Chiang Mai arrival on Day 1 - Got the rental bicycle and here is what happened! Mike Matsuno 2024-11-12 | Mike had just arrived in Chiang Mai. After checking in, he headed to NK Bike Rentals to pick up his rental bicycle. As he began exploring the city, he quickly realized he was lost and noticed that the traffic flow and driving style were vastly different from those in Japan or the US. The roads were filled with Tuk-Tuks, motorscooters, motorcycles, and cars, but almost no bicycles. Mike Matsuno 2024-11-01 | For the last 20 years, every time I depart through KIX, Kansai International Airport in Osaka before 11:00 am, I eat the McDonald's breakfast sandwich set menu. Their breakfast sandwiches are the best - fresh, hot, and usually very quick. And before this year, the set menus were very cheap! For me, eating the McDonald's breakfast sandwich set is the "rite of passage" to leave KIX! Try it the next time you leave through KIX, if you are there before 11:00 am.

Summer is the harvest season, with Yubari City being the most renowned location for melons. The Yubari melon, often called the "Yubari King," is a true delicacy. While I don’t often get to enjoy Yubari melons in Kansai, a colleague from Hokkaido kindly shared half of one he received from his wife, and it was pure bliss! Every October, Yosakoi dance teams converge in Ikebukuro, Tokyo for the competition. Every dance is powerful and unique, demonstrating the power of the young people. This video features the opening night which is different from the typical yosakoi dance style. This video features the "Yassa" dance style which is more like an Obon Dance style. The best thing is it is free and they are dancing throughout the main streets all around the JR Ikebukuro Station, most streets are shut down for the festivities. Seniors, families, and young people can all Cycle the Shimanami Kaido! #seniortravellers Mike Matsuno 2024-06-24 | If you can ride a bicycle, have good balance, and are in reasonable shape, you can cycle the Shimanami Kaido which is the most beautiful coastline scenery in Japan. In this video you will hear directly from Joe who is 82 years old, Ginny who is 77 years old, and Peter who is 70 years old about their cycling trip last April 2023. That was supposed to be their "last hurrah" but after cycling part of the Shimanami Kaido and the Yumeshima Kaido, they are coming back for more this September 2024. Are you ready to cycle parts of the Shimanami? You don't have to do the entire route which is 75 kilometers one way. You can use the ferry system so it won't be too difficult, get an E-bike so you can ride up those steep bridge slopes to get across.
