Epic Anime OST 2023-08-07 | Hi there! Been a long time. A lot of things change after moving away from college so I apologize for barely any uploads.
I still love doing this, but among other things I love, my available time doesn't permit me to do all sadly and as I lacked content to upload, this thing got sidelined unfortunately, and I am not sure myself if I would be able to go back to my original upload schedule.

But, enough about the life crisis talk, lets talk about the music!
I was one of the more "disappointed" fellows coming out of the theatre finishing the watch, for me the movie was basically a copy of similar previous works. But, that said, I absolutely loved the ending of this movie, and I do mean "LOVED"! And the reason was this scene and this track.

Most people would agree that the main theme track of this show is pretty catchy, at least the "ru ru ru ru" part of that track, and what this soundtrack builds up on is specifically that part. The piano is just so damn emotional, and whats better is how well the different sections of that piano tune fit to the scene in the movie, with each section uplifting the emotions from sadness to hope.

The track starts right off with the piano theme with a little bit of ambient sound in the background. The piano is simple, but sounds extremely good and for natural reasons, fitting to the movie. This first piano section is a slow and deep pitched version of the theme. The ambient sounds set up a little bit of something like climax + suspense if that sounds right, and the piano just builds up the overall emotional hit of the track.

Then the piano comes up again at 0:40 right when the prologue ends and it goes into a bit higher pitch with more additional notes in it filling up the gaps compared to the prologue part. And accompanying this are a nice set of cellos which really start putting the emotional aspects into the track. The track builds up quite a bit to 1:02 and then quickly goes down again.
However there is a sort of interesting noise in the track which keeps fluctuating in background (upto 1:30) while pianos and cellos (pianos mainly) fill up the this transitioning section when the track transitions into its main climax phase.

From 1:27, the track does a very short buildup upto 1:35 which is when the main section of the track kicks in. The piano still plays the main theme with a bit deeper notes compared to previous section, but both cellos and violins accompany it this time with full force and the emotional impact they all give is mindblowingly high. The feeling of helpnessness was so well portrayed with this section when it came in the movie.

The section ends at 1:53 and the track slowly transitions into the finale phase with the cellos and violins covering it. The little section of 2:02 to 2:08 with Oboe (or some flute?) sounded so darn nice.

At 2:07, the track moves away from the sad phase and goes more towards the emotion of "hope". If you notice the pitch of the piano, its much higher compared to all the times the theme was played by the piano, so the track itself starts portraying hope. It was such a nice transition where the main theme itself tells you the different emotions of the track, I loved it. The cello and violins continues accompanying it with more pianos in the background with deeper notes adding depth to it. The small piano section from 2:27 to 2:49 was also a very nice to hear. The final closure phase of the track then starts at 2:50, which sounds nice and brings the track to the closure. However the section post 3:20 was probably not something I loved. Kind of doesn't sit right with me, and I would have liked if the track ended differently than the way it did with this section, but hey, I loved the initial part way too much.

The main theme was definitely not used only in this track, but there are quite a few tracks throughout the movie where it was used.
The two other tracks where it was used, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED too was
1) Abandoned Resort - In ths section, at 3:33, the "ru ru ru ru" part plays, and my god it was such a fantastic version of that part due to the echoes that it included. And when it played at the title of the movie, it was such a surreal experience. The title screen was probably one of the only one time experiences you can have on first watch.

2) Suzume's Departure - The track played a little more emotional version in this section which transitioned into a fantastic rendition of the main theme portraying a sort of "resolve" or "determination". The theme plays at 4:24, and makes such a heavy atmosphere with the bass, which quickly turns around into the resolve part at 4:41.
(I probably will not be uploading these so just mentioned them here in case anyone does stick around reading my descriptions!)

Go Shiina - Empathy of Flame [ Kimetsu no Yaiba - Mugen Ressha-hen ]

Epic Anime OST 2023-02-25 | Here is my yearly upload I guess :) Been planning for months, decided to get this out today for sure.

Kimetsu no Yaiba was a goldmine of soundtracks, at least in its Season 1, but almost all were blocked worldwide. No matter, this is one that I really liked in Season 2.
This is not in the general format of soundtracks I upload and I had to trim out the good part. It is more of a Prologue theme for the TV Anime version of the Movie and plays at the start of first episode.

The track has a very nice orchestral composition to it and is primarily a sort of composition for introducing Rengoku. It can also be said to be a sort of theme for Rengoku which is what the section I uploaded here is, though overall the track has a very Kimetsu no Yaiba~ish theme with those vocals as you hear near the end of this track as well.

The Xylophone (or synthesized Xylophone) sets off a decent base tune that fills in the gaps between different sections of the track. However it is not the only purpose of it, as it does continues in those theme sections as well. Its nice with those violins sort of backing it up in the start of the track. You can also hear some sustained xylophone notes at 0:15 in the background, very faint, which sets up the upcoming section of the track from 0:17.

From 0:17, the trumpets (or clarinet, I am not 100% sure but sounds like processed trumpet) come to the front with those very nice rapid triangle tings. At 0:30. the theme plays again with slower triangles but with a flute accompanying the trumpet (or clarinet). This tune really sets a very nice atmosphere for the upcoming best section of the track at 0:40.

There are very faint vocals in the background from 0:40 onwards, and together with the rest of the instruments going into a higher scale from 0:41 to 0:45 go into the climax at 0:46. I absolutely love the 0:46 to 1:00 section. That theme just sounds amazing in my opinion. The violins in the background, and those slow and repeating horns just add so much depth to the track. Not to mention that xylophone theme also comes back in this section. Rest of the instruments die down at 1:00 leaving only the xylophone (and some other instrument). The xylophone again acts as a sort of filler between the next section of the track at 1:19.

This time the xylophone is joined by a set of cellos adding a sort of rush and intensity to the track along with some synthesized sounds at 1:26. A set of vocal also come in at 1:33. These are the signature Kimetsu no Yaiba sort of vocals. The xylophone and those rapid cellos continue in this section adding a sort of ominous feel overall. However it is a pretty short section quickly ending at 1:45 and that is where I decided to close off the track as well.
The full version of the track is decent as well but I kind of wanted to highlight this particular section the most as this is what I mostly listen to as well.

Hope you all like it as much as I do.

Oh yeah by the way, this track does not have any name, and simply naming it "Prologue" felt like doing injustice. So I sort of named it something more meaningful! The track is called "M1" and is part of this album - vgmdb.net/album/115386

Kajiura Yuki - In early spring [ Fate/Stay Night - Heavens Feel - Spring Song ]

Epic Anime OST 2022-04-17 | There weren't many tracks in heaven's feel that really stood out for me. There was only one upload I did for "Heaven's feel movie - Presage Flower" and that too was not something I found to be very great, but something that went nice ( which unfortunately got copyright blocked ). "Movie 2 - Lost Butterfly" had nothing that caught my ear, and here is "Movie 3 - Spring Song", which had a couple of tracks. From entire heaven's feel movie series, i'd pick this one to be my favourite, much unlike the fate anime series ( including the 2006 one ) where it was hard for me to put my finger on one favourite.

BUT soundtracks aside, this was probably the best fate route ( and probably the most darkest and emotional one as well ) I have seen. Still I would have preferred the anime format better, but the movies did not disappoint at all.

Anyway, coming back to the track, If I recall correctly, this played pretty early on in the movie, and it was right at that intro section of the movie where I knew I needed this track. Funnily enough, we have the signature vocals composed by Kajiura Yuki, HOWEVER these are not just normally composed vocals by her. They are much much more! If you pay attention to it, these vocals are also the tune of the ending song of movie 3 called "Haru wa Yuku". The music is ofcourse music and different, but the symphony is more or less the same. Vocals make it a little hard to notice easily but if you listen to the symphony in this track, and in the ending song "Haru wa Yuku", you will easily notice the resemblace, at least in the first two sections of the track.

The chorus is pretty straightforward, and the background music being more towards the ambient side in the first section of this track, from 0:00 to 0:41. From 0:41 section, the vocal music remains similar, but there is a xylophone added to it making it sound more like a soundtrack. The part is really beautiful, and the overall soundtrack has a mix of emotions, both sadness and happiness, but I think it leans more towards the sad side. But can be interpreted in any way I believe. This second section ends at 1:21 and the track then shifts into the third section of it. Its a little different than the first two where the vocals change their music and a small cello section added to it, but the track closes it pretty quickly in 30 seconds. A little different and honestly I don't know what to feel about this part, but it maintains the flow of the music.
The first two sections remain as my favourite.

I am just a big fan of "Haru wa Yuku" and it wasn't until a few days later when I listened to this track back that I realized the actual music of it. Added more depth to an already great track, at least for me.

Ryo Kawasaki - Front line [ Fate/Grand Order - Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia ]

Epic Anime OST 2022-03-20 | This track was something I instantly noticed and actually liked quite a bit during my watch of this show itself. Its of short length, which is again a good thing as a track like this would not work well if it goes on and on.

The entire track, right from start to the end is heavily creates an atmosphere of severity/intensity. Kind of like a pre-war or pre-calamity kind of theme that really does its job quite well. The usage of this track in episode 17 was just perfect, while in its other places I kind of felt the scenarios were not that intense ( episode 6 usage was also fine I guess ). However, one thing I kind of did not like much in this track is how the track ends. The trumpets (or trumpet like instrument) near the end at 1:14 kind of don't flow well into the track in my opinion. It kind of just sounds different compared to how the rest of the track played, and while it does try to keep the same atmosphere with the tune it plays, it still just feels not as coherent as I would have liked.

Another great part is the actual start of the track with those violin orchestra, drums and deep bass. The entire section from 0:04 to 0:27 was just such an amazing prelude, I have no words. Ofcourse those rapid cello notes after that, from 0:27 onwards, are the actual highlight of the track, but this prelude really set up the rest of the track almost perfectly.

Ryo Kawasaki - To Hold this Shield [ Fate/Grand Order - Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia ]

Epic Anime OST 2022-03-06 | This is the track that opens the show right in the first episode ( if you consider episode 0 as first one ) and the start of this track really captured me a ton.

If I do say honestly, the first and the ending section of this track are the ones that I like the most. Although this is a good track in the middle section of it too, but it feels a little different considering the atmosphere set up by the start of the track. I personally feel the first section is the one that should have been focussed on and developed more and the middle one could have been kept as another new track, but anyway.

That little piano (or maybe some processed string instrument? I am not too srue) and ambient section from 0:00 to 0:05 was such an instant hook for me. And then when the orchestral strings come at 0:06, this track just reaches its pinnacle for me. The pianos and violins, deep bass, light but deep drums, the track just sounds genuinely amazing at this point, continuing upto 0:41.

From 0:42 onwards the theme kind of changes into a kind of transition phase to the action packed part starting at 1:06.

The track sounds different but when looking at it overall, it doesn't sound "too different" in terms of theme (but still sounds different) set by the initial tune. It just feels more actiony at this point. The section from 1:06 to 1:12 also sounds quite good in my opinion, but doesn't really top the initial section for me. The rest of the section is also fairly well done in all honestly, but its just that I was having a different expectation from this track from start. This action set section continues to 1:54 and from 1:55, the track goes back to its starting music, but with a slightly different music composition to give the track a closing.

Overall a really great track, and once again I am not demeaning the middle section which is good in itself and I do listen to that too at times, its just about what I was looking for in this.

PS: Choosing a wallpaper for this was really tough as I wanted to use one that was kind of generalized grand/order wallpaper but the name of the track and the middle action part would not go with that. Looking at the places this was used in the show (especially the start of episode 0), I just want with a bit more on the action side wallpaper.

Keita Haga - Zettai Majuu Sensen [ Fate/Grand Order - Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia ] [ EP ]

Epic Anime OST 2022-02-19 | Greetings ! After a long time I have some thing to share finally!

Recently finished Fate/Grand order Babylonia, I found the story to be just "fine", but the soundtrack was beyond amazing in my opinion. This track, "Zettai Majuu Sensen" is my favourite from the series, which many other tracks also standing close to it but not really touching this. The usage of this track was also really really good in the show, was timed at really great moments where this track was heavily impacting throughout.

Lets talk about the track a little. The track starts off with a really heavy and intense music. It really adds a lot of weight to the scene almost instantly right as it starts. The church bells like sound is just such a great instrument to use, it adds a sort of divinity to it which is what "Fate" series is all about. But ofcourse bells are not the only thing here, the cellos are the ones that add that heaviness to the track. And along with the cellos, violins are there too but remain out of the limelight in the start. They really pick up at 0:16 adding that "intensity" to the track. The drums and cymbals are just perfectly synced to the atmosphere and the music too. The start is just tremendous in my opinion. However, this track does one thing which I have seen many other tracks don't, it is what happens after this initial amazing heavy and intense atmosphere.
I have seen so many tracks that just fail to build on this sort of atmosphere and just go on into an actiony or some other theme direction, which is why I find this track to be such a gem as it builds up on this initial part more. Some examples of this that come to my mind are "Savage wind" from vinland saga, "Akatsuki no yona Final chapter" from Akatsuki no yona, "I don't need pretend friends" from boku no hero academia, etc. This track captures the initial part very well and builds up on it in its second half even more which is what I absolutely love about this track and why I get so hooked to it everytime I listen to it, although it doesn't do that for its entirety which I'll talk about later.

The first section of this track closes at 0:31, and then immediatealy second section picks up which the theme first part closed at. It keeps the same intensity in it, adds its own touches to the tune with the trumpets ( yes if you listen closely, trumpets and horns are also there) which genuinely sound so amazing flowing with the rapid pace of music. The rapid violin and cello notes are what steals my heart away in this track. They just add so much intensity to this track that I have no words. This track with this intensity is what made me glued to the screen at so many moments where it played. Its such an amazing track and its so hard to find tracks like this that maintain its intensity for a decent length of it, at least in my opinion.

The 1:03 section shifts away from those rapid notes, but maintains its overall theme, and to a large extent similar intensity. The violins get included as the front instruments again at 1:17 bringing this entire second section of this track to a closure at 1:33, and after this the track shifts into more actiony sort of theme as I stated above.

It becomes kind of regular conclusive action themed music from 1:34 which is kind of like bringing its scenes to the final moments of action and towards a closure. Ofcourse there can be many ways this track can be edited to fit the scene, but generally this is what I feel to be the pace of this track to be. This section again focusses really nicely on the orchestral composition with those violins and cellos standing as highight backed by great small violin notes, trumpets and drum beats. Still stands as a great composition in this part.

The track then finally starts going into its closure from 2:20 and quickly finishes at 2:32. Not much of an epilogue in it, but truthfully this track doesn't need it given the kind of track this is. The first two sections still stand as the highlight of this track for me, and genuinely one of the most intense music sections I have ever heard, and probably the first one that I have seen that builds up on the best start a lot more, and on top of it doesn't fail at that.

Truly a masterpiece in my opinion!

Hiroaki Tsutsumi - Beginning [ Dr. Stone ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-10-03 | Personally this is my favourite show based theme from Dr. Stone. There were a few others that set the general the base theme for a few other tracks from the show like Stone World, but they did not grab me as much as this "Beginning" and other themes based off of this like "Win as One".

The track starts by almost directly jumping into the heat of the music. It has a small prelude from start 0:00 to 0:15 where it quickly builds up to the main theme. The main instrument I am not able to guess what it might be, maybe a dampened vibraphone, or maybe some other Latin instrument, but its quite nice and sets a nice tribal kind of theme. The cymbals and probably Tambourine in the background add a nice flourish to it. The drums slowly start at 0:07 with some of those tribal like vocals starting at 0:12 and everything goes full throttle by the 0:15 mark playing the main kick of the music right in the start. The vocals, drums, violins, trumpets all make a really good theme, which quickly ends at 0:30.

The track then goes back down again and this time goes into a really good build up mode. The part from 0:30 to 0:45 is very similar the the 0:00 to 0:15 part. The 0:45 part is an entirely piano part which plays the similar theme which was played in the part just before it, however adding its own touch when ending that piano section at 0:55 to 0:57. I have definitely heard this part piano plays at its ending multiple times in the show with senku's scenes. The nice short piano section which ends at 0:59. After 0:59 is a small flute section which again plays the same music. One interesting part about all these 3 sections that played similar tune, was that they all ended with their own touch. The first part 0:30 to 0:45 just continued that theme did not really ending its section, but immediately jumps to the next piano section, which ends with its own touch as I talked above. And then the flute section starts which ends at 1:14 again in its own way, but as a sort of conclusion for all the 3 sections which was quite nice. Also just before starting the flute part, the violins take up (along with vocals) to move on to the next section which was a really good transition in my opinion.

And then there is a small section with I think horns, trumpets violins and drums. Its sort of like a victory theme at that section which starts at 1:14 with the brass family. The track goes back to building up to its main theme at 1:40. The tune this time is a little different with this prelude having many more instruments like drums and violins and other instruments that were in the 0:00 to 0:15 section. The track then starts its initial vocals and main theme from 1:51 and then rest of the time is same as the 0:15 section. This theme is really good sounding as I said before, loved this section a lot.
The track then quickly finishes off with a small ending flute violin and drums section.

A great theme overall. The main section and even the overall theme of this track is definitely more towards the victory side, counteracting a little with its name "Beginning" haha.

Hiroaki Tsutsumi - Memories [ Dr. Stone ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-09-19 | This track is my absolute favourite track from Dr.Stone. The amount of heaviness and and emotions in this track is just so representative of my favourite arc of Dr.Stone (the arc of Senku's Father).

The instruments and their music flow so well throughout this entire track, it just became an instant notice for me, and while I did not find many tracks that I loved a lot in Dr.Stone, this was the one track that I knew I wanted to listen to after I finish the show. I marked this track at multiple episodes because honestly this was the only one track that really caught a lot of my attention than any other track.
The track starts off very slowly with a small high pitched sound accompanied by a piano section upto 0:21. It sets of a nice, but a generic atmosphere that could be of any sort, like ambient, emotional etc. The piano tune also is not really something that has a very nice melody to it in that part, and all just feels generic upto 0:21 mark.
However right from 0:21, the track picks off a lot for a short time, setting up and confirming that emotional atmosphere. The cymbals start the section at 0:21 with a deep bass coming in. That was a really amazing pick up. Its not something unheard of before, but yeah it almost always sounds nice in many cases. Right at that bass kicking in, the trumpets and piano also come in, but its mainly the trumpets for the first few seconds up to 0:26. And man that sound so amazing. That small section with cymbals bass and trumpet is really what elevates this track so much for me. That trumpet section feels so powerful with that very static high pitched sound in the background and the bass.
After 0:26 the cellos can be heard more clearly and all the instruments, mainly piano, violins pick up the track from there, but for a short time, up to 0:43. There's a small cello and piano section starting from 0:43 to 1:01 which also adds a good amount of heaviness and sadness to this track. In this cello part, the track really goes into a more silent more with that high pitched tone in the background disappearing. That high pitched tone removal was such a great move, as we have been hearing that tone right from the start very extensively, removing that makes it feel like a major part of the track has been lost, and this really speaks volumes about emotional aspect of this track, signifying something taken away from someone.

The track then continues slowly from 1:02 setting up a really nice transition upto the next major and definitely my favourite part of the entire soundtrack. The transition phase flows really nicely into the next major part of the track starting at 1:28. The pianos start picking up at 1:23 for that next part, And when that part comes in, everything just flows and sounds so perfect. The start with the cymbals begin the next phase with those violins cellos, a deep bass, pianos and trumpets. Almost all instruments are present in this part and really make a sad and heavy atmosphere. The violin melody is extremely amazing. The tune is just perfect and screams of emotions throughout. The entire atmosphere is just heavy at this point, and is definitely the best section of the track. The entire section is good, but even in this, 1:52 to 2:14 is just the piece of cake for me. Again the cymbals begin this 1:52 section but the violin tune is just amazing to hear for me, especially the way it ends at 2:10. That small 2:08 to 2:10 section of violin really close it very well. The entire section ends at around 2:20 and then its just the closing of the track. The track picks up once more for a short time at 2:27 but that's just for closing it.

All in all, a really amazing emotional track in my opinion. All the instruments really were amazing in this and the cello and violin tunes were very touching. Absolutely loved this track.

Maiko Iuchi - Me Whereabouts [ Akudama Drive ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-07-25 | Akudama drive did not have many tracks that caught my attention, and that includes the main theme as well even though it was a pretty fitting and unique track I have heard. There are some channel related updates I want to give later in the description too.

This track, "Me Whereabouts" was the first track that caught my attention in the show in the third episode. The name of the track is in fact very fitting with the theme of the show and the scenes it played. Although I wouldn't say its a really top of the line track, it still sits in the "nice track" category for me. The piano composition is really nice but there is another instrument there which adds a little ambience to the track, not sure what instrument that is though.

The track starts off slow and steady setting up the atmosphere. Its not really a catchy start, but it serves really well to establish the further tune of the track. The main highlight of the track is definitely 0:45 for me. The piano tune is really melodious and very sweet to listen to in the entire section from 0:45 to 1:20. This entire section for me is the best part in the entire track, and to be honest this is the only part that is really meant to grab attention. When you listen to 0:00 to 0:35, it serves as an intro part setting the theme. The part after 1:25 serves as closing of the track. It definitely shifts a little from the kind of atmosphere that was there previously but not too hampering so I feel it to be fine. This track is one I feel to be of perfect length, with the perfect time given to each section as well as the highlight portion considering how this track is a bit more on the ambient and sad side.

That would be all I have to say for this track, since it is a pretty simple and sweet one. There are a few more tracks from this show I have saved with me, but I have yet to think whether I want them to be kept as the main upload or just as side ones.

---Channel update time---
Been some time I did this.
1) Anyway, I have been getting a lot of content ID claims and most of them just entirely block the video out of viewing. So in case you had some playlist saved from this channel, you might notice a lot of tracks have become blocked. Nothing I can do about it, so sorry. In general most of the tracks are from Fate series, Sword Art Online and Katsugeki Touken Ranbu (Sony Music Entertainment (SME) going Ham on content ID).
2) The poll I did some time back got 150 votes (much higher than I was expecting tbh so thanks everyone !). But the votes are not in majority in any of the sections. 44% on the highest for uploading tracks apart from anime soundtracks is still not in the majority so I can't really claim it as that. Yoshiaki Dewa - Soshite, Ai [ Nagi no Asukara / A lull in the Sea ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-05-30 | I know I originally said there would be 3 uploads, but it was after the first upload that I noticed this song as well, and decided to keep this as the weekly upload too.

This track, like Surinukeri Kokoro, gives a really good amount of time building up to the main part. Throughout the track it slowly builds up on the intensity and desperation feelings. Its a really good "Shock" moments type of track in my opinion, slowly building up to that moment and then in an instant hits you hard. One really good aspect of this track are the those female vocal sounds. They are really charming in the start, but at the end intense moment they really add up to the intensity. There appear to be some sort of words in the middle of the track in those vocals, but I am not sure if there actually are any lyrics or not.

The track starts off right with those rapid piano notes. And the way they are played, makes it feel like there's a second layer behind those main rapid piano notes. This second layer slowly comes in and kind of slowly desyncs from the main piano tune of the start. You can start hearing those second layer notes from ardoun 0:09 and the desync becomes much more apparent around 0:25 as this prologue of the track ends, and then at at 0:46 those front main notes end. Its a pretty unique thing which I can't recall if I have heard before, quite a nice way with piano.
Once this part almost ends, at 0:55 the cellos are added adding a bit more of a depth to the track with their slow, low pitch and heaviness. The pianos quite soon pick up after that and the track more or less follows a similar pattern. The vocals at this place also come more on the front line.

At 1:26 the violins also come in playing a steady tune as well as a nice tune at 1:35 with that slight tune played along side the steady notes. At 1:45, the vocals seem to change pace to sing some sort of lyrics, but as I said before, am not sure whether these actually are japanese or any other language or not. However, it is at this part that the track starts picking up phase. This 1:45 to 2:04 part feels to be like that of a transition to the main tune. Its devoid of any cellos or violins, only vocals and the pianos in the background till 2:04. At 2:04, the violins and cellos are added back and this time the track really quicly starts picking up pace. From 2:13, the violins become more apparent and there are those very short violin (or cello) notes in the background recurring at regular intervals. I really like this way of changing the phase. The vocals remain consistent with the previous parts and kind of lyrics if any, till 2:32. The entire track goes into its final piece of intense music. A deep bass is added to the track for those heavy emotions and there is a change of violin and cello notes really complementing the overall heaviness and emotional feeling in the atmosphere really really well. The pianos themselves become very rapid adding to the "desperation" feeling as well as intensity of the situation. The vocals also change their flow into, well something that adds more sadness and emotion to the track but not exactly something I can describe. If anything, I really loved the vocals at this part much more than I did in any other part. They are just beautiful at this section.

The track is quite long compared to the main section near the end, however its not something I disliked. It flows really well throughout and the music is just lovely with its intensity near the end breathtaking. Truly an amazing piece.

Yoshiaki Dewa - Uroko Sama no Monogatari [ Nagi no Asukara ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-05-23 | This is definitely my favourite track from the entire show, and surprisingly, it was a track that I almost did not notice in the show if I had not gone back to rewatch the scene.

It was just total luck that I actually went back to the scene to read the subtitles again and I noticed this track. The scene itself was extremely amazing and I was so engrossed in the show that I never noticed anything else that might have been going on.
Soon as I noticed this track, at first I was like this is a fair track. I and probably many other people could hear a resemblance between this track's first half and witcher 3's track called kaer morhen. However the second half of the track was so good, I genuinely got goosebumps at the second half with that piano tune. While this track also has a fair contrast between the first and second half, this time however I feel a sense of continuity in the track which does not make it seem like two different tracks. The overall atmosphere is very well maintained throughout the first half, the middle transition and the second half.

The track starts off with some really nice and melodious guitar notes, with I think some Chinese string instrument ( I guess pipa ) supporting it in the background. Both go really well together and make a really nice sort of a medieval theme which goes really nice with the story being told at the time it was played in the show (especially in the last episode where the background of this video is also from). The tune is very soothing and quite straightforward with no sort of over the top complexities. Just a simple and very calming and melodious tune.
At 0:44, another instrument is added to the same tune adding a different sort of variation to the tune. I think its from the xylophone family, i am guessing a marimba but not sure.

This new instrument only comes in for a short while upto 1:09 and then the track shifts into a sort of a middle part or as I like to call it a transition phase. The track still has that acoustic guitar in the background, but this time very much dampened and muffled. Also piano is added in this part, which is why I call it a transition part as it has the elements of the previous tune, as well as the tune after it playing together in a really nice and soft manner. The tune however is different from both the first part and the coming part, but in no way incoherent. Its very subtle and complements the atmosphere really nicely.

This transition part ends at 1:37 and oh boy the actual best part of the track starts off at this time. I genuinely have no words how much I absolutely loved this part of the track in that scene in the last episode. This was also the reason I never probably noticed the track was because the first half of the track was something that was nice but not really that grabbing for me. The scene in the show was so grabbing that I probably never really got to notice the change in the track in background. I genuinely wholeheartedly love this second half of the track so much. The guitar plays the prelude to the main tune of the second half extremely well not to mention those very very soft and almost quiet violins in the background that complement the guitar and the entire second half.
I absolutely love these sort of small parts of tune being placed out apart from each other. What I mean by this is from 1:37 you can see the music come, and then it takes a pause for a second, and then the tune continues again. Its like sort small bursts of guitar where it plays the small section, then pauses for a second, then continues. I absolutely fell for this.

Not to mention when the track goes into the main tune of the second half at 2:01, absolutely marvelous. The piano tune is so soft and soothing and very emotional. The guitar in the background is so amazing and if you notice it more, you will realize the guitars are actually playing the tune they played in the first half. Absolutely no words for those soft violins complementing the emotional atmosphere so well. Definitely the piano tune will be the highlight, but I can definitely say all the instruments in this main part have an equally important role and absolutely nothing feels out of place.

That very small transition from the prelude of the second half to the main tune from 1:58 to 2:01 was also really really nice with that piano taking it up from that time and going into the main theme. Whats even better is how the track goes up a notch at 2:25 with that piano run from high to low notes. And at last, if listened closely, there is also another instrument, very very faint in the background with a sort of sound that I am not sure is out of which instrument, but its kind of rapid and probably can be heard at little more clearly 2:46 onwards before the closing piano.

I absolutely love this track.

Zentaro Watanabe - Surinukeri Kokoro [ Nagi no Asukara / A lull in the sea ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-05-16 | Ah I love this track a lot. This track was something that I noticed in the first episode itself, but I wasn't much thoughtful about the track. It was in the second time that this track played that I actually noticed this properly and repeated the scene to listen to this. At that time, I totally fell in love with this track even though I had one qualm with this at one part of it. That part has always kind of irked me and feels kind of feeling breaking. Will talk about that a bit later.

The track starts off with some nice, little emotional and soft solo piano acting as a prelude to the main music. Then at 0:26 the track actually starts with its main composition with those nice and soft violins and cellos in the background. I quite like this particular tune a lot, and love the fact that the track really develops on this tune going forward with it. The tune makes a really nice emotional atmosphere with these initial violins and slow paced music. The track remains in this sort of prelude phase in the first half of it.

After the 0:26 part, at 0:51 the previous part's violin and cello tune continues but this time with addition of the piano that was silent in the 0:26 part. Many tracks that do this do it really well, this addition of instruments one by one in the track, and this track also does it really nicely all the time maintining the main tune and the atmosphere.

After the 0:51 part finishes at 1:16 the track quickly starts picking up really powerfully. An instant feeling of intenseness can be felt from 1:16 when those rapid cello notes are added. Those rapid notes quickly add a lot of depth this track was developing on throughout its first half upoto 1:16. The pickup is quite quick from then and the track within a few seconds at 1:29 goes into its final flow. The pianos pick up their pace, the cellos start their own backing quickly changing music pace and the violins start the piece of music in this. From 1:29, the tune that violins produce is a higher pitched and a bit faster version of the same tune at 0:26, but at 1:40 the tune is a new one. This new part genuinely was so amazing to hear, it feels like a part that actually completes that particular tune whereas the previous parts were just developing on it. Not to mention these swaying violins have a really sort of heavy sadness and intensity in them which is extremely amazing.
One big part of this track are those cellos in the background from 1:29. If you listen to the track a bit loudly at that part, if you can make out the cellos behind the violins, you will notice the cello tune is different from how it was in 1:16 part. At 1:16 they were more of static, and quickly repeating notes. Here the cello notes variate themsevles while maintaining an even quicker pace of repeating. They don't produce a flowing music but more broken into different but quickly repeating notes. The variating notes of the cello really a a lot of intensity to it. Another important part were those muffled drums. Previously I thought its kind of weird having muffled drums, but to be honest when I imagine this track with non muffled drums, I actually feel that keeping them muffled was probably the best idea. This muffled sound is not as punchy as a normal drum bass and goes really well with the tune which is more oriented towards heavy emotional side.

The track enters its closure phase at 1:54 which is just a soft melody of violins and cellos, which is definitely quite nice acting as a closure.

Overall this track is a really solid composition no doubt, but one issue which I had with this track which I talked a little in the start is the little transition to the 1:29 part that starts at 1:22. The part from 1:22 to 1:27 is something that doesn't fit the flow of this track for me. From start to the end this track maintains a really good melody, but it was at that transition I always feel irked. For some reason, It just doesn't fit the track for me and every time I a listen to this track (i do listen quite a bit to this) its always that part that takes me off the flow. Its very rare to have a non fitting tune in the track, but this time its something I definitely notice really easily. These few seconds are the only downside of this track I really notice. While only for a few seconds, it still does kind of break the immersion.

But keeping that aside this track definitely is a gem for me. The next week's track however is my favourite track from this show and I love it a lot so stay tuned for it haha.

Yoshiaki Dewa - Densetsu [ Nagi no Asukara / A lull in the Sea ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-05-09 | Finally! After so long I actually have a new weekly upload to present to you all haha.
Its been so long, I was getting bored myself of doing these filler uploads for so many weeks~

But anyway, at least for the next two weeks (i.e. two more uploads) I have some great content to share with you all from this show Nagi no Asukara (or A lull in the sea).

Starting with todays upload, the track is "Densetsu" or in english "A legend", with legend as in a story.
This track is the first track that got my attention in the show, right in the first half of first episode itself. Truthfully speaking, when taking into account this entire track, it is more or less not any better than many other tracks in the show (Almost all the tracks are really good in the show and fit the scenario very very well), however the reason this is a weekly upload is because of a small section of this track. As I said almost all the tracks of this show were very fitting and great, but this track had something that made me genuinely go wow. My favourite section of this track which made me immediately want to share this with you all starts from 0:28. I think it is a vibraphone sound, or some similar instrument from xylophone family. The melody is so magical, I have no words. I really, genuinely wish that this tune itself was a separate track, where the entire track was based off of this tune.
Right when this tune played in the show, all my attention immediately went to this, it was such a grabbing tune. The tune also very well fits the scenes it played once you know the story.

When just talking about the vibraphone tune from 0:28 to 0:41, the feelings are so heavy. Its filled with loneliness and sadness. This is exactly what brings me to the next point where my problem lies with this track. When you look at the second half of the track and compare it to the first half (including the starting of the track, not just the vibraphone tune), there are two distinct feelings in those parts. Distinct might not be a proper word, but the two feelings are a bit different in those parts, which is why I said I would have genuinely preferred there were actaully two tracks from this. From 0:59 (which is what i am referring to second half) the track shifts its tune into more of a "everyday life" kind of theme. I know its not exactly different and can be a continuation of the feeling, but still I feel there to be a material difference.

With this said, I might have probably given more of my negative thoughts about this track, however that is not the case. I truly like this track a lot, even its second half, but second half would be a tad bit lower than the first though :p
The flute part starting at 0:59 with those short violin notes sound really nice giving that nice "Village life" kind of vibe in it. Even the following part after that at 1:12, I think a glockenspiel which produced a similar tune as the flute part but more silent and with very faint strings in the background also made a really nice atmosphere and continued the previous one really nicely. The entire track after that with the violins and strings was overall really good.

The highlight, and the reason for this track being a weekly upload will however remain the 0:28 part. I loved that part way more than I can describe in this description, and I hope its something to your tastes too!
There are even better and genuinely very amazing tracks lined up from this show, this was just a very small start for the great tracks ahead.

The background selection was also very hard for me due to the reasons I stated above for which I wanted there to be two tracks. I then went ahead and selected one that I found really fitting for the first half of the track

Mark Mancina - Sayas Loneliness (Short ver.) [ Blood+ ] [ SP ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-04-30 | Another short and really melodious composition. This is quite similar to the one that I had uploaded previously as main weekly upload which was named "Saya's Joy".

This is a short version of the entire track, near the end of it. The rest of the track is not bad, but I feel the contrast is a bit high between the feelings of both parts of the track. This last section is very much focussed on making a heavy and emotional atmosphere, while the initial part of the track feels more on the lines of making a mystery. And to be honest, from entire blood+, this tune is my favourite.

I absolutely deeply love this tune. Its honestly just so good to hear every time I listen to it. The inital part is very soft and does a really great job at making a sad atmosphere. Then the orchestra starts making the same tune but adding a lot of depth with those violins and cellos to it. The piano in the background during the orchestral part also adds so much with its slow and low notes at really perfect moments. This entire ending part of the track just steals the cake from the entire track.

In the middle of the starting buildup of this track, there is a sort of woodwind instrument at around 0:23, I am guessing a bassoon, but not really sure. The sound of it stands so different from the violins and yet it sounds so amazing throughout the initial buildup. My favourite section is a very small part of the track right before the end, starts at 1:04. That small composition for the ending in continuation with the previous orchestra is just so darn amazing to hear.

Yuki Kajiura - For your Pain [ Boku Dake ga Inai Machi ] [ SP ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-04-20 | Boku dake ga inai machi had a really nice overall soundtrack composition. Many tracks went really good with the show and this is something I appreciate now even more than I did before.

It has been a very long time since I listened to Erased's soundtracks, and when I was looking for something to upload as SP and listened to this, I was so reminded of the overall vibe of Erased. Loneliness and sadness describe this track very well. The music is so tender and soft, the music has such a nice tune, this track is overall quite good. The track also follows its overall tune nicely and develops on mostly one tune throughout. It does not change pace or shifts to other direction, just follows one soft and simple tune throughout, which even after that does not feel repetitive and also does not extend itself too long.

The instrument sounds like something from xylophone family, but it might also have something like kalimba considering those clicky like sounds. The overall track just screams of Yuki Kaijura's style as the instruments and how the entire track is arranged is very similar to some of the tracks from other works of Kajiura, like from Sword Art Online.

PS: I know there was no upload last week, It was a busy week for me with work and I just wanted to relax on the weekend :P

Hiroyuki Sawano - XL-TT (Short ver.) [ Attack on Titan ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-04-11 | In the past, I have never really uploaded many tracks from attack on titan, at least from the first season.I do value the tracks highly, but the reason for it was because the show was fairly popular and anything I would have uploaded would most likely be something people would have already listened. Back then, I had a plethora of other, more less popular but quite good tracks to upload and due to that, I decided that I would only just stick to very few attack on titan uploads.
I was just going through what to upload the last few weekdays and realized that fair amount of AOT tracks are pending. Since I am just doing many filler uploads now-a-days anyway, I thought it might be a good chance to get these ones out as well.

Coming to the track, this track has a mix of different emotions in different parts. For example, the first part from the start of the track with those heavy drums, choir, church bells, and violins represent feeling of "urgency" and "sense of danger" quite nice. If I remember correctly, this part played when the female titan was chasing the scouts in the second half of first season. And to be honest, this first part is my favourite in the entire track. On top of it being very fitting for the background music, the beats are also quite catchy with that choir.
The small variations in the same tune are quite nice and really enhance the overall atmosphere this track generates. Like at 0:22 those violins picks up their pace, and the beats slow down a little in the background, and then beats come back but pace of violins remain the same. These sort of variations really fit the changing scenes where this track plays. Its like, even with the "Sense of danger" kind of feeling this track gives, there are different levels of that feeling that different parts of this track portray. Some are higher level, other are lower level.
For some reason, there is some sort of, well, at least "unique" tune in the middle of the this first part. I am not sure if I'd say its nice. It just feels..different..disjointed. But since its small, its fine i guess~

The first part, I'd say takes a break at 1:37 and another tune takes its place for a short time, which is more on the emotional side of the track. Its quite short, so it doesn't fit right to call it a "part", but it again represents those variations that I talked about. The track doesn't stay static at one type throughout and keeps giving different themes. This thing is nice, but as with many tracks from Sawano, the entire track is usually many tracks combined as I have said in the past in many of his tracks I have uploaded lol. It's rare to find a track that one can actually call "one track" when listening to his music. So many tracks do need some cropping.

Anyway, after that small break in the middle, the track goes back to its original theme and continues on for a few more seconds. The ending of this track is, something I would call fair. Not my favourite, but not bad either.

Yutaka Yamada - A given [ Babylon ] [ EP ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-04-03 | A huge shoutout this time to ivy from discord for showing me this track last year. When Ivy shared this last year, I liked this track so much at that time that I added this show to my plan to watch.
This is truly an amazing track that went really well with the show. Contrary to the general opinion of this show, I personally liked the show quite a lot too. Since it is dark, its not something I would advice anyone to watch easily, but the show was really superb.

The track I believe is mostly a theme for Ai Magase, a character from this show. There are 3 main parts to this track (well maybe 4 but i'll consider 3 main parts). First is the one that the track immediately starts with, it is those rapid violin notes. For the most part, this tune can also be called like the baseline of the track upon which other parts are added or built on.
These notes are also one of the most important part of the track that really make a mysterious atmosphere. Considering what this track generally portrayed in the show which is a mysterious, and also eerie atmosphere, these tunes are really great. On this tune, different layers of violins and cellos are added, like at 0:42 with that slow violin.
At 1:03, the base tune remains the same but the track really picks up extremely greatly with those deep drum bass, a more high pitched violin tune and if you listen closely another layer of violin (I think) that is soft and plays a constant note variation at regular intervals (can be heard at 1:03, 1:05, 1:07 etc repeating). However I wouldn't call this the second main part. This part is really good, no doubt in that, but the part that really checks this track out as amazing is the one that happens after this pickup at 1:03.

The truly marvelous part of the track starts building up at 1:28 and with a really short but perfect prologue for the second main part which stars at 1:33. In that time from 1:28 to 1:33, in just 6 seconds, the violins and cellos make such a great buildup leading to the main tune, it was genuinely amazing to hear. And when the 1:33 part comes, oh god this track really reaches great heights. That part, not only sounds great, but also shifts the atmosphere of the track to a bit more on the emotional side as well. Not too much of a shift, just a subtle change. But the orchestral tune of violins and cellos is just so great to hear, I have found myself listening to that again and again a lot. The overall composition sounds so great with those rapid base violin notes in the background and those slow and heavy orchestra on top of it.

After this section, the track slowly goes down, with just those rapid violin notes, and then soon after even they move away and the track totally goes more on the silent side. A piano composition takes its place. I'll not lie, I did not listen to this part much. Its kind of like an interlude between the two halves of the track. The track however slowly starts picking up again quite soon at 2:56 with those rapid violin notes coming back, however more faint this time, which is actually kind of nice as they just slowly back this part up, and not cause a mix between two completely different sections. There is just a small section that however sounds quite nice in this part, at 3:11. The piano tune is quite nice sounding in that with those short fast cymbal~ish sounds in the background.

The track once again starts picking up with its original tune at 3:57. The overall tune remains the same, but this time, once this similar tune section finishes off, the track goes into its third main part. This main part starts at 4:57 and is the one that heavily focuses on the main orchestral composition that we heard in the second main part in the early stages of the track. And I am really glad this part is present, because the orchestral tune was genuinely marvelous to hear in that second part of this track. The really faint rapid violin tune again does the job really nicely by not mixing up the different atmospheres in this stage. With this orchestral only part, the tracks overall atmosphere really shifts to more on the emotional side. And this is a genuinely beautiful part because the sadness that these orchestral tunes portray is just heart touching. My only wish was that this part was a bit longer. Its also really nice that the track doesn't really leave this orchestral composition, and just combines this to make the same tune that played in the second main part at 1:33.

Overall I absolutely love this track. True there are sections like the middle interlude one, that does kinda go a bit longer than I would appreciate, but still considering the rest of the track, I can look over it. I really hope you all like this track as much as I do.

Coming to the effects, the general part of the video does not have any effect, because I wanted to focus on the small orchestral section near the end of the track and added some stuff to that.

Kunihiko Ryo - Akatsuki no yona ( Melancholy Ver. ) [ Akatsuki no Yona ][ SP ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-03-26 | This is a nice, sweet and calm rendition of what I would say is the main theme of Akatsuki no yona.

I had uploaded a similar track before from yona, called "Legends of the Four Dragons" so if this track feels like something you have heard before on the channel, then it might be that track.
Both the tracks are fairly similar in the tunes they follow, its just both use different instruments and portray a little different atmosphere. Legend of the Four dragons was a better track than this in my opinion, and that is the reason why that track was the main weekly upload, and I decided to keep this as some side midweek upload.

The main theme tune is one that is good to hear. Its not the best of the tracks, its one of those nice ones. The harp is very pleasant to hear, and the clarinet (or oboe or some similar instrument) in the latter part at 1:00 also really nicely produces the tune. The slow and faint violins/cellos in the background complement the atmosphere nicely too.

There isn't much I have with which I can describe this track, since I don't have a strong attachment to this track. But well, at least I am able to push some nice things out till I find more great ones.
PS: I planned to get this on the channel by around tue/wed this week, but got loaded with work.

Epic Anime OST 2021-03-17 | This one's not a super great track, its one of those "nice enough" kind of tracks.

I noticed this track during the last episode of bungou stray dogs season 2. The chorus part ( example 0:56 ) of the track is the main attaraction for me in this. The vocals sound really nice in that chorus. It does tend to lean towards being an emotional track, but its solely not focussed on that feeling. It also has that sort of "satisfaction" feeling to it, which kinda fit the scene where it played.

The background instrumentals are also nothing too spectacular, they complement the vocals nicely, but they definitely are good at the chorus part. The piano violins and I think its a harp do stand out most of the time, especially during the chorus part. The start of the chorus for me has a really great instruental pickup in my opinion, the way those harps lead the melody and violins and pianos pick up right after it is kind of catchy to listen to.

PS: The track that I was going to upload turned out to be copyrighted and blocked worldwide, so I had to go ahead and find another track to be uploaded. This track was anyways lined up after that.

Satoru Kosaki (ft Haruka Tomatsu) - Monochrome ~ version de lapprivoiser [ Star Driver ] [ EP ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-02-28 | This song is so beautiful, there are no words with me to truly portray my feelings for it.

I want to give a big shoutout to taffy from discord who shared this track to me (a very long time back) and I liked it so much at that time that I decided to give a watch to this show, regardless of how unpopular average reviewed it was. The show was much much better than I expected, in fact it was one of the better shows than the rest that I had watched in some time.

Right in the first episode this track hits the watcher, and right at the start of this track, the singer's voice grabbed me. But at that time I did not know I was in such a big treat (it had been quite some time since I listened to this after taffy shared so I forgot most of it). As the track built up to the chorus, and the instruments came in the back, I just could not focus on the show, not at all. I just made a notepad mark at this timestamp and tried to focus on the episode. As the song progressed, I knew that what I found was not something good, it was a diamond.
I was so mesmerized, awestruck, shaken by this track, right when the episode ended, I searched for the the soundtrack and downloaded it (the cover image of the disc spoiled the show a little for me but worth it). Even though I had not finished the show, or even progressed much in the story, there was not a single day I did not listen to this track. It was basically an addiction to this track at that point.

I know last week I made a post saying how I had no tracks, but after that I started this show and well the show was so good, I ended up finishing it in a week. In fact, I finished this show yesterday itself and today being sunday, I decided to get this track out.

Anyway, enough talk about the show, I'll now talk about the track itself.

First of all, the vocals are out of this world. The singer extremely proficiently got out the sadness and hope that is there in this track. It was perfect if you ask me, the feeling and the heaviness that we get from the vocals. The lyrics on top of it are astonishing. They are very beautiful once you know the meaning of them, and they also nicely fit the show's theme greatly.
Those straight and long stretched vocals, for example at 1:05 when she says yuuki, are soo intense, my god. The best part is this song does not deviate from a set line of music, which I am very grateful for because I genuinely feel how this is is actually just perfect.
I totally feel a sort of heavy weight on my chest throughout the track. It is even more at the line "Kanashimi ni nureta tsubasa" at 0:54. The way vocals slightly go into a deeper tone and the background music also slightly lowers a little makes the overall atmosphere so heavy, it just impacts me a lot. Its extremely rare to find tracks as great as this that just hit me so hard making me almost breathless.
I have nothing but just praise.

But vocals are not the only thing, the background instrumentals are nothing less than a spectacle in this track. Its not just the vocals that carry this track, its an equal effect of both background instruments and vocals. The orchestral composition is just a beauty and absolutely portrays the sadness perfectly. The violins, drums, horns, trumpets the orchestral cymbals, everything are so magnificently put together throughout the song, any amount of praise is less for this.
The instrumental is perfectly stitched with different parts of the tracks. There is no incoherency between them. For example, at the 0:38 part, the instrumentals are slow, and then at 0:54, there is a small shift with addition of specific violin tunes, but it is extremely subtle and is perfectly matched with the change of vocals all the while keeping the same atmosphere, just enhancing it. Then the chorus instrumentals come at 1:11 with those great cymbals and horns added, and at 1:21 you can hear a great small trumpet section which went so well for that short time. The main chorus instrumentals at 1:28 involve everything and if I have to talk about one thing in that part, it would definitely be those violins (or cellos). Those small and fast notes are extremely good to hear.

I can go on and on about how well this track fit the show, but I have to draw the line somewhere so I'll stop here.

This video took a lot of time to put together because I could not find a good background, so had to search the show to find something good. Then for the effects, it was the ground effect that took the longest amount of time, with those type of circuit lines. The ground effect is hard to notice, but I still wanted to do it, kind of as a challenge. Its not that great to be honest, but I still learned something. The subtitling is done by me, and I took the liberty to modify the english subtitles a little to fit it more while keeping meaning same.
Anyway, thanks for watching, I hope you like this track as much as I did.

Yutaka Yamada - Horizon [ Tokyo Ghoul :re ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-02-21 | This is another new track addition to tg:re that I liked. It has a sad and heavy atmosphere throughout the track which I pretty well made in my opinion.

Unfortunately this is the only other new track that I liked a bit throughout the third season. I'd still say the smaller part of phase shift was better than any of the newly added tracks.
Anyway coming to this track, the violins and cello sounds go pretty nicely together to set the overall atmosphere. There is no like chorus or repeating great tune in this track, it all moves together slowly and steadily. If I were to say what my favourite section would be in this track, it would be from 0:53 to 1:37. Those slow cellos sounded really nice and then the violin variation at 1:15 added a really nice touch to the end of this section.

There isn't much else for me to say about this track, as its a pretty to point track. Finding a background for this track was a nightmare, I just gave up and selected from a very few choices I made which I thought fits at least a little.

Yutaka Yamada - Phase Shift (Short Ver.) [ Tokyo Ghoul :re ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-02-14 | As great as tokyo ghoul s1 and s2 soundtracks were, tokyo ghoul :re unfortunately did not come close in terms of soundtracks, nowhere near.

Sure those new licht und schatten versions were nice additions, and sounded good, but they weren't as amazing as the original ( the comparison is wrong I know, but still ). There were so many great tracks in original tokyo ghoul, best being licht und schatten, followed by great ones like auferstehung, schopfer, kreig, but unfortunately the new additions in tokyo ghoul re were not up to that mark. The focus on re was more on vocal tracks, which do not hit that mark for me many times.

Coming to the tracks in :re, I do not plan on uploading many, and truthfully if you have read the description upto here, you probably already know what the other track is/are going to be.

From the new track additions in this season, I'd say my favourite would be this part phase shift, even though when it comes to the full track, its hardly something I would listen to. The full track is well, a mix of a lot of things (something similar to how Hiroyuki Sawano releases his tracks) and those lot of things are not something I would probably ever listen to. This tune however is different, almost all the moments in the show this tune played, it always caught my attention because of the 0:39 tune. The full track was hardly ever used in the show, or even if it was I don't think it caught my attention at all, only thing I remember listening to multiple times in the show is the 0:39 part. It genuinely sounds pretty amazing, for such a short tune, and I wish it was kind of longer or was developed more as I believe it could have turned out even better.
The rest of this short track is fair, nothing amazing but fair and I'd say kind of builds up to that main tune at the end finely. Most of the track is simple piano with sustaining notes so there isn't much for me to talk about. The short sneak of the main tune at the at at 0:10 was also really nice and I believe that is probably why I think its kind of a buildup to that.

I wish this track was a separate track and not mixed in with, what I think, other tracks. All these long tracks honestly made it a nightmare for me to find tracks, especially this one.

Masaru Yokoyama - Aye, Yeah! [ Kanata no Astra ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-02-07 | This track is also based on the main theme of the show that I uploaded previously but takes on a more lighthearted approach.

This track rightfully portrays the "Accomplishment" feeling I talked about in the last track "Ultrafast Engine". That track was more of a serious atmosphere, whereas this one is more lighthearted. There are also some changes to the tune of main theme, as in it does not strictly follows that. It starts off with a similar tune but then as it progresses changes the different parts of the tune. Also considering the insturments used in this track, it makes it even harder to find resemblance with main theme at some parts.

It also has a very nice mix of instruments. The violins in the front play the main tune of the track, and then there are cellos or violins (hard for me to determien) in the background that play those short repeating bursts of the tune which can be heard at 0:16, and many times ahead. The drums are something special as these don't feel like regular drums to me, but something like congo played by hand. Also the acoustic guitar is also very nice. All these make the track more joyous rather than a powerful hitter. The tune is no doubt great.

Masaru Yokoyama - Ultrafast Engine [ Kanata no Astra ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-01-31 | This one is another main theme of a show that has been adapted into different versions for different parts of the show. But each version has a uniqueness to it in this show.

I feel this to be the best track from the show. Its a great theme that has a sense of danger and the feeling of accomplishment in it. Consequently there are two halves of this track, that cover those feelings, however this track is more focussed on the sense of danger feeling than accomplishment. The accomplishment feeling is more covered by another track that i'll be putting up in coming weeks.
The track starts of with very subtle cellos with some sort of chromatic percussion instrument along with it. Then the drums kick in and the cellos finally come in front with the theme of the track. The slow drums and cellos at 0:10 create a very nice and intense atmosphere buildup and at 0:34 the main intensity of the track starts. The 0:51 part is what I talked about having a little sense of accomplishment, but the track does not totally go into that, as the part from 1:15 onwards still maintains that sense of danger. The track has a really nice orchestral composition, which on top of being good is also kind of catchy. Its a type of track that gets the person hooked to it.

I remember this track was shared by another person on Discord, which I totally forgot when I was watching the show. I realized about that once I heard a similar tune to this when I was watching the first episode haha.

Kensuke Ushio - Boogiepop Overdrive - The King of distortion [ Boogiepop and Others ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-01-24 | So there was a choice in front of me, it was between uploading either microfilament or king of distortion. Both the tracks are equally amazing but I do not want the "general" theme to be uploaded multiple times as weekly uploads. I want to show you all different types of music, not repeating one same thing over and over again and this is actually the reason I started those SP uploads as well, although then the scope of SP was increased a bit.

I went ahead with this because it has a different feeling from the first track that I uploaded which is noticeable immediately. This is more of an orchestral type composition, a slower and more emotional version of the main theme. I do not know if this was actually composed with an orchestra or not, there are places where it feels like it was and others where it wasn't. Anyway that doesn't affect the impact of this theme in the last episode of the show. It was truly a piece to be heard with the scene itself giving such a great conclusion to that arc.

The tune is as I said, based on the main theme itself, but modified with different pacing, section lengths and instruments. It starts off much differently with slow cello sounds, and a fairly different buildup with the violins at 0:33. The 0:33 melody is extremely pleasant to hear and the tune is quite warming. It also transitions very nicely into 1:03 where the main theme is played. Its all quite nice, and a different atmosphere than the pumpy beats and electronic main theme. There are also some church bells when the theme comes to a closure at 2:37, giving it a sort of a divinity feeling. This is again something that is very goood to hear in the episode's end which kind of goes into a nice judgement mode.

Overall quite nice. Also this is the last weekly upload from boogiepop, next week new show!

Kensuke Ushio - The Principle [ Boogiepop wa Warawanai ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-01-17 | Ah this this is definitely my favourite throughout the anime. As I said in the previous video that I genuinely loved the soundtrack of this show a lot, and that there isn't much that I could criticize about it, I still loved this soundtrack more than others.

Ambient themes are the ones that pique me a lot because of how hard it is to make a theme that not only goes well as an ambient one, but also one that stands on its own as a great tune that one can listen to over and over again. This theme ticked all of the marks. When I first heard this theme in episode 10, it was an instant hook for me (the music I mean). It is an amazing mix of a huge variety of emotions. It has sadness, desperation, satisfaction, emotion, lack of time, and the most important one, conclusion. To truly feel this theme, it is essential to watch the scene in episode 10 (the background is also from that).
I usually don't say this, but genuinely this time I wanted this track to be longer. I definitely like the variations in the same melody that is done throughout the track, for example there is that main eerie sound with piano in the background which are slow in start, then pickup pace at 0:27 modifying that eerie sound a little in its tune. Then there is another change that follows the 0:52 transition upto 1:08 at which there is another small transition tune but the theme following it remains the same as the 0:52 transition one. This continues till 1:22 where there is a sudden shift in the pace of the background piano bringing the overall track back to a more slower rate. This change is also accompanied by that eerie sound which also changes in its tune more.
All this definitely is really good, but I really think a longer track with more changes would have just been more amazing. But yes, I have no complaints at all from this track, its just genuinely amazing. Whether it can truly be called ambient or not, is again a debatable topic but I prefer to refer it as ambient.

Kensuke Ushio - Boogiepop and others [ Boogiepop wa Warawanai ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-01-10 | Boogiepop had an outstanding soundtrack that complemented the show's eerie atmosphere really well.

This is the main theme (or one of the main theme) of the show and a few soundtracks revolve around the tune set by this track. This track was my instant favourite when I first heart it. Not many shows use this sort of electronic music. One that I can remember is Darker Than Black season 2 which used electronic music (and some of its tracks were really good, "No. 23" for example).

This track has a long, but really great buildup starting off slowly, and to some extent it even might be can ambient track upto like 30 second mark. The buildup has different parts where it goes up in pace and then settles back down. This kind of variation is pretty nice to hear. For example, from 0:31 it feels to be picking up at a good pace, and then when it reaches 1:02 it almost feels like now its gonna start but it goes down again, giving another ambient~ish music which is however the kind of like ambient version of main theme (Kind of, I wouldn't call this exactly ambient). This main melody continues and then picks up a lot within an instant at 1:33. Somee might even say this track has two buildups, one from start of the track upto 1 minute, then from 1 minute mark to 1:33, but in a general view, the entire segment before 1:33 feels like a buildup for that time. I absolutely love the tune at 1:49. That tune makes the entire buildup worth it (though the buildup itself has its own great charm).
The track then goes down and moves towards ending itself from 2:36 with another nice slow ambient~ish theme.

Boogiepop was a show that I never thought I would enjoy as much as I did. It truly is one of my most worthwhile shows watched in a long time, and probably the only twisted show that I understood fairly well. The soundtrack, openings and endings and everything in the show was absolutely on point for me. Truly a marvelous show.

Takahiro Obata - Emmas Determination [ Yakusoku no Neverland ]

Epic Anime OST 2021-01-03 | Another pretty nice soft and melodious track from Yakusoku no Neverland.

As I talked about in my previous upload (Isabella's Song/Isabella's Lullaby) about how many tracks in Yakusoku no Neverland had a small rendition of that song along with their own music, this one can very easily show what I meant. Honestly I did not plan on following up yakusoku no neverland after Isabella's Lullaby but I thought i'll just do one more which was this since it had a really nice tune in the start followed by isabella's lullaby rendition.
The start instrument is probably some type of string which I am not able to guess but the tune really sounds quite nice. The backing violins cellos and piano gave quite a nice overall positive atmosphere. Its the kind of track that fits the sort of "encouraging" feeling.

For the most part this track follows a same tune which changes later on, so I haven't got much to say about it. The overall feeling is maintained throughout the track with no mixups or changes to that atmosphere.

Takahiro Obata - Isabellas Song (Ft. Sarah Àlainn) [ Yakusoku no Neverland ] [ EP ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-12-27 | No other track in this show comes even near to this track, and this I believe I can say for the majority of people as well.

This track definitely stands along with other my all time favourites. Many other tracks from Yakusoku no Neverland had their own music but had a small section which contained a different rendition of a part of this track. This just shows how much this track had an importance in the show itself. This track goes really well with the desperate and sad atmosphere of the show, but also has a little tinge of happiness as well.

Coming to the composition, the track starts off slow and introduces vocals early on setting up an overall melody for the track. The harp in the start complements the vocals fairly nicely, but for me its definitely the cello that are just perfect in the background starting at around 0:35. The combination of cello and harp along with those beautiful vocals is absolutely amazing. There is absolutely no need to talk in detail about how amazing the female vocals are as it is fairly evident but I really wanted to talk about the instruments behind that.
The track then reaches the absolute height when its second half starts at 1:09. That little harp transition at 1:07 to 1:10 was really nice. Then when the part actually starts, oh god its just so beautiful. The vocals become powerful and the violins, cellos, harp and acoustic guitar were absolutely perfect in the background. The contribution from both vocals and background in the second half was equal. Its true vocals get more attention and its understandable considering how much they stand in the front, but the background was just equally melodious. The drums were also absolutely on point in adding the power punch of sadness to this track.

Now coming to the main part of video, its the background wallpaper. I definitely wouldn't have enjoyed making the video as much as I did if it wasn't for the background image. Generally I don't really talk much about the background but in this case I have to because of how genuinely amazing this wallpaper is. Unfortunately I was not able to find the original artist who made this, as the source from where I got only wrote "Republished with permission" but not the person who's permission was taken. I'll link the source from where I got it. The background was quite small so I upscaled it (using the AI tool called waifu2x) and the upscale was perfect. Then I edited the grass out (yeah quite a bad editing, I am not great at that) to be able to animate the grass near the front of the camera. In all I just want to say that I do not have the permission of the original author so if the original author wouldn't want this up, pm me and I'll remove it, or if you want credits, email me for the same and I'll add the original author's link as well.
Honestly speaking, I wouldn't have asked for permission and would have wrote this statement either way as the process consumes too much time and is not guaranteed to even get a reply from the source.

Anyway, I love this background and the soundtrack.

Evan Call - Under Siege [ Senki Zesshou Symphogear G ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-12-20 | I was genuinely surprised when I read on vgmdb that some of the tracks for second season of Symphogear (Symphogear G) were composed by evan call. Pretty sure most of people know him for his work on Violet Evergarden.

Just like its predecessor, this season also did not have a great set of tracks to listen to separately. This is the only track that caught my attention but I actually quite like this track. Its of the perfect length and doesn't extend needlessly. This track gave off a "Militaristic" feeling very nicely with the horns. You can also say it represents and "Intense" situation fairly nicely.

The track builds up solid with those slow horns and small clinky sounds behind it. Those small and re-occuring string notes after the first horns end were also nice in portraying a "hazardous" situation. Both these sections are fairly small and once they both end, the main theme of this track starts. One thing I personally noted and liked very much was the small transition before the main theme (at 0:46 to 0:51). The violin and the small clinky sound notes (I am unaware of an instrument like that so let me know if you know about it below!) were truly amazing for a transition.
My favourite theme of the entire track definitely starts after that transition. The horns are just superbly portraying the intensity of the situation and and then the violins slowly come in and continue the theme (1:11) right where the horns left off. It was at that exactly moment that I got hooked to this track.The violin track which continues the horns theme was extremely amazing and then both the horns and violins combine for the closing of this track.
Overall as I stated before, the track is short, but it just packs a solid punch throughout its length. I can easily say for me this was the best track out of all the seasons of this show.

Finding background was a pain, I just went on with something which felt okay~ as I was not able to find a suitable one.

Shunryuu - Sound of my Heart [ Senki Zesshou Symphogear ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-12-13 | I marked this track thinking it sounded kinda nice, but i wasn't looking forward to listening to it much. But once I found this track out, I was quite surprised by how nice it sounded.

Personally I did not like this show, and neither its soundtrack much, but this track might just be one exception. After listening to this one separately, I have grown to like this track quite a a lot.

This track is so calm and soothing, and the tune is so melodious and soft, it sounds extremely pleasant. The instruments sound something like bells, triangles or something similar to music box, I am unable to ascertain which ones were used, or probably synthesized, apart from the acoustic guitar in the start of the track. It might just be acoustic guitar with some reverb and a piano throughout but I am not sure. The track is superbly amazing throughout, but some parts with specific tunes are my absolute favourites, like the part from 0:18 to 0:37 and 1:00 to 1:41. Honestly when it comes down to it, the entire track is very good with some parts just enhancing it more.

If anyone knows what instruments are being used at example 0:18 onwards and 1:01 onwards, do let me know in comments.

Taisei Iwasaki - Tortoise Knight ft. Ai Ninomiya [ Kekkai Sensen & Beyond ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-12-06 | I initially had no plans to upload this track, but I have found myself listening to this one (albeit not entirely, but some parts) quite a bit since I finished the show. Hence here it is.

Kekkai sensen was a show that was comical for most part, but was always living up to expectation when the story was interesting or demanded seriousness. It was a great show with a mix of almost everything and I believe season 2 was as good (if not better) than season 1. The ending of season 2 just kept me demanding more of this show.

This track has a heavy attachment to the show and the lyrics are very nicely tailored to fit the scene where this track played. The lyrics also very nicely portray the main protagonist of this show too. The true impact of this song can only be felt after watching season 2 of this show. And also adding to this, I believe I might say that this song is definitely not one that would be preferred or liked by everyone especially those who have not seen this show, but I might be wrong.

It starts of nicely slowly with soft piano and slow vocals. Nothing extravagant in the start, but the song really picks up after the first verse is over (at 1:00 mark). It suddenly shifts its tone from being a calm and soft song to a really powerful one. The deep drums, bass and high violin with low piano notes instantly change the atmosphere into a serious tone. The interesting fact was that the vocal loudness increased and the vocals were tweaked a very small amount, but the pace of the vocals remained the same overall. Even after being at the same pace and almost similar setting, the difference between the two parts was beyond comparison. I instantly loved this whole serious atmophere the track instantly made when I first heard the part in the show.
The track then follows a similar theme for the rest of the song going calm once again and then transitioning back to the serious phase for one last time after that. Just a quick recap through my memory and I feel this is one of the most unique vocal tracks used as background music in a show I have heard till now.

I totally loved this bgm in the show but was unfortunately the only track that really got my attention, however i don't mean to say that the rest of the tracks are bad. They are very nicely tailored for the show.

Tatsuya Kato - Kanousei no Utsuwa [ Shokugeki no souma: San no sara ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-11-29 | As per the post on the channel last week, I had to skip that weekend's upload and postpone it to this due to college exams. I want to talk about this a little but i'll save that for the end of my description for this track.

This track is from third season of shokugeki no souma, but I actually found it during the watch of my fourth season. This show got a lot of my attention in its first season when it came to its soundtrack. Few tracks got my attention in the first season and some of those tracks became one of my all time favourites ( Study both sweet and sour is one example ). Then in the second season, the track called "Signature Dish" also grabbed on the same level. However with third and fourth season there was not a track that really grabbed me similarly. There were some good tracks definitely like the one in this video, but none grabbed me like the previous ones.
However with that said, I do like this track. I noticed it during the 8th episode of fourth season, and was an instant mark for me.

The start and ending tune of this track is super soft, pleasant and great to hear. The main instrument I believe is "koto" in those parts. Its honestly those parts that grabbed my highest attention, the middle part of the track is something I would say "fine". I mostly listen to this track for its first and last part. The japanese theme is portrayed nicely throughout the track for the character this track belongs to ( kinokuni nene ). This track doesn't seem to be the one that could have feelings attached to it. It feels to be one of those kinds that fill in the character's theme, or in this show's case, a good cooking theme for that character haha.

The flute part 1:18 is also a very good part, the instrument I believe is shakuhachi.

The name of this track is also one that I really liked. A translation via google says it translates to "A vessel of possibilities", which actually went really well with the scene where it was played in the 4th season during the talk between isshiki and nene. I'll not spoil what the talk was about, but the name really holds well, and since I found the track in that scene I am very satisfied with the name too.

Now coming to the reason I postponed the last week's upload essentially skipping it. The reason for skipping instead of uploading two tracks this week is something that directly ties to what I said some weeks back, that I am running out of tracks. I used to have a big bundle of pending tracks that I had to upload but that bundle has grown small as I have lately been watching less number of shows, and sometimes the shows I watch don't have something I like enough to be uploading here.
Anyway this would be a rare occurance, as its not like I want to make it a bi-weekly series now lol, I already have a fairly slow upload rate, don't want to worsen it haha.

Yutaka Yamada - Battleground [ Vinland Saga ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-11-15 | Another good track from vinland, and the last upload I plan to do from vinland saga.

This track is good, but its very much divided into three parts. And those parts, at least to me, do not feel coherent. That is why I originally did not plan to upload it as weekly, but decided to do it later on because its a good track to listen to, even if its only some of those parts that you listen to.
The first part (0:02 to 2:04) is very much portraying what the name of this track is. Faced paced action and battles suit the first part of this track very nicely. The initial few seconds of this first half also give a nice sort of pre-war kind of atmosphere too with that heavy brass and bass. After the initial roughly 30 seconds, the battle~ish theme starts and continues upto the end of first half. The violins, the horns and trupmets are really nice sounding in this first part.

The main highlight of this track is 100% the middle or second part of this track. The only reason this track got my attention was because of that part. There was another unreleased version of that part used in the show (in episode 1 when leif tells the kids the story of his journey to vinland) which was a very soft and extremely pleasant sounding tune. In this released version, this middle part ( 2:04 to 4:05 ) produces that tune that was used in the show, however with acoustic guitar in it. It is genuinely amazingly good still, but I would have absolutely loved to have a separate release of that anime version as well. This middle tune as I said before is just the main piece of the cake that I absolutely keep listening to again and again. Its different from the pace of the first half of the track by huge margin (not much different in atmosphere as it still can be perfectly use in some parts of battle), it feels more like a sort of story in middle of war. Like those parts when one is reluctant to do something yet is still forced. The acoustic guitar is a great addition at 2:28 when the main highlight of this track starts. The soft violin or cello (or a combination of both) tune that mainly plays is just genuinely so pleasant to hear at 2:52. The 2:52 to 3:14 part is just my favourite. In that part, the horn that comes in the background for short times genuinely catches me. When I think about it, this part really has a strong emotional feeling in it which is quite enhanced by that horn. Like it adds a heaviness to it.

The third part again is kind of a similar to first part in its feelings starting at 4:05 bringing in some sort of synthesized bass tune and I think something similar to like a guitar, not able to guess what it might be that plays in the background. The high bass and drums give a nice sort of battleish theme.

The first and third half are kind of similar in what they portray, but the middle part adds in a lot of emotions into the heat of battle kind of thing.

This kind of track approach reminds me a little of how most Hiroyuki Sawano tracks are. Long and feeling like multiple tracks were combined into one.

Yutaka Yamada - Savage Wind / 腥風 [ Vinland Saga ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-11-08 | Another great orchestral track, and probably my favourite from Vinland Saga in general.

Most of the vinland tracks were powerful orchestral compositions, which is what I believe Composer Yutaka Yamada also is very good at. The track starts and builds up atmosphere slowly eerily, which really suited the scenes where it was played. I recollect two scenes where it played, and both were foreshadowing the difficulties and hard times that were about to come for the main characters (end of episode 1 and end of episode 12). On top of it having a buildup, the buildup and track were of perfect length not overstaying its welcome. The track starts off slowly and heavily with the low bass (or low pitched string/guitar?) and heavy brass instruments. The horns were especially the highlight in the entirety of this track. And once the buildup finishes at 0:45, the main theme kicks in. The horns/brass in that main theme are exceptionally good at portraying an "Impeding doom" kind of scenario which were apparent from the scenes where it played.

After the main part the track slows down at around 1:19 to shift its tune and transition into the second phase of it. The start of the second half at 1:34 follows a similar tune that played in the start of the main theme of first part with the violins but with different drums this time. It could be treated as a continuation of first half, but I kind of feel this like a buildup for the main theme of the second half so hence why I treat the start of the second half of tune from that timestamp (1:34). The second buildup finishes at 2:23 with brass instruments and violins coming again. The second main tune starts at 2:40 which is again extremely good, however not on par with the first main tune. The brass at 2:40 is extremely good, but its quite short. 2:40 - 2:45 part was absolutely amazing.

Also, after thinking about it, I'll make another upload from vinland (this was originally planned to be the last i.e. only two uploads from vinland).

Yutaka Yamada - Flashpoint / 火種 [ Vinland Saga ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-11-01 | Following up what I announced last week, I took a few hours (around 3~) out today and tried to search for vinland tracks I marked, only to find that few of them are unreleased. Sigh~

A lot of vinland tracks are extremely long, going upto 6 minutes. It leads me to believe that the entire tracks were never really used in the episodes, only snippets and sometimes even those snippets were edited for tv versions. The tracks itself are really amazing and the orchestral composition is nothing short of masterpiece, however it really gave me huge problem to find tracks since its very hard to find the exact piece of tune that caught you attention in the episode in such a long track.
Anyway, I am fairly sure about what I have marked so here is the first of total two (maybe 3) that I wanted to upload.

First thing, in the initial half of this track I was getting extreme vibes of "Shenzhou" track from the movie called "Gravity", especially at the 1:49 with the way those violin notes change. But yeah, I would not say its a copy, its just that small snippet for me matched quite a bit with that track.
The composition itself is really nice, it starts off slowly with those piano notes, and then slowly violins and cellos come in. There is also a nice constant "drum snare" like sound (not drum snare exactly) starting from 0:28 which is pretty nice. I like how the parts are kind of divided by the drums. A drum snare comes in and then the track adds more stuff to itself like at 0:56. After 0:56, the horns come in with those soft piano and violins making a great "pre-war" and filled with emotions kind of atmosphere. It continues till 2:08 where first half of the track reaches its conclusion.

The track again slows down, with a little ambient atmosphere made by piano I think. The tune again starts to pick up around 2:25 with I believe two phases of violin (or either cello or violin or something like that). One plays a continuous tune and the other produces rapid notes in the background. I am always a huge fan of these type of rapid notes, they just add so much in the track for me. The track fully picks up at around 3:05 with drums this time and a little modified tune than first half. The really amazing part is at 3:33, where if you listen closely you can hear a violin tune in the background playing different notes fast. The way there are different layers of instruments in this track is genuinely amazing to hear, and it took me quite some time to notice all this. I am pretty sure there is much more, and there are some instruments which I do not know but I just wanted to talk a bit about what I really liked in this track.

RADWIMPS - Fireworks festival [ Tenki no Ko / Weathering with You ] [ EP ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-10-25 | Two continuous EP uploads are making me work more than I am used to lol. But worth it though :p

Anyway, this anime was the first one that I actually went to a theatre to watch, and I was just like "Yeah it was good but wasn't great". I know I should not be comparing two shows since every one gives a different story, but for some reason I was just expecting too much from this due to its predecessor (not in terms of story, well maybe :p) "Kimi no na wa".
Even in theatre though I was noting scenes where I liked the bgm lol :p

It was only after I came home and saw that the soundtrack was already released that I listened to it separately and realized how much I did not appreciate this track during my watch. It is a great track with a lot of scene depth. This track truly shines when you know the background of this track. It combined really well with the scene. The choir was absolutely on point is showing a sort of divinity in it. The piano tune is however really sweet to hear, and is quite more catchy than the main part of this track. 0:42, when the main piano tune starts building, I have listened to only that part upto 1:10 so many times I've lost count. To some extent I can say I love the piano tune a lot more than the rest of the track. The way that piano tune slows down at the end and produce a softer melody with the same tune was also quite great to hear.

The start was kind of different compared to the rest of the track (talking about the part before the piano tune). It reminded me a little of the track "noname" from "Koutetsujou no Kabaneri". However unlike that track, this tune was not something that assembled itself. In that track, the tune was really all over the place in start, and then combined itself into a nice melody later on which is by far one of the best transitions I have seen. That was unfortunately not the case with this track. There are honestly small areas where I feel this track goes down, however still I kept it in EP because this track hits you quite nicely once you have seen the show. It still is an extremely good track, I just mean small parts like 1:52 which just feel incoherent. Not too much, but a little.

I also quite like those small high pitched tones throughout the track which sounds like triangle to me (you can hear them a bit more clearly at the 0:20 part and ahead). Those especially sound quite good when the main piano tune starts.

--An announcement now--
I have officially run out of tracks today. I no longer have a list of tracks from the shows I have watched to upload. On the bright side, I have been lazy for quite some time now and Only have text file saved for some of the shows I have watched. I've got around 6 text files from where I have to take out tracks. So once I do that I'll get a little more stuff to upload. I planned to do that since last 2 weeks but my college has been a pain since the start of this month, and will probably continue to be the same till the term end at around end of November.
It was actually today that I realized that I don't have any more tracks. Well I'll try to take out some time to the track finding part from my text files, but its actually a very very time consuming process. I remember for Mo Dao Zu shi, I spent nearly 4 hours trying to find stuff and marking what was released and what was unreleased. That was kind of an outlier since it generally does not take me this long, but there have been a handful of other shows where this much time was spent. College doesn't give me enough.
Not gonna lie, I have also been playing a lot of Genshin Impact these past few days so I am probably just bad at time management.
Well regardless I needed to tell this, if I am unable to process my text files, I'll move to making SP uploads (basically tracks that I don't find that good, but there is some small part of them that i really like or the show added a great effect to the track etc). I might have to turn that weekly.
I'll keep you all posted through youtube posts about this, might as well make a poll for some ideas I have.

I shifted on to a more of a "Video editing" side than "Vfx" side. (I know what I do in my EPs is pretty basic and doesn't really hold true to the term vfx, but at least its something lol).
You might see a little stuttering on the background video sequences and that is the fault of the capture software I used. I did not want to misalign the frames and thats why I went ahead with it.

Yuki Kajiura - Administrator [ Sword Art Online: Alicization ] [ EP ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-10-18 | This track is quite unique considering the general scheme SAO tracks follow. Usually they are either soft, ambient or big orchestral compositions showing character themes. However this track really focusses on the villainy and mysterious atmosphere of its character.

It totally caught me off guard when it first played in episode 2's end. Right when the camera moved to the skies and focussed on the tower and moon, it was an instant feeling of "There is definitely something up there". The track really focusses on "Mystery" part with a little touch of villainy.

The bass and the beats are probably the best parts of this track. The vocals uplift the track, but the main attraction for me still lies in the beats. The entire background composition behind the vocals is extremely catchy. Many of the instruments are, I believe, processed in some way or maybe synthesized directly as I have not heard of them so I'll just have to refer them through timestamps.

Right when the beats start at 00:10, there is another instrument along with it and it continues with the beats for the rest of the track. It really sounds nice the way it synchronizes with the main beat. At 0:24, the track fully picks up with another instrument. I think its again some sort of processed piano or xylphone but I am not sure at all. Its got that kind of bubble-y sound to it. That is probably my favourite sound from this entire track. And then right when it plays its first few notes, vocals start. The vocals are astonishing in itself. The choir really sounds extremely nice with the music. The Mysterious aura just reeks out from everywhere after that point.
The track continues like that for a few seconds and then the guitar comes in at 0:52 (I think its a guitar). It was a good part, but doesn't really top the rest of the track for me. And then right when the guitar part finishes at 1:19, if you listen closely there are also very small string sounds added (for stereo headsets, can be heard from the right earcup) that rapidly repeats itself following one tune. Even that tune is kind of nice when you actually notice it and adds to the track. Almost all the instruments really sync very very well together and add to the total atmosphere.

This track and "Blue rose sword battle" are the two tracks I listened on repeat for a few weeks when I finished alicization season 1. I'll soon start my watch for another one.

---Background---
I did find a great background image to use, but I had absolutely no idea what I could add to it. My mind just stuck to adding fog type of effect which generally is mysterious in itself and I thought it would go well with this track. Am not super satisfied with what I made, but eh its ok~ish I guess.

Yuki Kajiura - Climbing up the wall [ Sword Art Online: Alicization ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-10-11 | I instantly became a fan of this track the first time I heard this in episode 10 (a different unreleased version of this track played in that part).

The melody of this track (start at the end) just sounds very good in my opinion. The track is slow, calm and has kind of an "Adventure" type of feeling to it, at least in the main tunes of this track. The flutes form the main melody and I believe the cello along with drums (with little harp) form a nice background with the same tune overall. My favourite part from this track will always be how that main tune completes itself. The part I am talking about can be heard at 0:17, 0:40 etc. While stirctly only listening to these parts might not give a nice feel, but how these parts bring an end to the previous music genuinely sounds really great.

The middle part of this track (from 0:48) plays a modified version of "Swordland" track from original SAO, which well at this point basically stands as sort of main theme for all SAO shows that have come and will be coming in future. It would be nice to see how that theme is modified for coming SAOs (if any). It's so nice to see that they used the same instruments that play the main parts of this track for the swordland part as well (Cello flute drums and harp).

(Extra notes)
Choosing the background was really hard for this track, I had some thoughts of using the alice background where she was sitting under the tree, but overall that just did not sit right with me. Then another thought was again revolving around alice and taking the scene when this track was played in episode 10, and well the camera angle was either top down and too zoomed in on alice's face. Ended up with this one, with a little photoshop. Not super satisfied or anything, but I felt this one was better in combination with track than the other ones I was aiming for.

Also I'll update the text file for previous shows after the next upload (which is the last of main uploads from SAO:A).

Yuki Kajiura - Project Alicization [ Sword Art Online: Alicization ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-10-04 | I personally feel this track is a very good combination of ambient theme and a bgm/object theme.

Like the track "Dream of the lost days" I uploaded a few days back, this one brings a similar atmosphere. However, I believe "Dream of the lost days" inclined more towards the Ambient side, this one is a mixed bag.
The piano tune is just very nice to hear. The melody produced by piano is great, and the beats supplement it really nicely. The small piano section at 0:58 was pretty well made, and the overall theme is of piano at start and end were definitely very nice.

I believe this and the last 2 tracks I uploaded (Elevator clerk and dream of the lost days) were overshadowed by other great tracks in the show. True those tracks which overshadowed these were extremely good, however these tracks aren't much lower in my opinion.

Yuki Kajiura - An elevator clerk [ Sword Art Online: Alicization ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-09-27 | Again a similar themed upload like last time. A pleasant and calm track.

This track reminds me of "A tender feeling" track from the original SAO quite a lot. The start piano notes resemble a little to that track.

There isn't much going on with this track, so I don't really have much to say about it, just very simple and soft piano with some ambient melody in the background.
PS: This was the only track I had doubts with if I should upload it as a weekly upload or keep it for midweek, but I just went with weekly since I really like the softness and lovely feeling of this track.

Yuki Kajiura - Dream of the lost days [ Sword Art Online: Alicization ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-09-20 | Its a very sweet, melodious and an ambient~ish track.

I really like those xylophone~ish tunes (I don't exactly know if its a xylophone or not) with soft piano in the background. There is also a very calm sound in the background apart from those xylophone~ish and piano sounds which adds a little ambient theme to this track. Sometimes it just feels like there is a vocal choir in that theme. The tune itself is quite nice to hear, with a little touch of emotions. There isn't much going on in this track and it sticks to one set theme and tune, but still is a fairly nice track to hear in my opinion.
There are quite a few uploads from Alicization I have to do so this series will be there for around a month on this channel (PS: I am keeping the next best track for me in SAO as the last upload)

When it comes to these type of tracks in SAO, for me "Gracefully" from SAO Season 1 still stands at the top.

Yuki Kajiura - The Blue Rose Sword Battle [ Sword Art Online: Alicization ] [ EP ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-09-13 | This track instantly stunned me from its melody when I heard it in the show, especially in the first enhance armament part.
(This upload is a bit different from my normal uploads and I'll cover the reason in the later part of this description)

For me, this is hands down "the best track" in the entire show. I really don't think any new track, if any was introduced in season 2, would even be able to come close to this. The music, the tune is just mind blowingly amazing and intense. This track was on solid repeat for me once I finished the show, I was just mesmerized by the tune a lot. Probably this is the reason the reason that I spent the highest amount of time I have ever spent on making a video in this one.

Based on the context of its usage in the show, I honestly thought the first minute of this track was a separate track altogether. The first few minutes were very rarely used in conjunction with the second half of the track (I can't remember any instance of them coming in order*). One instance I remember is when the second half played first and then first half followed after that, this was in the bath area fight (those who have seen the show know what part I am talking about).

Coming to the track, this has a very very soft start. The piano tune is just on point, absolutely perfect in my opinion. It really translates the main music into piano really really well. Like even when hearing at 00:00 to 00:03, its so great to hear so many small piano notes being introduced for adding a little variation to the start of the main tune. The main tune at 0:59 starts with plain notes, not with the notes that vibrate, or change rapidly up and down (idk what its called), but the piano tune adds a little variation to that in the start by many small notes which just sounds amazing in my opinion. Idk if I was able to get this point across clearly or not, I just hope you get what I am talking about. Usually there would only be a one sligly longer note for a plain violin tune, instead of many small ones which are also different from each other.
Its either a violin or cello (or both?) that accompany the piano in the first half really really nicely and sounds great. I also really like how this track goes silent and introduces the chilling wind sound right before the main part kicks in.It fits the sword's power so well ~!

Now for the main part of the track, 0:59 part and oh boy doesn't it sound good. Honestly I am always so captivated by the first few seconds of the start of this tune. Its so filled with intensity as well as emotion, its hard to describe this part in just one feeling. It has all the feelings of struggle, desperation, emotion, intensity, loss. The drums especially add a lot more intensity to this. The tune on top of it is kind of catchy is as well. The flute part in the middle from 1:43 really adds a good touch and nice variation to the track.

And now before closing the description, I'll talk about the change in video format for this video. My plan to make this small animation has been there ever since I finished alicization. I knew this track had to be in my EP series, and I just wanted to do something different for this. Usually I make a wallpaper and add stuff to go along with this, but this time I made something from scratch. You all are used to seeing my audio bar and I had doubts if I really should exclude that but as I started progressing with this animation, I just kept thinking more and more that the audio bar will not go well with this, and hence why this time I decided to shift from my regular format of videos. I hope it doesn't irk the regular watchers a lot. I had my sole focus on creating the "enhance armament" animation of the sword.

Narasaki - Happy Hunting! [ Rakuen Tsuihou - Expelled from Paradise ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-09-06 | Nothing over the top good this time, just a nice militaristic theme this week.

The track starts really nicely with that horn and some strings in the background. The horn tune really sounds very nice and militaristic. The overall track just portrays a very nice militaristic theme. I believe this track can go really well as both a pre-war and war-conclusion type of music. The track slowly picks up with instruments being added one by one and all continue the same tune for the most of the track. The overall Brass composition was a really nice hear for me. Kinda reminded me a little of the initial part of Silver Star track from battleship movie.

The track picks quite good from 1:02 when all the instruments come together. The vocal sound at 1:17 was an extremely good touch to this track as well.

Dreams of the past [ Mo dao zu shi ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-08-29 | If anyone would ask me what my favourite tune from Mo dao zu shi was, it would be my immediate answer that this will be it. This tune is a part of track called "Drunken dreams of the past Flute Version", but I decided to cut it short and only include the end part. The reason I did that specifically for this upload when I denied doing that in the previous upload, is because the first half of the track just really does not gives me the tune of the opening which it claims it is. If I try hard enough I can make it out, but still it definitely doesn't feel like that on the first hear, and this part of the track doesn't match at all at any point for me.

This track genuinely broke my heart much worse than any other track by miles. It's got so much pain attached to it, I don't know if you can feel it from the track but after watching the show, this track is just heartbreaking. The tune is genuinely so amazing, there is no reason for me to give it anything less than 10 for this tune. The constant slowly variating tune in the background of the flute is adds so much even after being so plain, beyond amazing. Both the flute and the background tune fit so well together, I can hear it all day again and again.

This might be the shortest upload I have ever done, yet it feels like this is one of the best sounding track I could ever upload here, and I am being truly honest while saying this. No amount of appreciation I believe is enough for this track, I just like it so much.
There is another variation of this track in the second season, but that one is unreleased, or at least I was not able to find it and I really spent around 3 hours trying to find all the tracks because as I said in the previous upload, they were all very confusing to me. There are a few other unreleased tracks, which I hope get released some time with season 3, though I won't keep my hopes high.

I tried hard to think if I could add some effects to the video, but heck finding the background itself without spoiling some parts of the show was extremely hard lol, so there would again be a 10/10 upload without any stuff I could add XD.

This track or part of the track is just beyond good, truly stands at the top for me.

With this track ended, I hereby conclude the uploading of soundtracks from Mo dao zu shi. This show was the one for which I really wanted to share the tracks just because how hard it is to find them even when they are so great. There is probably one more I would upload but again that would be in my, yes you probably guessed it, the dead SP series loool. Some day, some day XD

PS: I really did not like keeping the name of this track same as what it originally is based on the wiki, so I ended up chaning it slightly to add a little more feels to it :p

Love Drunk (Erhu ver.) [ Mo dao zu shi ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-08-23 | The start of this track is very generic according to me. It sounds just like any other normal emotional track that could be played, nothing special.

The part after that (the erhu part apparently as per the name of the track) at 0:42 is better than the start, but again it doesn't sound "unique" or "interesting" to me. However, when it comes to how this track ends and the tune it plays at the end, that tune just blows me away everytime. The 1:21 part is just out of this world. That tune hits me very hard, and I believe a part of it has to do with my attachment of the show as well. The tune feels so catchy to me, even after potraying very strong feelings. The heartbreaking atmosphere can just be felt from the tune itself.

The thing about the soundtracks of this show is, many times the tracks just feel like they are similar. Its mostly because of the similar instruments and similar notes but the tune is very different. When I was searching for tracks from this show, I always felt like yeah I heard this track before so it must be there, but it turned out the track for which I thought like this was unreleased. I don't know if you all feel the same, but I am almost always confused by the soundtrack from this show xD. But yeah, the soundtrack is definitely mind-blowing. Would have been great if all tracks were released, but I never really expected any track to be released in the first place so I am happy with what we got.

At first I thought I'll trim this track to either the last part, or make it start from something like 0:42. However considering the lack of tracks from this show on youtube, I decided to keep it fully.

Yanlis Love [ Mo dao zu shi ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-08-16 | An extremely sweet and melodious track.

Many tracks in Mo dao zu shi follow a similar tune, but vary it in different ways to portrayt different emotions, as well as snipping parts from this tune to fit different scenarios. This track really has that asian aspect to it with those Shamisen (I think) sounds.

The tune upto 0:47 really sets up a nice ambience. From 0:47, a particular melody comes more into picture and the rest of the track follows or builds up on it for the most part. I believe the instrument here is probably erhu. My favourite part is definitely from 1:14, the track starts to become a bit more strong from that part. The tune at 1:36 was absolutely amazing to hear. I really liked the way how it ended with that variation. And then at the end, it goes to Shamisen (again I think XD) and produces the same tune.
The track overall was really solid.

I actually wanted to use a different wallpaper for this one, but It might have been a little spoiler~ish so I did not. Although I am very pleased with the color scheme in this one as well. The one I actually wanted to use as wallpaper was at the end of season 2 with a small flashback from the past.

There might be some coming tracks that might be more suited for the SP series, but I've decided to keep them as the weekly one.

Right or wrong [ Mo Dao Zu Shi ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-08-09 | The format of videos I'll be making for tracks from this show will be like this. Mostly because -
1) there are no 'good' wallpapers that would fit the track available apart from capturing the show scenes
2) the show itself was widescreen and it would be very weird to have it as background with black bars.
Now I know I have kept black bars for some shows in the past (like from Grisaia, or Darling in the franxx) but they had separate reasons.

Anyway, coming to this track, this was definitely the first track in the show that caught my attention. And episode after episode, the number of tracks just kept growing. I started this show with not high expectations, but the show blew apart everything I had thought or expected. This show turned out to be one of the best shows I have ever watched.
The track definitely is short, very short in fact but I really appreciate it being kept that way. Adding filler stuff just to make the track long is really not a great idea, and this sort of stuff can be easily understood where most of the time you can see that only a small section of track is used in the show and the rest is just barely ever used or not intriguing enough. But I will say that a small buildup of around 3-4 seconds would have been a nice idea. It's ok to have a start like this in the show, but for separate listening it kind of feels weird.

I really like the seriousness and intensity in this track. The atmosphere is just superb. The drums add to the intensity, but the cake is taken away by the strings. They are so good, especially at the 0:23 part. At the 0:23 part, I originally thought there was some sort of choir in the background of the track going with the tune of the track, but upon hearing it many times carefully I don't think that is the case, its just strings I think. They are all just so well mixed together, its just amazing to hear. The scene in the show where this track was played was also a really amazing scene, the value of which was learned much later in the show.

According to Wikipedia, the bgm was composed by Sun Yujing, Wen Teng
and Kun Shuo. But since I do not have any exact name, i'll probably not include them till I get it from a verified source.
Also I am fairly sure this show poses a very high risk of getting a copyright strike from tencent or other companies involved in this show, but we'll see about the outcome.

Edit: Apparently I also cannot add ending cards. I assume the reason is the video length being too short lol. There was no explicit warning or error message stating the reason though.

汐音社 - Glory Rises Again [ Quanzhi Gaoshou / The Kings Avatar ]

Epic Anime OST 2020-08-01 | I never really expected that I would find any actual soundtrack (well this is not exactly a "soundtrack" per se, i'll get to this part soon) from King's avatar during my watch and I was genuinely surprised upon finding this.

To be honest, there really wasn't any other track in the show that I liked anyway so I am not that sad about this show not having a soundtrack release (for the main show, the ova has a soundtrack release).
This is actually a song for the show. From what I was able to find, it was used in the promotion videos for the show but the song was not explicitly used in the show. In place of that, the instrumental version of that song was used two times in the 3 episode sequel OVA of the show. This is the instrumental version of that song. Since this was used as an actual background music for different and genuinely entertaining parts of the show, I decided to upload this. There are many actual songs that have great instrumental but I don't upload them mainly because they don't really come into the BGM definition for me, unless ofcourse they are used as a BGM which is very rarely the case.

Anyways, it was a real trouble finding this track and I really am glad I was able to find this one. The track is just really great sounding and catchy. Since it was used as the fighting theme for Ye Qiu and his Avatar in the OVA, I have implicitly attached this theme to him.
The track really gives vibes of being an instrumental version of the track because the main part of the track repeats again and again. I think that main part consists mostly of guitars and sound really catchy and nice. Also, if you pay a little more attention, you will notice that there are some some quick and rapid notes of some sort of instrument (mostly synthesized I think) during the start of the main part. You can notice them around 0:10 and many times when that part repeats ahead. Those are really quite intriguing and actually sound very good when combined with the main theme. The best part of the track for me starts at 3:17. That guitar and the drums sound just amazing together. After that part again comes the final repeat of the main theme and then the track ends. Maybe another reason for that part being my favourite is because that was the part that was used at one of the most amazing moments of the OVA.

PS: I tried really hard to get a composer/performer name for this track in well some english, but I could not. The name I wrote is all I could come up with. Original vocal track is from "小魂/Xiao hun" probably. There just arn't enough articles for me to confirm stuff.

PPPS: (lot of P's lol) While the name of this track was referenced from another video for this track on youtube, the audio was not taken from that. So no re-encoding performed on the video. I lay heavy emphasis on audio quality and would never do anything like copying the audio from another video and putting it in my videos. That would severely deteriorate quality which is a big no no for me and this channel I have been running. In case there is no other source for me, there would be a some sort of notice for the same in ether a creator post by me, or on the description.
