Jake, long-time friends and the founders of No Till Kings a Long Beach-based indoor cannabis farm using the No-Till and Living Soil methods. No Till Kings don't use synthetic pesticides, instead, they incorporate beneficial insects and microorganisms to combat diseases and pests. In place of artificial nutrients, their plants rely on worms in the living soil that turn organic matter into nitrogen-rich worm castings.
Join us to learn about these two techniques, how to use them in your own garden, and how to create your own worm beds at home.

Upon return to the United States from the military over half will become dependent/addicted. This has caused far too many vets to lose their way, and in an ever-increasing pandemic, take their own lives. The Helmand Valley Growers Company is committed to ending this epidemic and providing holistic tools to veterans who desire relief.
Topical and transdermal cannabis products are applied to the skin. One of the main functions of the skin is to keep out foreign matter. Therefore, compounds will generally not as easily be absorbed through the skin, unless they have been formulated with specific ingredients that aid in skin penetration.
Topical products work on the surface of the skin and the medication does not reach the bloodstream. This means that a topical product acts locally and for the most part is not intoxicating. On the other hand, transdermal products are able to penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream, thereby allowing the effects on the whole body through distribution via the bloodstream.
Topical and transdermal products can come in many forms. Topical medications are oil-based and can be creams, ointments, lotions, gels, sprays, and foams. Transdermal medications are alcohol-based and can come in gels, paste, and patches.

To become a better patient, consumers need to learn about the various delivery methods, what products are available for them, and what a good starting point is. Once the products become familiar, patients' can choose what type of product(s) fit their lifestyle and underlying conditions better.
Another important concept is titration, how to titrate, what to start with, and how to slowly build up a dose according to the product choice (sublingual, oral, inhalation, etc.).
Once a patient selects a product and titrates up safely it’s also important to understand the positive and negative side effects that they should be looking for. Keeping a cannabis journal is an excellent way to track progress and unwanted side effects. Dr. Seth Pheng, Pharm.D. will discuss the importance of journaling which will ultimately help the patient learn more about themselves and how cannabis can fit in their lives.
Dr. Seth Pheng, Pharm.D. has a Doctorate in Pharmacy and is currently a practicing pharmacist with over 20 years of experience in retail, hospital, clinical, and dispensary settings. He is also the co-founder of Control Ltd. which creates dosing products that help medical cannabis patients access accurate and reliable therapeutic doses.
