ScarboSheepThere were a few of these arrangements online for FamiTracker, but none of them ever included the entire composition--both the full canon and the gigue! I had fun with pattern optimization on this one; although there are 37 frames, it never goes beyond needing pattern 0E in any instrument.
Pachelbels Canon and Gigue in D major, P. 37 [8-bit, VRC6, FamiTracker]ScarboSheep2018-06-30 | There were a few of these arrangements online for FamiTracker, but none of them ever included the entire composition--both the full canon and the gigue! I had fun with pattern optimization on this one; although there are 37 frames, it never goes beyond needing pattern 0E in any instrument.FamiTrackers Pitchbend Isnt Uniform!ScarboSheep2023-08-19 | The higher your starting note is, the more extreme the pitchbend upwards! I found this rather disappointing thing when I was hoping to do 19-TET stuff on FamiTracker (which would already be a pain).March of the Derpy Sergals (19-TET) [Finale, Garritan]ScarboSheep2023-07-27 | A piece of music inspired by furries in 19-tone equal temperament. The accented notes are supposed to represent merps or collective merps.
Art by me.Light in a Chromatic Wilderness (19-TET) [String Ensemble, Finale, Garritan]ScarboSheep2023-07-07 | An original composition I made this week (7/3/2023 to 7/6/2023) trying my hand at an original 19-tone equal temperament piece. Realized with Garritan instruments in Finale.
Inspired by a comment by Temiree on his own Patreon, worrying if a picture he drew was too simple for his galleries. I wanted to make something simple in response (or at least, that was my initial intention to make its simple), but to take the unusual perspective of 19TET. Why not? Simple but clever can be really effective, right?
19TET is a different way of writing music. All the enharmonic equivalents are different; for example, C# is Dbb, and E# is Fb. In some ways, it also honors dissonances as dissonances better out of context.
The picture is from publicdomainpictures.net, and it was released into the public domain by the author, Andrea Stöckel.
EDIT: Originally called Astral Oasis, thought it better to choose a more unique name. So now it's Light in a Chromatic Wilderness.Haunted Chorus of NEKKID GRAMMAW (Family Feud Meme) Sonic PiScarboSheep2023-06-28 | I was on Twitch yesterday having fun with making cursed music out of memes. This is a clip from that stream.Spear of Justice FugueScarboSheep2023-06-21 | A fugue I wrote in 2022 that I finished today, based on Toby Fox's "Spear of Justice," from Undertale. Realized by Finale's Garritan instruments.Fur Elise, but its CURSED [19-TET]ScarboSheep2023-06-20 | My first main 19-TET arrangement of classical music! I like how it sounds a bit cursed because of the odd tuning and my intentional chromatic differences. In 19-tone equal temperament (19-TET), all the enharmonic equivalents are different. The whole step is divided into third steps instead. C## = Db, Gbb = F#, E# = Fb, B# = Cb, and such.
Realized by Garritan instruments on Finale using the 19TET features in Finale!AWU 2022 Anubis Has Judged YouScarboSheep2023-06-15 | An original composition of mine. The theme for Anthro Weekend Utah 2022 was The Curse of AWUbis, so why not make something in the double harmonic scale? Performed at AWU 2022 in Layton, UT.AWU 2022 Lightning Round, from Bejeweled 3ScarboSheep2023-06-14 | This speeds up faster than a real Lightning Round, of course! Composed by Peter Hajba (skaven252.bandcamp.com/album/bejeweled-3). Performed at Anthro Weekend Utah 2022 in Layton, UT.AWU 2022 - Sonic 2 Medley (Sky Chase, Wing Fortress, Title Screen)ScarboSheep2023-06-13 | Why not some good old Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for Genesis! Masato Nakamura certainly created a few bangers in the Sonic world. Here they are in my piano arrangement that I played at Anthro Weekend Utah 2022 in Layton, UT.AWU 2022 Medivo from Jazz JackrabbitScarboSheep2023-06-13 | This uses the actual percussion ostinato from the original! A piece meant to be in two lines with parallel fifths above each.Cliff Hangers FugueScarboSheep2023-03-12 | A fugue I wrote back in 2011, still with the voice leading errors intact. Thought this might be fun to share.
Cliff Hangers is from The Price Is Right, and the jingle comes from that game, which is one of many on the show.James Bond but its Ottermelon [FamiTracker, 2A03]ScarboSheep2023-01-20 | Just a silly little idea I had, and I decided to upload it today. Gift art for Temiree and Foxfall.Money Grabbing Machine (Max 8 Patch)ScarboSheep2022-10-08 | I was inspired a bit by the idea of the money-grabbing machine, and the realization that I could just automate the random positioning of toggles in presentation mode. Makes for a fun toy for a little bit.I Try Some Soy Sauce Milk (Note: I Dont Recommend This Much Soy Sauce)ScarboSheep2022-09-03 | Inspired by deviantart.com/temiree/art/Milk-Opinions-Comic-918092434. I don't use nearly as much soy sauce as Ryan would, but in retrospect, I wouldn't currently recommend this much. I think next time, I should use a smaller glass of milk. That way I can concentrate it even more but with less soy sauce overall.
Update: Yeah, because the actual amount of soy sauce was too high, I felt mildly nauseous afterwards. The first time I tried this, I didn't feel this way. So I think next time, I will use a lot less milk. These cups are PRETTY big.A Musical Ottering 4c. OttertaleScarboSheep2022-08-23 | Undertale, from Undertale, but it's Ottermelon, too. I'm pretty pleased with how this one came out. This is the last movement in A Musical Ottering. All the Undertale music is written by Toby Fox and copyrighted by Materia Collective. Ottermelon theme is copyright Foxfall. Gift art for Temiree and Foxfall.A Musical Ottering 4b. The Ott and the RestlessScarboSheep2022-08-23 | Is Markus up to dastardly deeds? Has another rift gotten between Big Bro and Little Bro? Why are those two universes crossed with each other? This is another parody mashup, this time of Nadia's Theme from The Young and the Restless, and Ottermelon.
Why even Nadia's Theme? Well, if you watched The Price Is Right regularly, like me, and you didn't change the channel, you'd hear that piece. Nadia's Theme I think is copyrighted by A&M Records. Ottermelon theme copyright Foxfall. Gift art for Temiree and Foxfall.A Musical Ottering 4a. Ottly TimeScarboSheep2022-08-22 | A mashup parody of Only Time by Enya, with the Ottermelon theme injected into the tenor voice in the verse, and then the soprano voice in the chorus. Puzzle Canon in 4 Voices Short SolutionScarboSheep2022-08-20 | This is, unsurprisingly, the original solution I was more intentionally shooting for. The long solution is something I realized would work as well. Original Ottermelon theme copyright Foxfall. Gift art for Temiree and Foxfall.A Musical Ottering 3b. Puzzle Canon in 4 Voices Long SolutionScarboSheep2022-08-20 | There are two solutions to this puzzle canon! The first one I'm uploading is the long solution: a 12-measure delay for each entry. Original Ottermelon theme copyright Foxfall. Gift art for Foxfall and Temiree.A Musical Ottering 3a. Puzzle Canon in 2 VoicesScarboSheep2022-08-19 | A puzzle canon for oboe and violin of the Ottermelon theme. I think there might be more than one way to do this! A bit different from the other Crab Canon on Ottermelon that I made. Original theme copyright Foxfall. Gift art for Temiree and Foxfall.A Musical Ottering 2e. Sloth CanonScarboSheep2022-08-15 | A sloth canon is usually called a canon in augmentation. Considering there's no delay, this also counts as a de facto prolation canon at the octave. Original Ottermelon theme copyright Foxfall.
Gift art for Temiree and Foxfall.A Musical Ottering 2d. Mirror CanonScarboSheep2022-08-13 | A canon in inversion, with the Ottermelon theme as a bass cantus firmus. Gift art for Temiree and Foxfall. Original Ottermelon theme copyright Foxfall.A Musical Ottering 2c. Descending CanonScarboSheep2022-08-13 | Ever seen any of those canons that change keys over and over again on every repeat? This is one of those canons, this time on the Ottermelon Theme. You could go as far as you wanted, until of course, it started sounding muddy or went below the human range of hearing.
Gift art for Temiree and Foxfall.
Also, forgot to put this in the sheet music--the original Ottermelon theme is copyright by Foxfall.A Musical Ottering 2b. Echo CanonScarboSheep2022-08-12 | In J.S. Bach's 14 Canons, he referred to a canon that enters at the sixteenth note as a canon post semifusam. I decided to make it T H I C C and got away with it by mostly just arpeggiating things. But I did also use that same canon's running 32nds trick. Here is the Ottermelon theme with a 4-part canon underneath. Gift art for Temiree and Foxfall.A Musical Ottering 2a. Perpetual Canon at the OctaveScarboSheep2022-08-11 | A perpetual canon at the octave of an embellished version of the Ottermelon motif, written by Foxfall. This I think is the most authentically Baroque-sounding entry in the suite. Gift art for Temiree and Foxfall.A Musical Ottering 1. Double Fugue on Ottermelon and FerrisScarboSheep2022-08-10 | A double fugue on themes by Foxfall Music, gift art for Temiree and Foxfall. The language used is decidedly more modern than your average fugue. The Great Gate of Kyiv from Pictures at an Exhibition AWU 2022 PerformanceScarboSheep2022-07-21 | This is the second performance I've done of this piece at Anthro Weekend Utah. I figured it would be good to bring it back because of recent events in Ukraine. This I thought would be a good way to honor Ukraine. Performed July 15, 2022 at the Davis Conference Center in Layton, UT.Megalovania AWU 2022ScarboSheep2022-07-20 | My performance of Megalovania, from Undertale at my panel Piano Ram at Anthro Weekend Utah 2022.Soundtrack to Ferris, AWU 2022ScarboSheep2022-07-16 | This is my piano arrangement of Foxfall's soundtrack to Ferris, an animatic by Canadian furry artist Temiree. I thought, what would it be like if we took Jigglypuff's theme and made it super scary?Crab Canon on a theme from OttermelonScarboSheep2022-06-17 | This is a crab canon, meaning the left hand is playing the exact same thing as the right hand, just in reverse order! In this case the left hand was transposed an octave down from the right hand, which is why this is a crab canon at the octave.
This was inspired by J.S. Bach's famous Crab Canon from his landmark contrapuntal collection, The Musical Offering.
Some gift art for Temiree, the creator of the animatic.
Enjoy.Waldstein Sonata Opening, but its The Rite of SpringScarboSheep2022-03-17 | Inspired by a comment during my orchestration class.I Harmonized Myself Reading Part of the Sonic 3 ManualScarboSheep2021-10-12 | I decided to harmonize the details of the Sonic 3 Bonus Stage's power ups, straight from the Sonic 3 instruction manual. The Price Is Right losing horn but each note is the losing hornScarboSheep2021-08-10 | Suggested in a game show chat. This uses samples I created using Sonic Pi and Finale, as well as some viola samples created by my teachers Christian Asplund and Steve Ricks. This was the 8th movement of my master's composition recital.OwO Whats This for 16 Part Choir (Finale playback)ScarboSheep2021-04-19 | I thought this would be funny to take the quintessential "trash" phrase of the furry fandom and make it into a big choir piece. I wrote this in 2018, then I made some final finishing touches on January 30, 2019.
I strongly prefer a more innocent usage of this phrase, hence why it's "notices your choir" instead.Basic Granulator Max 8 PatcherScarboSheep2020-07-05 | Many granular synths have been made in MaxMSP for years. This is done entirely from the Bash Terminal on either Mac OS X or Linux. This piece explores musical representation of heap sort, cocktail shaker sort, insertion sort, and Conway's Game of Life. Almost every note in this piece was chosen algorithmically. Algorithms determined pitches and sometimes which instruments played them.Corrosion [Reed Quintet, Live Performance, BYU student quintet]ScarboSheep2019-03-01 | This is a piece I wrote in February 2019 and August 2018.
