$698 Huffy Amara 29-inch Dual Suspension Mountain Bike with Hydraulic Brakes from Walmart

KevCentral 2022-11-20 | Huffy has released a new Mountain Bike sold through Walmart. The Huffy Amara is a 29er mtb with hydraulic brakes, altus drivetrain with 11-36t cassette and a full suspension aluminum frame - equipped similar to the Huffy Dakari. Weighing slightly over 35lbs, the Amara looks impressive on the spec sheet. Does that translate into a trail worthy dual suspension bike for under $700? KENT sells SCHWINN & MONGOOSE BIKES? Deals too good to be true - Questionable Websites Investigated!

KevCentral 2022-10-05 | I recently found a website that claimed to be Kent Bike, and the site had unbelievable deals. It also sells Schwinn, Mongoose, and Huffy bikes. Kent and Schwinn/Mongoose are brands owned by different companies. Knowing this, I dug into the site where I noticed many other problematic signs. I have contacted Kent and they have informed me this is NOT a site associated with them - even thought it is clearly using their logo and, in places, their support information.

Pro Rush Derailleur SNAPS IN HALF! Rare Fluke or a More Common Issue?

KevCentral 2022-10-02 | Pro Rush was introduced in 2020 on Schwinn bikes. The Pro-Rush derailleur was the first (and still only) clutched derailleur to be factory equipped on Budget Big Box Bikes from Walmart. It's an improvement over the Shinto Tourney, and has worked fairly well - UNTIL RECENTLY! I have been receiving reports that recent Schwinn and Mongoose bikes equipped with a pro rush derailleur have had the Pro Rush snap almost immediately upon riding the bike. Something that has even happened to a donated Taff.

Comment below with your experience with the Pro Rush. Has it worked reliably? If so, for how long? Did it break right away? If so, when did you purchase the bike? I would love to hear your experiences as I believe this will help get the word out and possibly motivate investigation by the mfg.

Why Your Walmart Bike is Already Broken! - NAUGHTY LIST - Walmart Stacking Bikes Before Assembly

KevCentral 2022-09-23 | Walmart sells a lot of bikes, and I own quite a few bikes from Walmart. In the past two years the features and options have increased beyond what I would have thought possible for the affordable prices. Needless to say, I like Walmart. However, that's not to say there isn't room for improvement. As seen in this video, Walmart (at least two of my local stores) stacks their bikes on pallets. This is very bad for the bike and can result in warped wheels, bent derailleur hangers, warped brake rotors, etc. For this, Walmart makes it onto the KevCentral Naughty List. Let's hope they see this video and remedy this issue so we can move them to the Redemption List!

$13 MTB Crankset - TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE?

When I purchased the kit it didn't have an associated picture, but did mention a 104 BCD and the description said external bearing bottom bracket. For only $12.99 I took the gamble and....Well, the quality looks good and it does come with a nice external bearing bottom bracket, but there is one problem when it comes to chainrings.

BIKES ARE BACK! - Full Bike Racks at Walmart - My first in-store Walmart visit in 2 years!

KevCentral 2022-05-30 | The past 2 years have been tough for budget bike shoppers. Walmart bike racks have been empty, and personally, I haven't been inside a Walmart in over 2 years. I've relied on curbside pickup and online shopping. It also hasn't been pressing since, on top of the stock levels there haven't been much in the way of new releases - new budget big box bike releases.

Today I strapped on my mask and selectively hit the least busy time I have observed and was in the store at slightly after 6am. To my joy the racks have ample bikes!
