Easily works across chunk borders and the entire ticking area.. may or may not break other redstone machines.*Found that the dust on the ground helps to prevent it from becoming a never-ending burnout.**Found that when relogging the game, it does break and goes back to being a never-ending burnout. It's possible that a setup can be made with a sticky piston on one of the top blocks to remove it for a few ticks then place it back.. possibly with an observer and time delay that only activates when logging in.

Should reduce lag from other designs because hoppers stay locked unless needed to pass items- no clocks to lock and unlock 40 hoppers every other second. Torch it up to prevent light update lag. Likewise, barring lag, item sorter is as fast as possible, and items should never get stuck in the droppers and cannot get stuck in the sorter.Good luck, and let me know if you need any help.
