This quick and dirty video shows the game running on my 175MHz R10000-based SGI O2 workstation. Filmed with an iPhone 7 Plus. The display is an SGI 1600SW, a widescreen panel for a simulation that was obviously meant for a 4:3 display. This left room for CPU and GPU monitors, though.

The gaming PC I initially assembled in 2016 to play No Man's Sky beyond the abilities of the PS4 consisted of (after a few upgrades along the way) a Core i7 6700K (4 core, 8 thread) CPU @ 4GHz (4.4GHz boost), 32GB DDR4 DRAM, and the same EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 (which offers approximately the same performance as an RTX 3060 in No Man's Sky).
As No Man's Sky increased in visual complexity across the 34 major updates (at the time of this video) since launch, the system became CPU limited, with the CPU unable to keep the GPU fed. This test shows the performance of the hardware after a recent motherboard / CPU / RAM upgrade to the specs above.
The game is being played at 2560x1440 resolution with all settings to Ultra (using TAA anti-aliasing), achieving a range of 70-90fps typical, with a jump to the the display's max of 144fps when in space.
