Utata-P, Wogura, and Toriihitsuji don't let up when it comes to finding creative new takes for their Happiness Series. I am sure some people will want to complain about how it is seemingly to criticize religion and God, but even though it references the Bible, I think that this song is more generally making a parody out of how in almost all religions from ancient ones to the Judeo-Christian era, literal interpretations or tales of God's (or Gods') actions according to myth or holy books are actually quite violent and resulted in the death of many people, and how perhaps to some people who don't share that religion or faith, looking on it from the outside, it can have an almost "well who is actually the bad guy here?"-kind of feeling about it. Also how good is wogura at drawing the cute faces with just a touch of insanity? She gets it so right here again once more!

descentsubs @Vocaloid 2015-02-02 | Since 40mP has released his 2010 album “Life Size Note” on Itunes via KarenT, I decided to share what is probably one of the lesser known tracks on the album, “Usotsuki Maker”. (Usotsuki means “liar” in Japanese). While the lyrics are perhaps a bit abstract I look at it as a cry for help by a girl/person who is reaching out looking for someone in the only way they know how while in a troubled state. I absolutely love Miku’s singing style as well as the great jazz/swing feel the whole song has. All the links for purchasing the album via iTunes or Amazon, as well as the tracklist and previews can be found on the album’s KarenT page (http://karent.jp/album/1142). While the album is listed at 1800 yen it is actually priced at $11.64 on iTunes making it a great deal. I have owned the hardcopy of this album for awhile now, but this is a great opportunity for 40mP fans to support him by getting a HQ copy of his album at a very affordable price.

So...randomly choosing to reupload this song...it has nothing to do with my state of mind, I swear! Lots of people have been requesting it though....(I wonder what that says about them :D)

-So the Red/Blue paper story is a derivation of the “damned if you do/damned if you don’t”-style Kuchisake-Onna story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuchisake-onna) that became more of a school centric urban legend. In the school version a boy gets stuck in a toilet stall having no toilet paper to wipe. A voice asks “red paper or blue paper?” The boy answers “red” and blood erupts from inside his body, covering him completely and he dies. Later on, another boy who heard the rumor can't hold it until home and gets stuck in a similar predicament. When he hears the voice he answers “blue” and the blood drains from his body, which then turns blue and he dies. The original is a lot more creepy IMO, but yeah lol.

descentsubs @Vocaloid 2015-01-22 | A lot of people have been asking for this video so my good friend Olivki and I got together to make it happen. One hard to read part is that long drawn out line “Mofureeeeeee” what it says is basically something like “OMG I want to pet/snuggle/rub my face in your fur!!!”. Well that’s about all I got so here’s Olivki’s comments: “So, after having begged Descent to translate this song, and then typesetting it for around 24 hours, it’s finally done, however, the lyrics make no god darn sense, nor does the video when I think about it. Anyways, I’m currently on the brink of insanity after spending all my free time in front of Aegisub typesetting this, so I’m just going to go and avoid any contact with cats for a few weeks.
Also, the encoder seemed to messed some of the text & timing up, sorry about that.”

One of the cutest and most subtle yandere songs you'll find. Yes, Nuigurumi means "stuffed toy/animal" in Japanese, but we all know that Mayu-chan's Mimi is a Rabbit so I went with that instead.

I’m happy to bring this updated video with nicely typeset subs by Olivki. Olivki is a kind Vocaloid fan and typesetter from Sweden who helps me out from time to time. This is by far my favorite MAYU song and one of my favorite Dixieflatline works as well. The way he weaves her yandere nature into a cute and catchy song is just so amazing. I hope you enjoy this wonderful piece along with this new subtitled video that is hopefully more fun to watch.

Following on the success of their first novel series centered around the song “This is the Happiness and Peace of Mind Committee”, Torihitsuji, Utata-P, and wogura teamed up to release another novel, this time based on the one-sided yandere love story first introduced to us in “An Earnest Unrequited Love, Wanting to Make it Bear a Little Happiness” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JV-494kWBhw). This song is a sequel to the story introduced in the original piece. UtataP ft. MAYU - “I Fall…And Stay Down” 七転び八起きない (English Subtitles)

Another reupload from the amazing trio of UtataP, wogura, and torihitsuji. Is this the beginning of a new story or just a classic song about laziness? Time will tell, but you gotta admit that it’s fun to listen to. I’ve never seen such a pumped up, fast-paced song about how lazy one is, and therein lies the joke here I believe. This song is part of a great Vocaloid compilation album, “EXIT TUNES PRESENTS Vocalofanatic feat. GUMI、IA、MAYU” (tracklist, info http://vocalofanatic.com) which you can order on Amazon, so check it out! (http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00GJHXALE)

Notes:
-One word MAYU says a lot in the song is “ikan”. While perhaps some translators would choose to translate it the same every time (it means something like “unfortunate, regrettable, ect”) I felt like added a little variety to the mix with the sentence structure and stuff instead.
-The title of the song is based on a Japanese motivational saying, “Nana korobi ya oki” meaning “Fall down seven times, get up eight”. Our fabulous production crew tweaked it by adding “nai” to basically imply that Mayu does quite the opposite, and hopefully my title reflects this.
-There are a few word play jokes too, like how the lyrics sometimes use other “ikan” works, like 行かん (don’t go) and two “Suii”s back to back, the first meaning “transition”, the second being a made-up word where the first kanji was replaced by the kanji for “sleep”.

It took me awhile to bring this upload back but I really wanted to take the opportunity to completely redo the subs for this song. Last time I hedged a bit with my translation and interpretation, but this time I interpreted the song fully and tried to lay it out in a more enjoyable and easier to understand format. Nevertheless Deco*27 has still written some lyrics that are pretty tough to interpret here. For me this song represents the way that one's desires can lead them astray, when people let their delusions affect their perception of reality and their relationships, often leading to them making very poor decisions about how to treat others. (Like reducing all your interactions with a girl you like to a series of "trying to get in her pants" initiatives rather than acknowledging her as a fellow human being) I also feel that it forms a sort of trilogy with Monopoisoner and Streaming Heart (with an epilogue in the album only "Lonely Shit"). But I'll leave the rest of the interpretation to you guys and I'll just pass along two more things:

Notes:
-In case it's difficult to understand, the song is set up where most of the time the shady "Miku" figure is speaking with a few instances of the guy speaking/thinking (like the opening lines).
-When Miku calls him a liar she is really saying "swallow a thousand needles" which is part of a phrase children used to say when making pinky-promises in Japan.
-Miku's lines about taxes would probably be more amusing to Japanese people than Americans because the phrase sounds a lot like the kind of phrases they use in school and government slogans here in Japan about why everyone needs to pay their taxes. Americas for example, don't look upon taxes so favorably and would probably not have kids writing reports on "why taxes are great" like they do here.
-The 5 seconds from 1:10 to about 1:15 really blew my mind and I missed them last time, but you can see some of the guy's "delusions" drawn in the background.
-The "that" could of course be sexual stuff, but it could just represent frustrated, unrealized dreams/hopes.

This is my first time hearing a song by producer Mastica, but from a music stand point this is definitely quite impressive. The lyrics are a bit, well, yeah, but hey just enjoy the ride lol. I tried to hold back on going into to much detail/interpretation on some parts describing all that “vivid” imagery but you can fill in the blanks for yourself. As for other Japanese related things, the first two times it appeasrs, Matica uses ateji (replacement kanji) for “Tasogare” (Evening/Twilight) and writes 誰そ彼 (誰＝who, 彼＝he/boy/guy/boyfriend) instead.

To commemorate the start of their newest novel series (http://goo.gl/rT6vp3), based on their 2012 prequel to this song, the wogura/Utata-P/toriihitsuji team put out another "on theme" song. The novel is titled "The Path to Eternal Happiness...I Found It...but... ~We see dreams of despair~" (wow that's long lol), and I'll definitely be picking it up. Is it just me or does it feel really weird for Gumi to be singing this? Also, props on Utata-P for attempting yet another style.

Utata-P ft. 初音ミク - This is the Happiness and Peace of Mind Committee (English Subs)

What better way to kick off "Utata-P" week than to bring back the song that started it all. And by all, I of course mean the excellent "Happiness Series" (http://vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/Happiness_Series) by Utata-P. With a story conceived by the talented Torihitsuji, distinctive art by wogura-san, and music by the ever excellent Utata-P, this helped the trio kick off a series of viral hits that led to a novel series and many other products. While I have never spoken to Utata-P himself, I am very grateful that he so kindly used my title for the song as the English title for the novels. It's cool that even now I can point to it when I see my students here in Japan reading the book and say "Hey, descent-sensei came up with that!". Gotta get my Vocaloid street cred somehow lol. This is one song where they got all the finishing touches just perfect and I love the slightly "insane" look one Miku's face (explained more in the books), along with the roaring cheers of the crowds as "Ondine" makes her terrifying proclamations. The title and theme of the song are also a shout of to the Happiness is Mandatory trope (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HappinessIsMandatory) which was also a notable part of the table top RPG "Paranoia" from many years ago.
