Hybrid picking workout for acoustic guitar. Brett Garsed 2024-03-04 | Here's an acoustic tune I wrote many years ago which is a killer hybrid picking workout, for me at least anyway. I haven't played it in years so I need to practice it regularly to get it better but at least I remembered it. A good thing at my age. The low E string is tuned up a minor third to G BTW. Everything else is standard.

Brett Garsed solo intro for 1988 John Farnham concert Brett Garsed 2023-07-25 | This is from the 1988 John Farnham "Classic Jack" tour with the 110 piece Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. John asked me to come up with a short intro piece so I decided to do this for the song "We're No Angels". I was inspired by Tommy Emmanuel's command of artificial harmonics but as I was unable to do that I came up with a technique of right hand pull offs to harmonics held on lower frets. I post this in honour of John and my wonderful memories of the privilege it was to tour with him for so many years. I'll never let go of the hope that we'll do it again! Also, enjoy the mullet, It was the 80's after all...

We're joined here by the amazing Mick Skelton on drums and Dario Bortolin on bass. They backed every artist that night and were just incredible. I wanted to post this in memory of Stuart Fraser who we lost to cancer a couple of years ago. He's quite simply one of the greatest musicians I've ever had the honour to work with but beyond that, he was also one of the most wonderful people I've been privileged to know and have as a friend. He should be known the world over so I hope this video alerts more people to him and the music he created during his life. He was already a legend in the Australian music scene at the age of 16 and went on to have massive success with his band Noiseworks as well as working with every major star in the country. Huge thanks to Dave Loader for allowing me to upload this clip and for filming the event.
