Basically the mini backstory behind all this is that there are two of my characters, Raphael and Temptations, both of which were featured in the Lovekiller Moving PMV. Anywho, this took place before Temptations and Raphael started dating, she recently went through a nasty breakup, and Raphael found her crying in the rain. He normally is a bit rigid and cold, but he pitied her, and flew over to comfort her. Eventually they became good friends and then a while later started dating. c:

I added a greenscreened rain gif that I found on youtube because I thought it would add to the part. I think it does a little, but I'm sorry if that was pushing the color palette rules a little. I think it still seems to blend in pretty well though.

I had to redo the lipsync twice. ono At first I was going hardcore making a ton of frames for it, but that ended up backfiring and it just wouldn't time right. I used less frames, but at least it still looks smooth. It still took forever. XD

I do like the overall result though. I hope you like it as well. C3

Basic synopsis: Torrux is a ruthless, coldhearted bounty hunter who always kills the criminals he catches, regardless of whether they're wanted dead or alive. He tracks down one such criminal, a shadow dragon who only committed his felonies because his older brother manipulated him (Torrux doesn't know this, but he also doesn't seem to care). Torrux tracks him down, snaps his neck, and decapitates him, taking the shadow dragon's head back to the prison he's worked for in order to get his reward.

Angst is fun to animate tbh. I know it's gonna be a somewhat gory part but if it makes it any better, shadow dragons have purple blood so the gore may not be quite as triggering? as I guess it could be.

In case you were wondering, this snippet is from a story of mine centering around Torrux, a bounty hunter with a prosthetic back leg. Reluctantly, he takes in an orphaned dragonet named Aeona until he can find her father, but little does she know that his past and his destiny is far darker and more intertwined with hers than she may have previously thought.

Secret: Mini Halloween OC MAP (Waiting on Parts: 3/4 Complete)

Scarlet Shadowhawk 2016-08-27 | Yeeee my first MAP, here goes! Made it especially short so that it could get completed, specifically for halloween and stuffs ('cause heck, dark MAPs are fun sometimes c; )

Rules

1. This is my first MAP, so I won't be all that picky, don't you worry! However, it isn't first come, first serve either. I will wait 2 days before picking parts so anyone that wants one has the opportunity to ask. ^u^

2. This'll be one part per person. Feel free to ask for a backup as well in case there's not enough parts available for ya.

3. With that being said, I would like at least a couple of animation examples on your channel if you ask for a part. I will look. ^-^

4. Afterwards, if I give you a part, I'll give you 7 weeks to do said part (yes, that rule does include mine XD). I'll only give you an extension if you show me you've finished at least a decent chunk of it. If you need to drop out feel free to tell me and I'll call up any backup if they're available.

5. This is a Halloween OC MAP, so feel free to make it as creepy as you'd like (obviously don't go into the NSFW range, but hey, gore and death is totally fine!) Use your original characters.

6. Keep the theme dark and eerie. This is a MAP (multi-animators-project), so keep in mind that I do expect you to animate your part in some way.

7. If you read these rules, state what your favorite halloween-ish themed creature or monster is! This could be werewolves, vampires, bats, zombies, etc.

8. I'd really appreciate if your part is fullscreen! I am capable of sizing it, but it'll cutoff some of it depending on the original format.

Heart Afire MAP Part 10

Welp, after much blood, sweat and (mostly tears) I finally finished this! I really wanted to get this done before the 20th, because I have summer AP biology homework that is due on the 26th, soooo I wanted to get this done first because screw school apparently. XD

This is the very last part of the Heart Afire MAP hosted by Thunderkathryn, so after this she'll probably get everything all set and edit it and stuff! I'm so excited! C3

I really wanted to do a high frame rate, super fast and slightly abstract-y part, so this was the result? There were a lot of new things I tried when doing this part, and while there are one or two things I don't like about it overall I'm happy with the result!

The first two shots with the water droplet I animated pretty fast because the shape was simple and quick to color...then the dragon showed up. Making cuts in the silhouette to better use negative space and make him more defined made it take even more time. I actually drew an entire dragon for each frame, even when in the finished product the camera is zoomed in on its face. This was because I drew all of these frames with it rearing up and breathing fire fully, then rendered them and then edited the camera movement on top of that in order to get the desired result. It was a lot of work...but at least it looks cool!

Also my older sister (same one that did the pokedraw collab) doodled the cutoff prevention. I only let her use the mouse. Mwahaha.

Total frame count: 125 Unique Frames (for 4.23 seconds of animation...don't worry, I'm only slightly dead.)

Total time spent: Oh goodness...this felt like it's taken longer than any other part I've done. Maybe 8-10 hours? It might've been 12 though.

ScarletFails; Pokedraw Episode 1

Scarlet Shadowhawk 2016-08-04 | Told ya I'd do something different! Sort of.

Basically I thought it'd be fun to record myself failing at pokedraw? I dunno if it's really interesting or not but hey, if it's not then we can just forget this ever happened and never go back to it again. Yay!

Basically what pokedraw is is that you have to draw a pokemon (specifically the kanto ones) in 45 seconds. It sounds easy at first but it's really not. Also the black boxes are censored stuff 'cause sometimes people will draw...things when they're bored (I might've missed a couple though, not sure. ^^;) I could've put it on the stupid kids version thing but I also found a lot of the other doodles really funny so I just censored the sketchy ones. Ta da. (Maybe I'll just do that next time though, depending on how sketchy the top doodles are).

Also featuring my older sister Rachel. That nugget.

So I kinda always wanted to do some stupid things like this on the side on this channel (art+animation would still be the main priority tho), so I guess this is just a test to see if I should continue this in the future or not.

For some reason my recording program never aligns the video and audio right so I have to go through flaming hoops whenever I make these kinds of videos but oh well. Should've edited a bit of the end out because both of us were beginning to ramble but other than that I think it turned out fine. You can probably really tell how horribly scripted I was in the intro but eh, hopefully I'll get better at that should I do this again. (If I do continue this it'll probably be...I dunno, 5-10 episodes total? However many it takes to draw most/all of the pokemon this thing gives you).

If you've ever read the comic, this is basically the part where Kotar dies. Ta da.

This actually took way longer than I anticipated. It's only two camera shots at around 4 seconds (and 32 frames, which is about half, maybe a third of how many my normal MAP parts are), but I still ended up asking for an extension. This part of the comic was probably the most dramatic moment thus far, so I added extra shading and lighting and that bit me in the butt later coloring. Eh well, at least it looks nice I guess.

The weird blip at the end was the cuttoff prevention. I dunno I just wanted to do something different for some reason.

Been on vacation a lot, because a lot of vacations have been scheduled and I can't do anything about it. Not that I don't like vacation, but a certain side of my family is extremely extroverted and have a tendency to want to cram as many activities as they can into a small period of time which is way more stressful than actually fun, especially since I'm an introvert (I lean a little towards ambivert in some cases, but not when I'm around that side of family). I'll still try to be active on here as much as possible though. I have a couple MAP parts due soonish and an animation diary I'm wrapping up, so it won't be too inactive.

So uh yeah. Certain parts took a lot of work, others were pretty much half-butt-rushed in my opinion. XD For example, the lip-sync was 50 frames exactly. So over half of the frames were devoted completely to lip-sync. And the bottle shattering at the end required having to tween / manipulate 8 different video tracks at once.

Both characters are random angsty dog-like things that I haven't really drawn / animated as of yet. (Minus my last MAP part), I've been animating a lot of angst recently, haven't I? XDD I should try and keep that to a minimum...

So yep! A part for Camy-Orca's OC PMV MAP. I tried to tone down the tweening a little, but I still made the words appear in a more dramatic way to make it more snazzy. Hopefully that's alright. Even though this is a PMV MAP I still felt tempted to due a lot of tweening and action and stuff, for some reason. This is a somewhat lion-like creature OC that I have that I haven't really named yet. XD I was basically looking through my folder of characters to see which one would be the most unusual and sassy and I found this one. Altered his colors to fit the palette, but other than that I'd say he fits in pretty well. The lioness briefly shown in one of the first few shots is Monai. I just kinda threw her in there just 'cause.

I had ideas for what I wanted to do for most of the shots, but a couple of them I didn't know what to do so I was like "screw it" and doodled some stuff up on the spot. XD Like the crown one. Didn't really know what to do for that one.

This features two of my dragon characters: Krayos and his dying girlfriend, who shoved him out of the way and took an arrow to the chest near the end of a battle. They were featured in the Up With the Wolves PMV MAP part I made a long time ago, but other then that they really haven't been mentioned.

Ehhh. I like how this came out for one little snippet of it (the part without any lyrics where she was bleeding). It was kinda half-butt done I'll be honest, but even then it looks pretty crappy in my opinion. I could've redone it, but I didn't really want this part to take much longer to make. However, I'm really, really proud of that last shot. It looks so dramatic. ;u;

The Journey MAP Part 2

I actually did a little playing around with this one. For example, I toyed with the lighting at first, and on the second-to-last shot, I did a little animation smudging, which I haven't tried before up 'till this point. I like how it looks though. It's almost like Taichi's winking? smirking? Wirking/Sminking? I don't really know, it kinda looks like both. XD That sassy murderous little nugget.

That last shot too though was like 20-something frames, aaah. I meant it to be more like him scratching his talons into the ground but it doesn't really look like that. x. x'

So uh yep, basically Thistle and Taichi about to fight in the arena. Can't really think of anything left to say, it's ten p.m. over here and I really should go to bed otherwise I'll hate school the next morning.

The shot where the wolves / dragon are climbing up the cliff and then the one where the dragon leaps down were easily the longest here. I remember one point in time I was literally so unmotivated that I just couldn't get myself to do any more frames at the time. But it's done now, so yay.

The wolves are just random designs I conjured up last minute, but the dragon is a character of mine that is currently unnamed. Right from the start I knew I wanted to animate a dragon with this and so I basically searched through all of my dragon characters until I found one that could look menacing enough. The end result was this.

Kinda in a hurry to post this, but maybe I'll add more description if I think of anything more to say. Hope you like it. ;v;

CoC Intro MAP Part 1

Scarlet Shadowhawk 2016-04-10 | Less than 2 weeks later and uploaded a few minutes past midnight? PFFT, NAH, I haven't lost my mind...yet.

Although I do want to be more active on Youtube. School isn't hitting me quite as hard as it was when it started, so I've had a little more time to get stuff done. I'm gonna try and upload one video every two weeks here on out, but I might go over by a few days to a week if the video is a longer or more complex one (or if school decides it wants to be a pain in the butt again).

Yeah... I had this really complex idea for the first shot, easily over a 100 frames (probably would've been like 300 if I finished linearting it), but that would've taken me like two years so...I went with a more simplistic approach, but I think it still looks nice. Sorry about the wait, better late then never I suppose? ;u;

Another thing I tried out this time: Colored lines in the background. I think it looks more blended, although it is a little of a hassle. Eh, maybe I'll do it for other parts, but probably not.

Fitzgerald the bun bun returns! 8D A little headcanon of mine is that most of my characters don't actually kill or try to kill him (with the exception of Morsatra), they just catch him let him go, then catch him again just to irritate him. He's hardly even scared of them anymore it seems. Eh well, at least Peppermint (the dragon shown in the cutoff prevention and whose eyes are in the last shot) is happy.

AAAAGH I'm so sorry for the inactivity everyone! x. x' I know this isn't really worth the one month wait after my most recent video. I was really productive last saturday when it comes to drawing / animating , hopefully the same will be for this weekend! (Although I doubt it, because there's a winter formal dance this saturday and I'm a party animal at heart so there's no way I'm missing that...;D )

ANYWAY, this was made mostly for fun, it contains literally no plot or deep thought process at all. It's basically your standard, horribly cliche, but heck-of-a-lot-of-fun to make love triangle. 'Cause I do love me some triangles. 8D Just kidding. Triangles are a cool shape though.

Literally all it is is Ahan, one of my character dragon-thingies being a confident butt-nugget like he always is and flirting with Temptations, a dragoness who's already in a relationship because he's just that much of a jerk. Temptations' boyfriend is named Raphael. I've always thought of them as the rather flirtatious but overly protective and jealous couple. I really should write more about their relationship, it'd make in interesting sub-plot in some story somewhere, I'm sure.

I remember stumbling across this song once and then listening to it over and over and this kinda spawned from it, back when I had just hit 100 subscribers. I don't listen to the song anymore but eh, at least it inspired me to be productive for once?

What I meant by Moving PMV is that instead of every word and drawing being static like most PMVs there's a lot of movement and tweening. I thought that'd make it more exciting and it'd fit in better with the music.

Anyway, thank you everyone for helping me hit 116 subscribers! ;u; I never thought I'd get past eight or fourteen, I mean, that's over a hundred individuals that actually think my crappy doodles and stuff are nice? Kinda crazy when you put it into that kind of perspective.

Agh, terribly sorry for all of the inactivity (and for this taking so long, sorry Wolfferra)! I've been having less and less motivation to draw / animate recently. I'm going to try to work on some things this weekend though, so hopefully I'll get a bit more work done art/animation-wise! Was considering putting "gore warning" or something like that in the title, but due to my inexperience in drawing blood and stuff I thought I'd just slap it in the description. If you think it might be a bit much though, feel free to tell me in the comments and I'll correct it. Speaking of that first shot, it was 36 frames. x. x' Eh well, at least it's smooth.

My favorite shots are probably the ones with the claws raising and the last shot at the very end. Wish the light didn't flash like that in the second to last shot. It wasn't like that before I rendered it, but Sony Vegas decided it was going to be a jerk today apparently.

Basic summary of what's going on: Hawk (gray+dark gray raptor) is badly wounded while fighting and about to be finished off by Fang (blackish raptor), then his girlfriend *cough* I MEAN GIRL THAT'S A FRIEND, ERRR, named Flash (silver+gray raptor) comes across this and attacks Fang, saving Hawk. ouo The characters don't belong to me, all of the script Wolferra came up with.

Anywho, a MAP part animation featuring two griffins! The first one is Mercutio, and the second one is...I don't know. I kinda designed her on the spot. So basically all this is is Mercutio being a flirty little nugget with some random griffin chick. XD

Eh well. I know the color switches during the first shot, but it's unfixable, sorry. x. x' Ugh, I hate how the lip-sync turned out too. It was 30 something frames but it doesn't even look like he's saying it. I suppose it's close enough, for now. I'll definitely have to practice some more lip sync in the future though. Eck. Eh well, at least I know now what I need to improve on.

That one tweening shot took forever. Seriously. I had six or seven different layers I had to tween individually. Not fun. I kinda like how the last half turned out though, I guess.

Summers Ending...(And Updates, Please Read the Description)

So uh...yeah. School for me is starting up again on September 2nd (not the 4th that was a typo) and I'm going to be loaded with a crap ton of homework. My classes include but are not limited to Honors Pre-Calculus, Honors Composition, Honors Chemistry, US History 2, and Economics.

So...I'm not going to have nearly as much time to work on animations. Don't worry, this doesn't mean dropping out of any of the current MAPs I'm in or canceling The Price of Vengeance. I'll just be making things at a slower pace, that's all.

To help keep you guys updated on how long things I make might take, here's a little...thingy.

Yeah, at first I was leaning towards a fancy PMV sort of style, but then I animated the last half. So uh...a strange hybrid of some sort?

Sorry if I didn't get Vixy's design right. As I looked through a bunch of drawings of her, I couldn't find a consistent style of where her spots were. So I just kind of simplified them. XD I think I got Dusk right for the most part though. (Oh wait, General Dusk!)

No, I don't ship these two. I just chose two characters that definitely wouldn't go together and slapped them together as a pair. I doubt they have even seen each other in canon. XD

Basic summary of this whole thing: Vixy taunts Dusk and steals her necklace, and Dusk eventually swipes it back. I might be able to picture Vixy actually doing that, especially if the necklace has emotional / sentimental value, but it kind of looks more like a trinket than something vitally important.

I feel like the more I animate, the lazier I get. I could've sworn I reused that grassy background I made for the first shot four or five times.

So yeah! Basically Morsatra (yus, she returns! 8D Remember that one other MAP part I made forever ago?) is out hunting. But due to her not having a mouth, she doesn't "eat" the way most things do. She just pins them down and then drains their life force, which gives her energy. Probably a pretty painful way to die, but it was fun animating it!

I think it was pretty obvious the rabbit was going to die from the beginning. Who knows? Maybe I'll reincarnate Fitzgerald the BunBun and use him for other future animations. You know, like how TribbleofDoom has Harold the frog and MagickyMuffin has a hedgehog? Yay or nay?

Yes I gave Morsatra googly eyes at the end. It seemed like a fun idea at the time. o_O

Never taking two long MAP parts that are right next to each other ever again. x. x' Oh well. I like bits and pieces of the animation. Didn't come out as cool as it looked in my head though. Then again, they never do.

Lots of frames too. 154, to be exact. And most of the time it was running at at 24 frames per second. Although there was quite a bit of tweening and special effects I used to decrease that number. Just figured out how to focus and unfocus things. I probably abused the fade to whites too. XD

Goodness, Sony Vegas has been giving me a lot of of trouble lately. It used to be fullscreen without much effort but now I have to render it a certain way and do all these extra things. Nonetheless, it's become a bit of a pain in the butt now. x. x'

Meh...this didn't come out quite like I wanted. A few of the aspects I felt like I really animated crappily, for example, Layali's bleeding shoulder or the dots above Zain's eyes. Oh well...I hope it's up to her standards.

Anywho, these characters aren't mine. All of them belong to MagickyMuffin, and are from her series Painted Flowers. It's pretty good, so if you're bored and feel the need to watch something not as horrible as my animations, go to her channel.

This is the scene from episode...2 I think? Basically Layali's out hunting and gets kicked in the shoulder by the deer. Zain, an african wild dog from a different pack, discovers her injured on their border.

I tried making them look a bit more like painted dogs instead of wolves or hyenas by exaggerating the ears and making them a bit more fox-like, but I'm unsure if I accomplished that.

I've never participated in a PMV MAP, and since it doesn't have any animation generally I pretty much tweened the entire thing. I don't think that really counts as animation, but...

When I listened to the song it had this rugged, rustic / rough kind of feel to it, so that's why I went sketchy-ish with the part. So it's not like that because I'm lazy, it's like that because that's how I wanted it. :P

The characters featured are Krayos and some other random dragoness. I know it goes pretty fast so here's the basic principle:

Krayos is a retired, battle-torn general. While he led a dragon army he fell in love with a young dragoness, but when she was drafted for a war he was horrified. She saved him from an arrow to the heart by shoving him out of the way, but she died of it and her other wounds only minutes later. Ever since then, Krayos has not seemed to feel any emotion at all, and keeps it locked inside the depths of his heart, where no one will ever find them.

Depressing, am-I-right? XD Oh, I do love a good character with a tragic backstory. There's probably too many of those nowadays, though. Oops.

Youtube made it so this wasn't fullscreen, so I had to go back and crop it. It clips off part of my watermark and is shifted a little strange, but since I'm unable to recover the original sony vegas file that'll have to do. x. x

Fun Fact: These are not Krayos's actual colors. He's actually black and blue, but I wanted to use him so bad that I decided to just use the color scheme I had to and just went with that. Eh, I'll just blame it on the lighting. Curse you lighting! You're at it again. XD

No. I just felt the need to submit this. XD The person that requested it has been waiting for a while, anyway.

Don't expect this to happen often. This is only because I got some headshot requests in return for helping me with something. After this video it'll be back to one every 1 - 3 weeks. Maybe a month or two if I'm working on something really big (like a series or something, but that probably won't come into play for a while now).

Sony Vegas can't speed things as fast as WMM can, so that'w why this is 4-5 minutes instead of like 1-2. :P

I included the sketch process to make sure the video had at least parts of both of the requester's songs. It isn't really much, just laying out the pose and whatnot, but it's necessary to the drawing, I suppose.

Yes, I do realize the song playing in the background is Angry Birds. It was the only song I could find that remotely fitted the character's personality. You don't need to comment about it. XD Although I bet $50 someone won't read the description and come waltzing in like they own the place and say that. Oy...what my life would be like if everyone actually read the darn description...

Sony Vegas doesn't allow you speed things up as fast as WMM, so that's why it goes a bit slow. I guess it could be considered a tutorial too, since it goes slow enough for you to track everything I'm doing. XD

This is basically showing my entire animating process when I did the video that was posted before this one, the Stand in the Rain MAP Part 6.

This song is basically the same one that's used in the MAP. Aren't I creative? XD Sorry if this is a bit too fast, I kind of squashed it so that I could fit it into the song. Maybe I'll do a fullout tutorial later? Comment if you want me to do a tutorial on how I doodle / animate for the future.

Most of this MAP Part was pretty much tweening, though, so there isn't much actual animating happening here. XD Except for the middle / end.

So yep! This MAP Part features Adaia, a dragon character of mine. The basic story behind this is that one night her mother, the queen, was assassinated. Adaia and her father are deeply saddened by this loss, and one day she swears to get revenge on the dragons that had caused her mother's death.

Yes, they are frost dragons, so in the very beginning that is blood, it's just blue. I always pictured elemental dragons having different colored blood depending on their species.

Ever since I learned how to tween in Sony Vegas I've been practically spamming it. XDD It saves so much time! The only really animated bit is Adaia laying down a flower and narrowing her eyes. The rest is just shiny special effects.

I recorded how I animated this, too, so within a week or so I should have my very first animation diary posted! c: Granted, no one's really asked me to make one of these, but I thought since a lot of animators do them it'd be interesting to try.

Goodness gracious, I was so stressed when drawing this. It may sound stupid, but doing nothing but animating whenever I could for the past two weeks with such a close deadline is really draining. Next time I participate in any MAPs, I must have at least two months to work on it. XD

This is what happens when you rush me you foolish mortals! XDD The colors are outside of the lines a lot and the colors are too far inside the lines sometimes. I was rushing this so badly to get it done that I didn't even care that it looked crappy. I'm terribly sorry, Aihpos. x. x

The black at the end is just because my editing program wasn't rendering it correctly and instead of cutting off cleanly at the fade to white I was forced to render it with a couple milliseconds of black to make sure all of the audio was there (the audio kept being clipped off if I didn't do this).

This is the scene in Wings of Fire, The Dragonet Prophecy, where Clay is forced to battle Fjord in the SkyWing arena. I always pictured when a IceWing powered up its frost-breath that it was a lot like a Night Fury in terms of the sound effect and whatnot, so I went with that. XD

The rotate in the very beginning was originally going to be 180 degrees instead of 90, but I didn't have enough time to work all that out so I was forced to do something simpler.

The wild Fjord used Ice Beam!

I admit, Stormcutter dragons from HTTYD 2 looked pretty hard to draw at first, with all their fancy horns and frills, but I think I pulled it off perfectly fine.

I had a tricky time getting the speedpaint to fit with the song, so I sped up the linearting process a bit, so I'm sorry if it's a bit hard to see.

Also, keep in mind that school has already started for me, so I probably will only be able to submit one video every 1 week to 2 months. So please, be patient and hang in there with me~

I tried drawing very thin lines to see how hard they would be to color...Wow. Coloring took me three times longer then it should have. XD Nonetheless, I'm sorry if it didn't turn out the way you wanted, Chimaerix. ;-;

The commissioner asked for tribal music and it took me a lot of digging to find some somewhat okay soundtracks to go on there. Sorry if some of the soundtracks aren't what you had in mind. x. x

Wow, this turned out really long. It took me so long to color the bases that I had to crop it out otherwise the "Speed"paint would've been easily over 20 minutes. o. o And last time I checked, Speedpaints have the word 'Speed' in them for a reason.
