#netherlands #cycling #bikeThe Best Sides of Cycling | DocumentaryBest Side Cycling2024-06-09 | DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT: Hanoch is the “Ted Lasso of Seattle Cycling”. That’s the takeaway I got after spending 9 months making this documentary.
After getting to know Hanoch I realized there’s more to him than what’s on his Youtube channel. He’s a person of tremendous grit, heart, and determination. Through this film I hope to show this authentic side of him.
In terms of style, I wanted this film to feel as authentic as possible and not overly-produced. My expertise is in verite filmmaking so I went with handheld camerawork, natural lighting, and being as observational as possible.
The most challenging part of making the film was editing the Best Side Summits ride. The steepness of a hill doesn’t translate accurately on camera so I had to convey the steepness of the hill through editing. The pacing of the scene, music, and bringing out the struggle endured by each rider with their heavy breathing, expressions, or disbelief that they’re climbing a 21% grade.
Thank you for taking the time to watch my film and I hope it inspires you to go for a bike ride.
I make short documentaries and I’m looking to tell more stories about real people. If you have any ideas feel free to contact me via my website: www.findfoxy.com
SYNOPSIS: The Best Sides of Cycling is a documentary about Hanoch Yeung of Best Side Cycling. What began as a humble cycling YouTube channel becomes a journey that transcends the sport. This is a true story about how human connection and dedication can inspire a community to summit even the steepest of hills.

Seattle’s first protected intersection will prioritize people walking, biking, and rolling in this busy area. It includes traffic signals for people crossing Dexter Ave N. It also adds permanent concrete barriers to help safely separate people driving from people walking, biking, and rolling.
See Seattle by bike from a state highway! We're taking over southbound SR-99 and the West Seattle Bridge for an early morning spin around Alki and a jaunt south to Fauntleroy. This 20-mile ride offers a car-free experience for the first three and a half miles and takes you past some of the best lookout points and views of the Seattle skyline and Puget Sound's islands.

Our quest continues to find Seattle's Steepest Street on my Brompton. Today we're at the very notable E Roy Street to see how we fair plus some bonus riding.
Join us for an inspiring, community-focused evening at SIFF Cinema Uptown where we will be premiering The Best Sides of Cycling, a short documentary by Seattle filmmaker Philip Thangsombat.
Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with Philip Thangsombat and Hanoch Yeung of Best Side Cycling. We'll end the night with a raffle for Best Side Cycling apparel!
