Is it possible to memorize a language? Yes and no but mainly no!
You should not try to memorize a language instead the best way to learn a language is by immersion, listening to it on the radio or tv or talking to people in that lanaguage.
Children are not memorizing a language they are learning the language and this is a big deal to notice.
If you want to learn a language faster maybe you could memorize a list of 500 common words in that language as a base or foundation but not as an overall strategy to learn the language.
How many books should you read in a year?
Why does it seem so important the number of books that you read in a year?
Why not pick 3-5 books that you want to read 5 times each?
Take notes on the books.
Discuss the book with friends.
go for walks and think about what you learned.
Journal what you learned.
This is the way you should read a book in my opinion. It's not about the amount of books you read but what you learn!

Parkinson's law states that work expands to fill the time allotted for its completion. The term was first coined by Cyril Northcote Parkinson in a humorous essay he wrote for “The Economist” in 1955.

Everyone has heard of flashcards but you can't use flashcards when you go for a walk or are driving. I like to study when I go for walks. That is actually my favorite way to learn. I call them walk and talks where I take the information I want to learn printed out and I go for a walk and talk about it to myself!
Then I have the notes for reference. It works for me.
Also, what I refer to as audio flashcards also work for me when learning. In this video I talk about how to create audio flashcards as a study tip or study guide. This not only works for learning while walking but driving, on a plane or in your car.
It's a great learning hack for me and hope you enjoy.

When you are studying for a big exam or trying to learn a lot of information it can be discouraging.
The key for me to stay motivated and keep going is to break everything down in to easy and manageable study goals.
If I am trying to memorize and study a 300 page book I will try to memorize or learn the first 30 pages. I focus on that and that's it. Then when I get there I tell myself that I have memorized 10% of the book.
Breaking the task down in to 10% steps it keeps me motivated and keeps me going. When you are studying for a big exam or test and can't stay focused or motivated it's often because you are getting overwhelmed by how much you have to learn. However, when you break it down in to 10% steps you can see your progress and this keeps you motivated.
When you are trying to study or learn something for a test and there is a lot of information remind yourself of how important it is stop se the project in 10 chunks. Just focus on the next chunk.

Here is my Bible Memory course
bible.brainathlete.com/enroll40495219
The Black Belt Memory course is my FULL memory course that includes names, numbers, languages, speeches, books, etc.
The bible memory course is specific to bible memory. The Black Belt Memory course teaches the concepts learned in the bible memory course, however, since the Black Belt Memory course is for the general public it doesn't include bible memory specifically.
How long would it take to memorize the entire bible? My answer was about 50-60 years.
I gave my answer based on how long it took me to memorize the United States Constitution. Then I extrapolated out from there that it would take me about 6-10 years to memorize the New Testament. I late found out that this was a very good time prediction because students memorizing the Quoran will go to schools to do this and it is half the length of the New Testament and the schools are 3-5 years. So I feel my prediction is very accurate.
There are a lot of factors involved and you can't just say it will take you 6-10 years. There are questions like, "Will this be your only job?", "How much time can you invest in memorizing?".
Taking all these things in to account it will change the result for everyone.
The Old Testament is 4 times as long as the New Testament and so it's safe to say it would take 24-40 years to memorize the Old Testament. Putting these two numbers together I believe it is safe to say that 30-50 years to memorizing the entire bible would be realistic and maybe you might need longer.
Memorizing the entire bible is a lifetime memory project!

Actors have used a trick to memorize their lines quicker. It involves using the first letter of each word and looking at these letters to memorize the entire line.
I do think there is some value in this although I will admit it is not a technique that I use a lot. I tend to use the mind palace for my bible memory and for all scripture memory for the post part. With that said, the brain can recognize patterns and I know of a specific bible memory student who memorized the first 16 chapters of Genesis using this method of the first letter of each word.
This memory technique used by actors is just reading the first letter of each word. Then this will help you memorize the entire line. It is somewhat of a new memory technique to me. I do use acronyms but I think that is a little different of a memory strategy because the acronyms are often creating new words.

In this video I talk about how to handle a panic attack. Panic attacks and anxiety are real things that happen in your brain but when you learn the right way and the wrong way to handle a panic attack you are miles ahead of the destructive pattern where you could be.
CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy is a great way to calm down during a panic attack as well is breathing exercise. Take away negative options from you life like alcohol or other items.
Studying for tests can cause a lot of test taking anxiety. It doesn't have to be a full blown panic attack for these steps to anxiety to help.

I thought of this idea to memorize a list using your family tree. I will admit a variation on this has been done most likely. But the idea was new idea to me as I am always thinking of new ways to memorize.
When a student wants to memorize school work, notes or anyone wants to memorize fast and easily I think this memory improvement trick of using your family tree as a memory system is a really great idea.
It is closer to what is called a peg list than the memory palace although it is similar to the memory palace you are just using your family as the memory palace or mind palace.
A peg list is where you think of an object such as a pencil to represent the number one, a duck to represent two, etc. Instead you are thinking of your family tree to hold the spots of 1,2,3,4,5,etc.
It's a fun and creative idea I think. This does not mean I will ever stop using the mind palace. Not at all!! The mind palace is my favorite memory technique but it's always fun and mind stretching to think of new applications for memorizing.

Are you having trouble remembering what you study?
Do you wish you could remember what you read?
There are reasons that you can't remember what you study. One of the biggest reasons that you can't remember what you study is because you are stressed. When your brain is stressed your body produces something called cortisol and this is going to make it more difficult to remember anything.
But being stressed isn't the only reason that you can't remember what you study another reason is that you are not focused. Try doing 3 things at once and no matter how much you think you can multi-task the reality is that it is going to be more difficult than you think.
So you really need to pay attention and stop multitasking. These are just a few of the reasons that you can not remember what you study. If you want to get better at memorizing your school work then watch the entire video for my 5 reasons why you can't remember what you study.

In order to remember names you need to look on the face and find a unique feature and then turn the name in to an image and visualize it on the unique feature.
If you watch this video you will learn ow to remember names and faces.
The key to remembering names is to see the name as a picture. For example:
Steve = stove
Lisa = Mona Lisa
Brian = brain
Karen = carrot
Wendy - wind
Frank = frankfurter
Wayne = rain
The more action and emotion you can use to visualize the name the better chance that you will remember it.
In order to be able to remember the name of the person the next time you see them you must review. Review is the key to long term memory.

0:00 Memorize Multiplication
1:03 The 1's
1:22 The 2's
2:38 The 3's
3:53 The 4's
4:49 The 5's
6:07 The 9's
When teaching a student to memorize the multiplication tables it is not as big of a challenge as it seems on the surface. The first reason is that the 1's and 10's are super easy. Any number multiplied by 1 is the number and any number multiplied by 10 you just add a zero to the number.
That is 20% of the table!
The 2's, 3's and 5's can be solved by teaching the student to learn to count by 2's, 3's and 5's. Also using the PLUS 4 and PLUS 4 strategy for learning the multiplication of 3's and 4's is helpful.
When memorizing the multiplication table you will also find some tricks like understanding that when a number is multiplied by 9 the answer adds up to 9. So 4 X 9 = 36 and 3+6 = 9.
The main thing when memorizing the multiplication tables really isn't to memorize them it is to learn the multiplication tables or to understanding the multiplication tables.

The poem that we memorized is here:
Invictus
William Ernest Henley - 1849-1903
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Why can't I remember anything? That is a question a lot of people ask themselves. We begin to wonder if something is wrong with us or what is the reason that we can't remember anything.
So here is why you can't remember anything. First of all, you may need to realize that your memory is actually much better than you think it is. You can probably remember a car accident from 20 years ago because your memory is actually pretty good.
Your brain will remember action and emotion and this is why you remember things long term. In other words there was a lot of action or emotion plus you also remember what you review.
Your expectations must be realistic in regards to your memory.
Paying attention is the first key to your memory. Sleep, good nutrition and exercise all improve your memory. Do your best to get 8 hours of sleep every night.
When you get plenty of sleep your brain will replay what you learned during the day.

How long does it take to memorize something?
Well, I hate to break the news to you but it depends and it depends on 2 things.
First, your base knowledge of the material and next it depends on if you have a system. A person who has predetermined images for numbers, names or playing cards could memorize these things faster because they have a system for this.
Systems play a big role in how fast you can memorize as does having a base knowledge of the subject matter in advance.
So the answer to, 'How long it takes to memorize something?' is in this video.

This video will not teach you how to memorize a book word for word.
However, what it will do is give you the strategy you will need to memorize the key points of any book. You could do this with the table of content, chapters or just the main ideas that you get from the book.
In memory training one of the things that you need to do is learn to remember something by attaching it to something else. Here are my images or hooks for numbers 1-7:
1. Pencil
2. Duck
3. Pyramid
4. Box
5. Star
6. Elephant
7. Dice
In this video we memorized the 7 points from Stephen Covey's book the 7 Habits of Highly Effective people and took the 7 habits and memorized them by attaching them to the hooks.
Habit 1: Be Proactive
Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind
Habit 3: Put first things first
Habit 4: Think win/win
Habit 5: Seek first to understand

Why should you memorize scripture?
Memorizing bible verses or scripture can have some really good benefits and these benefits apply to many things other than scripture. Memorizing Philosophy or quotes that inspire you or motivate you have many benefits.
One of the reasons that you should memorize scripture is that it is wisdom that has stood the test of time. Think about that. Many scriptures were written thousands of years ago and yet still apply today.
Another benefit memorizing scripture is that it helps give you a moral compass. You may be tempted in life to take the easy way out or do something less than honest but having a moral compass of scripture, quotes or verses written on the tablet of your mind it helps to guide you in decisions.
Equally, many times your friends will be going through a difficult time and having these memorized you will be in a better position to help them.
There are many benefits or reasons that you should memorize scripture but you also need to know how to memorize scripture. I have some videos on this here
