This one’s a little bit different from some of my other stuff and it’s based a true story when I bottled it at an interview a while ago.Hopefully it gives an insight into overthinking and what it can do to you in everyday situations, im sure we are all guilty of that sometimes.It’s inspired by listening to @RenMakesMusic quite a lot over the last few months you’ll probably be able to tell, but it’s important for people to be aware of things like anxiety, and even just overthinking and nerves in general as they can get the better of you like they did with me.I tried to achieve a loose ‘The Streets’ style sound here, but had some people mention people like Madness and Blur’s Parklife. It was so fun to record though, never done that style of vocal before, actually made it easier to write, as the lyrics were just how I’d speak day to day.Anyway, I hope you like it as much as I do. A year flies by so quick ThomasJMusic 2023-05-26 | A year ago today I found out my mum had passed away.I was in London for work and was heading to the train station to come home when my phone kept ringing, but if you know the tube in London, you know the signal is awful so whenever I answered I couldn’t hear anyone. The next thing I knew a text message came through in Swedish (mums husband is Swedish) and I instantly recognised the words ‘mor’ and ‘död’. The 2 hour train journey home was the longest I’ve ever been on.I’d only just seen mum 2 nights before in hospital and the doctors told her she was going home soon. The doctor told me when she started her shift the next day and found out a patient had passed away overnight, she didn’t expect it to be my mum.Some will know I had a fraught relationship with my mum, but I don’t feel much of that bad feeling anymore. I never thought I’d say but I miss her.
