But in return he must surrender to the alien all of his emotions - including Love. ________________________________________________________________________________THE SOUNDTRACKIn making music for The Outer Limits 2nd season, Harry Lubin had to rely on a smaller orchestra. The result was a drier, more brittle set of stock cues offset by a heavy reliance on electronic keyboard instruments, such as the "Ondes Martenot".Lubin's music is more tonal than Frontiere's scoring centering around definite harmonic poles, often using consonant chords with a dissonant note or pattern played around them. Or a simple accompaniment to the orchestra is set up, then a slow-moving, spooky-sounding theme is added or played solo. The omcredible reliance on shock chords composed of screaming brass against a full orchestra for fadeout cues is unfortunate, contraducting Frontiere's more elegant use of similar cues during the 1st season. The raucous “Suicide Attempt” is used for both Eric’s reckless drive home in act one and the climactic showdown at the end of act four. Other cues used include the lovely “Floating Dream” and the bombastic “Evil Horror". Harry Lubin produced this soundtrack with assistance of a device called a Theremin, which sounds very mechanical and strange. Case in point Track 10 "What Did You Do To Him (Haunting Trautonium 2)" is played several times during the show, giving us a real eerie, scary effect.As with any vocal removal project, some artifacts (such as fx) may remain and cannot be removed. In some cases I was able to use Lubin's Web site stash of musical cues to replace the matching TV cues. Others seemed to match, but upon A-B comparison, some had different tempos, others had slightly different notes in various places; which I chose not to use.Considering there is no "Outer Limit's" Lubin soundtrack available, you may want to give this one a listen. "_________________________________SYNOPSISIt's Christmas at Shining Time Station and Schemer is as scheming as ever as he campaigns to be chosen as Santa's helper for the Indian Valley Gala Holiday Pageant. A mysterious elderly stranger by the name of Mr. Nicholas visits the station and seems to know a lot about the Shining Time Station residents._________________________________SOUNDTRACK The audio of this 1990 special "Shining Time Station: 'Tis A Gift" was recorded in mono. Even though the special was eventually released on DVD, no soundtrack has ever been produced. So for all the "Shining Time" fans, here's a collection of all of the major tracks, ripped from a VHS copy recorded in 1991.Kevin Roth, Rory Dodd, Vanéese Y. Thomas and Brian Edward O'Connor are among the artists who provide the vocal talents. The climatic track "'Tis A Gift" song by Rachel Miner and Rory Dodd conclude this Holiday special with the entire cast singing.Due to the mixing of the original recording of this song, Rachel's initial singing is surrounded by the cast arguing.Using special Noise Reduction techniques, I was able to reduce most of this "chatter", (but not completely) from this beautiful rendition.*UPDATE* Using AI software, I was able to recover a few more tracks with minimal artifacts remaining, such as "10 A Place Unlike No Other" .The vocal tracks are now remixed in AI stereo.I did choose however not to produce a "complete" soundtrack since most of the userscore is just incidental organ playing. This is Ringo Starr's last appearance as Mr. Conductor. His role would be taken over by George Carlin in the next season.Although generally considered to be a 'special', this was the 21st and final episode of Season 1. Upon release on VHS, the Thomas stories in this episode were rearranged. "Thomas’ Christmas Party" was made the first story, while "Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree" became the second story. As Ringo Starr never created a US version of the latter, the original UK soundtrack was used, however all dialogue including the phrase "Fat Controller" was removed.The sped-up voice heard in Stacy's telephone conversations is actually dialogue from her and Harry from a scene in Promises Promises. (See Season 1: Promises, Promises Episode Notes). The footage used for the opening and closing sequences were filmed at the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams, Arizona, and features their locomotive #18. Incidentally, the 18 makes a second appearance as it's whistle, a Southern Pacific six-chime, is used for Mr. Nicholas' heard-but-not-seen "Northern Star." The locomotive now resides at the Mt. Hood Railroad in Oregon.The special was taped in Toronto, where it would remain for the rest of the series. The music video, The Hobo Song, was originally going to be cut out as the producers felt it would be too emotional for young viewers, but the final decision was made that it would be kept in as it conveyed an important message.

Other more notable tunes, such as Charlie Brown Theme, Peppermint Patty and a jazz/rock version of the franchise signature tune, Linus and Lucy, were used as well. During the Homecoming Parade, Linus tells Charlie Brown that he will be the escort for the Queen, but Charlie Brown is shocked when he sees the Queen, and it is, the Little Red-Haired Girl.The game begins with Charlie Brown as kicker and Lucy as his placekick setter. But even in a real football game, Lucy still humiliates Charlie Brown, pulling the ball away four times during the game as he tries to kick it, including a crucial field goal attempt in the last thirty seconds. The team loses by one point, and Charlie Brown is wrongly blamed by team captain Peppermint Patty. Despite the indignity, Charlie Brown remains faithful to his duty and escorts Queen Heather to the middle of the dance floor, and then summons the courage to kiss her on the cheek. ____________________________________________________________________________ THE SOUNDTRACK Unfortunately a "use" sheet for this episode is not available, so all track names are attributed to action on the screen. This was the first Peanuts special produced after the sudden, tragic death of Vince Guaraldi in 1976 (and the second overall, after the feature film, "Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown", released the same year); in his place were Ed Bogas, who would also score the Garfield specials and shows, and Judy Munsen, and rather than imitate Guaraldi's style, they would bring their own musical flavor to the specials. In fact, the only familiar theme here is a nicely done, soulful piano version of the main Linus and Lucy theme, which plays during both of the flying sequences with Snoopy and Woodstock. In any case, Bogas and Munsen really managed to do their own thing and make it fit with the Peanuts style. With the parade and football game in the story, they were able to create a lot of big, memorable fanfares, as well as a fun, funky theme for the scene where the football game is underway and a country-esque, banjo piece for some of Snoopy's antics on the field. As for the scenes at the Homecoming Dance, they come up with some energetic dance music, a royal-sounding march for the escort, and a lovely string piece that goes fully orchestral during Charlie Brown's dream of flying through the clouds after he kisses Heather. Back then I was 13 years old I had an Aiwa 3 inch Reel to Reel Tape Recorder. I hung the microphone on the Channel knob, trying to get clean sound from the TV speaker. I remember yelling at my Brothers, "shut up", I'm recording" ! Now after all this time, I can finally say the soundtrack is complete.First, there are some original Guaraldi classics here that are certainly worth the listen. Let's start off with 5 versions of the "Red Baron" theme; some even in different keys / tempos. Then there's "Schroeder's Wolfgang" which is a variation of "Choro" from Vince Guaraldi's "Both Sides" album. Oh and let's not forget yet another lively version of "Linus and Lucy" with the flutes added.Guaraldi turned this score into something of a "greatest hits" collection of his previous Peanuts compositions, granting ample exposure to "Peppermint Patty" and "The Red Baron", as the sandaled tomboy and the world-famous beagle were this story's primary characters.The extensive use of "The Red Baron" including a minor key variant was appropriate for a storylie that found Snoopy misbehaving to extremes. These selections are accompanied by "Linus and Lucy", "O Good Grief", "Happiness Is", "Charlie Brown's All-Stars" and even "Bon Voyage". "Pebble Beach" also was revived, although it was re-titled "House-wife Theme" for this show, and used as energetic underscore when Peppermint Patty put Snoopy to work cleaning her entire house.Guaraldi also lifted one track from his "Jazz Impressions of A Boy Named Charlie Brown", which hadn't been used on a TV special. "Blue Charlie Brown", a slow mournful theme employed as Snoopy banished to Peppermint Patty's garage for his rottent attitude, lamented his fare and finally realized that he was much, much better off in his old neighborhood. Linus offers to help her and suggests the library will provide them with the needed information. They learn Arbor Day was created by J. Sterling Morton, an early conservationist. Linus reads aloud from a book that states "Arbor Day points out to both children and adults the need to protect certain areas of our natural forests and woodlands." Arbor means tree, and trees are planted in celebration of Arbor Day. ____________________________________________________________________________ THE SOUNDTRACK The musical score features the final compositions and recorded performances of Vince Guaraldi. 47-year-old Guaraldi died suddenly several hours after completing the soundtrack for this special. As 1976 began, Guaraldi brought McCain and Zimmerman to the Wally Heider studio. The trio spent the next month laying down the tracks.The baseball-themed storyline lent itself to the revival of the "baseball theme", not heard since "A Boy Named Charlie Brown". Guaraldi's trio extemporized on this cue several times during the show building to a climax when Lucy accepted a challange to try for a homerun.A few of these riffs on the "Baseball Theme" marked Guaraldi's sole use of acoustic piano; the rest of the score was done with an electric keyboard and synthesizer. Hoping to join the fun for a special dance with the Little Red-Haired Girl, he tries desperately to finish in time.____________________________________________________________________________THE SOUNDTRACKThis is one of a handful of Peanuts cartoons where the music was done by Ed Bogas and Desiree Goyette, the duo who are best known for the music to the Garfield cartoons (this would be the last one in which they were the actual composers, although they would act as musical directors for Snoopy: The Musical). As per usual, they manage to capture the essence of Vince Guaraldi's music, with smooth piano tunes and instances of electronic, synthesizer pieces, while giving it their own flavor. Since it's a New Year's special, Auld Lang Syne is heard in various incarnation throughout, often in a sweet saxophone version, before the kids actually sing it near the end when the clock strikes midnight (a really forlorn version is heard when Charlie Brown realizes he missed his chance to dance with the Little Red-Haired Girl), and there's a lot of genuinely festive music to go along with the theme as well. And when Rerun is inflating balloons into squares, there's a low, flat horn sound that plays whenever he blows into one.As you've gathered, there are a couple of songs on the soundtrack. Desiree Goyette herself sings "Slow, Slow, Quick, Quick", an upbeat, whimsical instructional song for learning the foxtrot that you hear when Charlie Brown dances with Peppermint Patty. It's quite a lovely song, mostly because of Goyette's absolutely beautiful voice, and it makes learning to dance come off as playful and fun, which is perfect for kids. The other song is "Musical Chairs", sung by Kristie Baker as Peppermint Patty, and like Slow, Slow, Quick, Quick, is basically just instructions for how to play the game, but done in a fast-paced, speedy, and energetic manner. The shortness of music and the use of music as sound effects make the situation more realistic for the viewer, such as the Doppler effect sounds.When Ian is in the fourth dimension, all of the notes in the brass chord go up chromatically while sustained as whole notes for a long duration; this pattern lasts several minutes. It is used for dramatic climax and then the trombones play an atonal melody during the temporal shift, occurring in the cue "B.M.", then returns to the ascending chromatic section but now with more brass.This occurs when Ian, halfway in the fourth dimension, holds onto Eva (Nina Foch) for dramatic effect. The movement of the chromatic chords then quicken when Mr. Hartly (Barry Jobes) goes into the fourth dimension to find his deceased son. This use of chromatic block chords is a convention that derives from early horror film scores. This cue lasts over five and a half minutes and, according to the cue sheet, it overlaps two acts. He picks up a woman wearing an expensive gown, his last fare for the night, and she asks to be taken to her home at 16 Parkside Lane, an address in an affluent section of town. Harry finds the woman familiar at first, but she seems not to recognize him until after she looks at him in the rear-view mirror and glances at his taxi license. It is then revealed that she is Sue, an old flame from Harry's youth. In flashback, Harry remembers how he "used to take her home in his car" and also how they "learned about love in the back of a Dodge," adding, "The lesson hadn't gone too far." Sue had wanted to be an actress, while Harry was going to learn to fly . Their relationship ended when Sue "took off to find the footlights" and Harry "took off to find the sky."The song's bridge features the bass player, John Wallace, in falsetto, singing: "Baby's so high, that she's skying Yes she's flying, afraid to fall I'll tell you why baby's crying Cause she's dying, aren't we all?"The taxi arrives at Sue's lavish home. Mike's wife Valerie told us: "Ride Captain is a story from his imagination. I know when he was in the studio recording that album, they needed another song and he wrote it on the spot. He came up with 73 from the keyboard having 73 keys. A lot of people say it relates to a few different stories."The keyboard they used was a Rhodes electric piano, and this was an early use of the instrument on a popular song. A plausible, but false interpretation of the song is that it is about Sir Francis Drake's voyage on the west coast of America. Drake did sail once with 73 sailors, and he sailed in the vicinity of San Francisco. The only problem is, Charlie Brown doesn’t know how to play._______________________________________________________________________ABOUT THIS SOUNDTRACKIf you're familiar with the Peanuts specials "It's Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown" and "You're in the Super Bowl, Charlie Brown", David Benoit performed and arranged the music score consisting of variations of songs originally performed by jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi. As such, you'll notice this soundtrack has musical tracks like "Surfin' Snoopy", "Masked Marvel" and "Red Baron", but are played at a slightly different tempo and key. All of them have Benoit's magic touch, which makes them truly reminiscent of Vince's original tracks. I know the first time I heard these, I was tapping my foot to the "Masked Marvel", which appears no less than six times.Originally I wanted to source the music from the new 5.1 version. Unfortunately it suffered from severe vocal bouncing between channels. So my only choice was to use the old 2 channel version, which surprising worked out pretty well.Bear in mind though, that with any vocal removal process, maintaining true stereo always leaves some artifacts (squeaks) and background noises behind. Guaraldi's most famous composition "Linus And Lucy" here gets a new arrangement with some horns added.Featuring some Vince Guaraldi classics such as "Surfin' Snoopy", "All-Stars Theme", "Baseball Theme", "Charlie Brown And His All-Stars" and the TV version of "Pebble Beach".And thanks to Malcolm Dewbarry for pointing out the missing track "Trumpet Fanfare", which has been included in this version. Sorry, "Rain, Rain, Go Away" still has the rain fx in it.To my surprise "Charlie Brown's All-Stars" finally appeared on BluRay with a 5.1 audio track. While that made my job easier to separate the music, I was dismayed at the quality. Just like it's predecessor "Charlie Brown Christmas", this special has horrible hiss through most of the songs.But, if you love baseball tunes, this is the Guaraldi special for you! (Thanks to Elijah for finding this)For the most part the audio track was very clean without most of the annoying fx from the previous version.That being the case, I was able to extract a perfect copies of "17-19 Nova Bossa, Love Will Come, Nova Bossa" and "12 Oh Good Grief2" by Vince Guaraldi.On the down side, whoever did the editting chopped out pieces of songs (and video too) mostly at the beginning and the end.Here's the inconsistencies I found (compared to v2): 02. Again he varies the tempo and content, sometimes eliminating bars or changing the key entirely.After purchasing the "remastered" video for $7, I was disappointed in the "Dolby 2.0 Surround" mix; similar to the old 1980's quadraphonic matrix mixes.Tweaking a Dolby decoder, I managed to remove about 90% of the vocals.In addition I had to resort to using a "Vocal Remover" to eliminate the remaning vocals. Youre a Good Sport, Charlie Brown [Complete Soundtrack] - Vince Guaraldi Trio (1975) spetragl 2020-06-19 | Original Score by Vince Guaraldi TrioOriginal Broadcast October 28, 1975Featuring Seward McCain (Bass) and Mark Rosengarden (Drums)._______________________________ SYNOPSIS The story finds Charlie Brown, the famous sports failure, competing against Peppermint Patty and the Masked Marvel (alias Snoopy) in a charity motocross race._______________________________ THIS SOUNDTRACK The music score for "You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown" was something of a departure from Guaraldi's other scores as the music fused his jazz style with the funk, disco and pop music of the 1970s that was popular at the time coupled with the use of the ARP String Ensemble synthesizer that was used on many pop songs of the era.This was one of the weakest of the Guaraldi scores. The majority of the show was dominated by repetitive percussive refrains of the vamp-until-ready cue that accompanied the story's central motocross race, which Charlie unwisely entered.Guaraldi added some minor bits of melodic business on electric keyboard a few times, but for the most part the music behind the race was monotonous; the long synthesizer chords Guaraldi held behind the melodic tidbits were grating and quite annoying. What's different about this score is rather than using the standard piano, Vince performs his sonic magic on a Hammond organ.The soundtrack is highlighted by different variations of "The Heartburn Waltz" (the "Be My Valentine" title track). While this engaging theme is heard no less than eight times during the course of the Peanuts TV special, they are never quite the same way twice.Guaraldi vamped and noodled through numerous arrangements utilizing Hammond B3 variations, even though he actually recorded more versions than ultimately were actually used in the show. And just when you think there are no more "Master Tapes" floating around the Internet, all of a sudden you get a "Bon Jovi-ism"; "Hey Mister D.J. can you listen to my song?"So I gave it a listen. I want to thank "Beatles Instrumentals and More" for providing me with a bunch of new "Giraldi" "Peanuts" 5.1 soundtracks. With 99% of the fx in the (C)enter channel, the Lf and Rf tracks are near pristene; I only had to do minimal editting. (I discarded the Ls and Rs since they were copies of the Front with echoes)And as always, thanks to Derrick Bang for providing the "Use Sheets" containing the track names.This soundtrack contains an early version of "The Red Baron Theme" with odd flat notes. While the episode introduced us to the new character "Peppermint Patty", Vince Guaraldi had fun "noodling" with the original "Peppermint Patty Theme" and 4 versions of "Psychiatric Vamp".Finally, Vince Guaraldi scored an "A" with 4 different versions of the title track "You're In Love, Charlie Brown", each take with slightly different instruments! And lets not forget the vocal version, sung by the "West Hillsborough School Choir".So give this soundtrack a serious listen. MacArthur Park [full version] - Donna Summer spetragl 2020-05-05 | MacArthur Park [full version] Sung By Donna Summer ____________________________________________________________________________ SYNOPSIS Donna Summer was in the midst of the disco peak in her career when her producer and long time collaborator Giorgio Moroder asked her to record a cover version of ‘MacArthur Park’, a track written by Jimmy Webb and originally performed by Richard Harris. Moroder had been looking for a 60s track to give a disco makeover for a good while when he heard ‘MacArthur Park’ on the radio and decided it would be a perfect fit for Summer. Summer at that stage just had major success with singles like ‘Last Dance’ and ‘I Feel Love’.‘MacArthur Park’ became one of the bigger hits in Donna Summer’s impressive career, hitting number 1 in the US and Canada and reaching top 10 in numerous other countries, outperforming the original in the charts. Summer recorded the song in a couple of different versions, the original being over 8 minutes long, but a more radio friendly version about half the length made sure that the track became the hit it deserved to be. ____________________________________________________________________________ THE SOUNDTRACK A classic by Richard Harris in 1968, and then another classic made by Donna Summer in 1978. Here's a version I've had in my collection since the Disco Era.When the original album was released, the "MacArthur Park Suite" was stitched around "Heaven Knows" and "One Of A Kind". The 45RPM Disco single released for club play, contained some instrumentation which was quite different from the Album.Here I've melded together just "MacArthur Park" to create and even longer [complete] version. It was shown in 38 U.S. markets and on several stations in Canada during November and December. The cost to Lionel for production and time is expected to run to about $100,000. The film contains no Lionel train credits in the scripts, but Lionel equipment is used to illustrate those trains.__________________ABOUT THIS FILMI remember (when I was a kid), I saw this special on a New York TV channel just before Christmas 1960. It's an odd little film that combines trains (thats Model railroad of course) and puppets (that's marionettes), there's also an annoying little boy, and the story is about a puppet escaping from the law and telling of his many train voyages, while in the meanwhile, many types of Lionel trains whizz by. The large Lionel layout in this video is the 1957 Showroom layout. Often called the Super O layout.And that's the main interest of this. Plenty of war equipment, including a submarine, helicopters and yes, portable missles! There's also neat animal-ccentric trains too. Love the Giraffe train!
