In this video I'm going to explain why I love Fleetway's version of Knuckles so much by running through a Sonic the Comic story arc where Knuckles leaves his home on the Floating Island to explore a little bit of Mobius. It's a series of strips renowned for the beautiful hand-painted artwork of Nigel Dobbyn and is also great for it's portrayal of Knuckles.

In this video you'll find discussion of the swirly eyed EVIL Fleetway Super Sonic, the hideous Fleetway version of Robotnik, the amazing artists that made the comic so memorable and much, MUCH more.
Over the past few years I've tried my best to introduce YouTube to Sonic the Comic, a British comic published by Fleetway which released in the 1990s. Well, what better way to introduce people to the comic than running through the comic's launch, discussing it's major storylines, highlighting it's key characters and critiquing the talented (and sometimes not so talented) writers and artists that made the comic what it is?

Hey folks, in this video I want to answer one of the most common questions people have about Fleetway's Sonic the Comic...why is Fleetway Sonic a jerk? Sonic spends plenty of time insulting, berating and humiliating friendly characters like Tails, Johnny Lightfoot and Porker Lewis and even brings some of them to tears. I've seen at least a couple of people shy away from the comic because of this strange characterisation. I'm gonna try my best to explain why Fleetway Sonic is a jerk and why that's not such a bad thing...in fact, I'd argue Fleetway Sonic is one of the best versions of Sonic and his jerkish attitude is just one aspect of a fully-formed character.

In this video I want to take you on a guided tour through Sonic fan game history. Starting in the modern era, I want to travel backwards in time, visiting some of my favourite (and some of the most important) Sonic fan games in history. Our ultimate goal is trying to figure out what the earliest known Sonic fan game might be.
Sonic fan games have changed a lot over the years. Nowadays we live in a bit of a 'golden age' of fan games, thanks to their generally high quality, but do you remember the heyday of Newgrounds or Sonic Fan Game's HQ? Games from the turn of the millennium left a huge impression on me but it's my honour to showcase (and take the mickey out of) some of my favourites.
A lot of the older fan games can be found on Archive.org or on here scaleyfoxy.weebly.com, though you'll probably need to grab DOSBox or VirtualBox to run them as a DOS or Windows XP executable.

In this video we'll be taking a look at the mysterious Tails Doll. The Doll debuted back in 1997 in racing game Sonic R. A strange character without much backstory or personality, I always got the impression SEGA considered him to be a one-off, disposable character but then something happened. Creepypastas, rumours and urban legends began circulating about Tails Doll linking him to a number of strange curses, making him one of the franchise's most well-known characters. Hey folks, recently I've played through all of the games included in Sonic Origins (that's Sonic 1, 2, CD, 3 and Knuckles) and felt it was the perfect time to do something I've wanted to do for a while: rank all of the classic zones from my least favourite to my absolute favourite!
Of course, this is all just my opinion. Please feel free to share with me your thoughts in the comments. What are your favourites and least favourites? Any zones you feel I was unfair to or praised too highly? Let me know.
As noted, I chose not to rank Final Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog), Death Egg Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog 2), Hidden Palace Zone (Sonic & Knuckles) and Doomsday Zone (Sonic & Knuckles) because I don't consider them substantial enough to talk about. In fact, I basically treat Final Zone as the boss for Scrap Brain Zone. I DO include Hidden Palace Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog 2) despite it being a more recent addition.
The thumbnail art is taken from IDW's 30th Anniversary comic. Artwork by Yui Karasuno.
Music used in this video :- Most music is fairly self-explanatory but here's a few specifics: - The video intro music is the main menu theme from Sonic Origins - The video outro music is the credits theme from Sonic the Hedgehog 3
As for Sonic CD zones, here's the music I used... - Palmtree Panic = Present Theme (Japanese OST) - Collision Chaos = Present Theme (Japanese OST) - Tidal Tempest = Present Theme (American OST) - Quartz Quadrant = Present Theme (American OST) - Wacky Workbench = Present Theme (American OST) - Stardust Speedway = Past Theme (Japanese OST) - Metallic Madness = Present Theme (Japanese OST)

Find me on Twitter: twitter.com/TheJohnnyVectorWhy Fleetway Amy is the Best AmyJohnny Vector2022-06-19 | Have you ever seen art of Amy Rose with an oversized white t-shirt, a plaid skirt, a crossbow and spiked-up spines?
That is 'Fleetway Amy'. I'm sure we all know who Amy Rose is but did you know that the British Sonic the Comic (published by Fleetway) significantly changed Amy's character, abilities and look? I'd argue that Fleetway's interpretation of Amy is, in my opinion, better than her game counterpart.
In this video I want to take a look at the history of Amy Rose in the Fleetway comics, briefly exploring some of her more famous storylines, all the while explaining the many different style and personality changes Amy went through over the course of the comic.
The art in the thumbnail is from Lixes. Please check out their Twitter (@LixesPrototype) to see more Fleetway Sonic renders and to commission your own! Thanks again Lixes. twitter.com/LixesPrototype
By the way 'Peter Android'? I reckon he's the Mobian counterpart to Peter Andre.

Find me on Twitter: twitter.com/TheJohnnyVectorHow do you pronounce Hydrocity?Johnny Vector2022-06-02 | I love Sonic the Hedgehog 3 but in the last few years I found something about the game that blew my mind. There are legions of Sonic fans out there that pronounce the second zone 'Hydrocity'. You know the zone I'm talking about, the one that feels like an underwater city? I've always pronounced it 'Hydro City' but, in reality, the zone name has no space between 'Hydro' and 'City', leading many to pronounce it like 'HydroSSity'. In this video I want to try to bring the debate to a close and try to lay out the evidence pointing us to the correct pronunciation.

Find me on Twitter: twitter.com/TheJohnnyVectorThe Mystery of the Purple HedgehogJohnny Vector2022-05-04 | I recently had the nostalgic joy of rummaging through my childhood toybox and found some interesting things in there. One figure in particular caught my eye. A mysterious purple hedgehog. A half-Sonic, half-Mario bootleg of sorts. Who is he? Where did he come from? What's his name? All your (and my) questions will be answered!
In this video I talk about this purple miniature and discuss a few other cool finds too. Remember the Sonic McDonald's toys? How about the Sonic/Judge Dredd/Street Sharks cross-over toys?
I also shared this weird little purple hedgehog with my community here on YouTube and received some interesting guesses. At the tail-end of the episode I run through some "honourable mentions" and talk about some other infamous purple hedgehogs (because when else am I going to talk about Needlemouse and Coldsteel the Hedgehog?!)

"The Ashura the Hedgehog Story ▸ From Glitch to Legend"
In this video we'll be taking a look at Ashura the Hedgehog, a fan character who started life as an obscure palette glitch from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I'll be explaining how to pull off the glitch and why the glitch happens. Then we'll be diving deeper, trying to get to the bottom of who discovered the glitch and named the green Sonic "Ashura". Finally, we'll be assessing Ashura's legacy on the Sonic fanbase and on the Archie comic book series.
