I never had any issues working remotely from here, in any case, and WiFi was fast and reliable!3️⃣ TurkeyTurkey is a country that has such rich history and culture. It's also very affordable, especially if you're earning USD, Euros, or another strong currency. Istanbul is an amazing city to live in. You can also check out areas like Bodrum, Izmir, and tons of other beautiful parts of the country.4️⃣ ColombiaI've spent many months as a digital nomad in Colombia. It's quite affordable, especially if you get off of Airbnb and find local listings or people to rent from. Medellin is a digital nomad hub, and the city has amazing climate, food, and nightlife. You can also check out Bogota or areas like Cartagena or Barranquilla, and the nature and wildlife in Colombia is superb. I haven't had issues with safety in Colombia personally, and some common sense goes a long way here, especially if you plan on partying.5️⃣ ThailandThailand is a classic cheap digital nomad destination with so much to offer. There's amazing food, beaches, and a booming nomad community. Rentals and transportation are very affordable, and you can definitely live on a budget here. I really enjoyed my time living in Phuket. Other popular areas include Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, Pattaya, and Krabi.6️⃣ IndonesiaLike Thailand, Indonesia has other affordable digital nomad destinations that are also very popular. I spent some time in Bali and enjoyed it, although I personally prefer Thailand to Indonesia. You can also consider nearby countries like Bulgaria, Albania, Serbia, and others for affordable places to live.2️⃣ ColombiaI've spent a lot of time in Colombia, and it's another excellent place to live on $1K a month if you're a bit savvy. Local rent prices in cities and towns can be affordable. Plus, in cities like Medellin, you can find tons of shared housing or hostels that are very affordable. Food is also quite inexpensive, as are cell phone plans. Colombia is also a growing destination for digital nomads, which is one reason I've visited 3 times.3️⃣ MontenegroI've spent a summer in Montenegro, visiting towns like Tivat and Kotor. And while Airbnb prices can be high here, local rent prices can be more affordable. Montenegro also has beautiful nature, kind people, and a nice mix of food and local dishes for you to explore. In my experience, it felt like visiting Croatian coastal towns, just way less crowded and cheaper.4️⃣ ThailandThailand is one of the cheapest countries to live in and is also a cheap retirement destination. Plus, cities like Chiang Mai and Phuket are very popular for nomads, as is Bangkok for business. With Thailand, you can find incredibly cheap rentals. Food is also highly inexpensive, and there are tons of markets and fun street food vendors to try. Internet is cheap too, and many people save on transportation with cheap scooter rentals. I spent a few months in Thailand and certainly plan on returning!5️⃣ EcuadorEcuador is another cheap country to live in that's not on everyone's radar quite yet. I haven't been to Ecuador yet, but many of my friends have. The rent is cheap, food is affordable, and people are very friendly. You can also access some excellent hiking, or surfing and beaches if that's more of your vibe. Just note English isn't commonly spoken, so learn some Spanish!6️⃣ VietnamIt's impossible to make a video on places to live on $1,000 a month without mentioning Vietnam. Affordable rent/hostels, cheap food, and visitors from all over the world are some of the selling points for Vietnam.7️⃣ GeorgiaGeorgia has become a popular destination in recent years ever since it launched its Digital Nomad Visa. Argentina lost its title of being among the wealthiest countries in the world decades ago, and in recent years it has also lost the title of being a relatively economically stable country to find itself among the most chaotic countries when we talk about economy. Names like Turkey, Venezuela or Iran are often mentioned together with Argentina when we talk about economic disasters in the current century.The current situation in ArgentinaLet’s understand a little bit on why Argentina got to this, and what is the current situation in the country.Despite the fact the inflation rate in Argentina is currently hovering around 190% per year, according to most sources, that still doesn’t characterize a situation of hyperinflation. The concept is arbitrary, but usually a hyperinflation is the one going above 50% per month. In other words, way more than what is felt in Argentina at the moment.There are several reasons that brought Argentina’s economy to its knees. In order not to get too complex on this matter, I will just mention the key reasons.Excessive public spending is one of the main reasons behind Argentina’s inflation. Coupled with extreme incompetence from most of the previous governments in the country, Argentina opted for the dangerous path of quantitative easing, which in simple English can be translated as printing money as if there is no tomorrow. So, what will happen next in Argentina?A new president has been elected in Argentina. His name is Javier Milei, and he has very ambitious ideas to change the course of the country’s erratic economy.Among his plans, the privatization of many of Argentina’s huge public companies such as Aerolineas Argentinas, the national flag carrier airline. Apart from that, he also wants to reform the pension system and cut benefits.One of his main ideas though, is to change the national currency to the US dollar. An idea that has already worked well in South America. Ecuador for example dropped its currency in the year 2000, adopting the US dollar as a legal tender. Some banks in Georgia will grant mortgages to non-residents, which is an advantage of very few countries in Europe as you will probably find out if you research more on this matters. Some property developers will also offer deals in Georgia, allowing you to buy a property in the country off-plan. TurkeyTurkey or Turkiye (the new official country name) is another country that is extremely open for foreign investment, and that also applies to individuals who want to buy property in the country. Turkey really has a great package of advantages when it comes to buying real estate in the country. From property prices to financing, and from getting a residence permit to even Turkish citizenship, all options are on the table if you want to invest in Turkey.Property prices in Turkey are more affordable than most other countries in Europe. However, properties in Turkey are not necessarily inferior than in countries with higher price tags. Turkey has some of the most scenic landscapes in Europe and Asia, and although building quality varies, it can also be very good in some areas or projects.Another advantage is that non-resident foreigners might be able to get a mortgage from some Turkish banks, making the process of acquiring property in the country easier than in countries where this option is not available. Greece I personally consider Greece an underrated country, especially among real estate investors looking to get a golden visa in Europe. Let me tell you why. Greece is a good contenter to let’s say Portugal: it has amazing beaches, great cuisine, people are friendly, and the weather is good during most part of the year. Just like Portugal, Greece is a full European Union member, part of the Schengen area and uses the euro as its currency. Somehow, people are not that interested in Greece. Maybe the taxes play a role here, but, this will only affect you depending on your type of income.But the truth is, real estate in Greece is cheaper than Portugal. If you compare Athens and Lisbon, Athens is way cheaper. Do you want to compare smaller cities in both countries, they will also be cheaper in Greece. Rural properties? Probably cheaper in Greece.
