Haven Tents
An introduction to the Haven Tent
updated
Developed in partnership with the hammock stand experts at YOBOgear, this stand is designed to work seamlessly with every version of the Haven Tent. It's even big enough for Haven Safari! Giving you the freedom to hang your hammock virtually anywhere. No trees required 🌊🌲
In this more in-depth setup tutorial, we’ll not only walk you through assembling and adjusting your Haven Hammock Stand, but also show you how to use the included tarp poles an other lines to properly position and secure your rainfly. Our lay-flat hammock design doesn’t align with standard hammock stands, but with YOBOgear’s patent-pending innovation, you get full mobility and ultimate comfort outdoors.
Setup Steps:
1. Assemble the Stand: Raise the two plastic hub pieces so the shock-corded poles snap into place. Connect all leg segments and the ridgepole.
2. Attach Tree Straps: Loop the straps around the stand’s hooks, preparing a stable anchor point for your Haven Tent.
3. Hang Your Hammock: Hang the Haven Tent as usual, keeping a slightly lower hang angle to reduce tension on the ridgepole. Don’t pull the hammock too tight!
4. Pitch the Rainfly: Use the included tarp poles to properly align and secure the rainfly for maximum coverage and weather protection.
5. Stabilize the Stand: Before getting in, push the two inward-facing legs toward the hammock to lower the third stabilizing leg, minimizing wobble. Even if there’s a bit of movement, the stand is plenty strong!
6. Relax and Enjoy: You’re all set! Now, with the Haven Hammock Stand, you can take your hammock experience to new places—comfortably and conveniently.
Whether you’re relaxing in your backyard, car camping, or pitching your setup right on the beach, the Haven Hammock Stand delivers unparalleled versatility. Plus, don’t forget that the Haven Tent can be pitched on the ground as a bivy tent! Learn how here: haventents.com/a/blog/going-to-ground

In this video, we’ll guide you through the setup and takedown of the new Haven Hammock Stand. Our hammocks are known for their lay-flat comfort, which doesn’t work with traditional hammock stands. YOBOgear's patent-pending design brings added mobility to our innovative sleep system, letting you experience ultimate comfort anywhere.
Setup Steps:
1. Assemble the Stand: Lift the two plastic hub pieces, allowing the poles with shock cords to snap into place. Connect all leg and ridgepole segments.
2. Attach Tree Straps: Loop the tree straps around the hooks on the stand, preparing it for your hammock.
3. Hang Your Hammock: Hang your Haven Tent as usual. Maintain a lower hang angle to reduce tension on the ridgepole and avoid bending. *Don't pull the hammock too tight!
4. Stabilize the Stand: Before hopping in, push the two inward-facing legs toward the hammock to lower the third stabilizing leg, reducing any wobble. Even with a bit of wobble, the stand is plenty strong!
5. Relax and Enjoy: You’re all set! Now you can take your hammock anywhere with ease.
Whether you’re in your backyard, at a campsite, or on a beach, the Haven Hammock Stand offers unmatched versatility. Plus, remember, the Haven Tent can also be pitched on the ground as a bivy tent! See how to pitch your Haven Tent as a ground bivy here: haventents.com/a/blog/going-to-ground

Our Route:
Marvine Campground — Marvine Lakes — Wall Lake — East Marvine Trail
🏕 Day 1: Starting from the Marvine Lake Campground, we rode up to Marvine Lakes for our first camp. We were skunked on the fishing but later learned we needed to be in deeper water.
🏔 Day 2: We ascended to the “Flat Top” of the Flat Top Wilderness and continued past the East Marvine turnoff to camp by Wall Lake, sitting just over 11,000 feet. Clouds ripped by all day bringing rain on and off.
🌲 Day 3: We doubled back to rejoin the Marvine loop and made our way down the East Marvine Trail, finishing our ride back at the trailer.
It was a memorable experience having David and Brandon join us for their first multi-day Haven Adventure ride. Our Haven Tents were put to the test on night two and we learned the value of good cover.
Come along on our adventure and experience the beauty and challenges of the Flat Top Wilderness with us. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more outdoor adventures!

The original Insulated XL work great. It fits perfectly inside the hammock and creates a flat and open sleeping platform. We recommend you keep the original Insulated XL pad fully inflated to hold the hammock open.
But Haven XL is wide… 30” / 60 cm and the original pad may sag or v down the center. This new True Level XL pad is designed to reduce that V. The True Level XL pad is wider in the center and tapered on the edges. But the results are in. The lay is AMAZING 🤩
In addition to the supoort, True Level XL is softer, quieter, slightly lighter, and a lot more insuated. Learn more at haventents.com/products/haven-insulated-pad-xl

About 6 months ago I started to bounce around online looking for a remote Alaskan river with good scenery and manageable water. Not too intense as this was our first multi-day pack raft trip, but not too placid either. The Happy River appeared to check all those boxes, aaaand it absolutely did!
Starting from Puntilla Lake, floated the river in 2 and a half days, but we had great weather and had two marathon days on the Skwentna River to the town of Skwentna. Here's the full scoop.
There is a lodge on Puntilla Lake. They run hunting cabins there and higher up on Sheep Lake. We would have liked to fly into Sheep Lake to extend our float of the Happy River... but come to find out, Regal Air (who we chartered with) does a lot of business with the lodge. The lodge had a high-end client staying on Sheep Lake whom they didn't want to disturb, so Regal Air refused to take us there.
So if you'd like to fly into Sheep Lake, pick a different charter service and make sure they are willing to take you there. Or go before the sheep hunt in August. We were under the impression the lodge had a legal right to keep us from Sheep Lake, but it was just their relationship with Regal Air. We missed about 1/3 of our float of the Happy and had a longer hike to the river. But we got to the water and the fun began!
We floated the river Aug 16-18. It had been a wet summer so the water was probably high for this time of year, but you could see that the river could probably flow twice what we floated in the Spring. Pack rafts were the way to go as navigating a raft through the rocks would have been pretty tedious.
The river never really lets up. You go from rapid section to section pretty constantly which is exactly what we were after. There were a few sections where salmon congregated and lots of bear sign. There were no major rapids or obstacles but it appeared that another group, probably on bigger rafts, had cut some sweepers out of the river ahead of us.
Like I said the Happy checked the boxes for our remote Alaskan adventure. After about 1 full day of floating, we made it to the Skwentna River. We had arranged for a wheeled plane to pick us up at the town (not really a town) of Skwentna so we had a long float. About 57 miles according to Alaska.org
The Skwentna is relaxed unless you try to split the monoliths. We were on the lookout for bears, saw one about 200 yards away and I’m sure we missed a bunch more! We had great weather so we put in long days and flew out about two days sooner than we expected.
My cousins were hoping to get another adventure out of this Alaska trip so when we returned to Anchorage the wheels were in motion. We found a Turo, set up camp off the side of the road near Turn Lake, and made our way to Cooper Landing for adventure number 2!
Mike at Bike Cooper Landing was super accommodating. They hooked us up with great bikes, some equipment, and gave us a shuttle to the trailhead. I’m not much of a biker, and Alaska in August gets a bit overgrown 😅 but we managed to get another 30 hours of Alaskan backcountry to ourselves.
In 5 days we logged more than 100 backcountry miles. Let’s talk about some of the gear we brought along!
We used Alpaca Pack Rafts that we rented from backcountrypackrafts.com/rent/. We probably could have found gear in Alaska but we didn’t want to scramble when we got there. They shipped to our home in Utah and we brought them with us.
Not that we know what we’re doing, but Reyr Gear telescoping fly rods have become a favorite for our adventures. reyrgear.com we saw a bunch of people at the airport with the long fly-rod tubes. Not an option for us on this float!
New for this trip, I bought a holster from craftholsters.com I wanted a cross-draw holster as I also carry bear spray you can’t really have both on your right hip. This holster was super comfortable and really well made. Each order is actually custom-made.
Grayl water filters have been our go-to for a while now. They are quick and incorporate the water bottle right into the filter. I initially planned to reduce weight with a Nalgene and Steripen but when I put them on the scale... the Grayl weighed the same, is more reliable, and purified water tastes better than UV filtered water in my opinion. grayl.com
Now the sleep!! 😉 I have NEVER slept so well camping. We traveled hard but slept even harder. Check out https://www.HavenTents.com for more information.

The Haven Tent system is an innovative new product that has been designed with features to enhance your camping experience. Bergen Outdoors highlights some of these features, starting with the flat-lay design of the tent. This design creates a flat-open sleeping platform unlike the cocoon created in regular hammocks. Sleep on your back, side, or stomach. Bergen Outdoors calls it the "perfect lay-flat hammock".
In addition, the Haven Tent system has ventilation flaps on each end, allowing you to stay cool and comfortable even on the hottest days, while reducing humidity and condensation. You'll appreciate the ability to control the amount of fresh air coming in, while keeping bugs and other unwanted visitors out. The rainfly is another feature that Bergen Outdoors highlights, as it provides excellent protection from the elements. No need to worry about getting soaked in the rain, as the Haven Tent system has you covered.
But don't forget the RidgeLight! This is an accessory designed to illuminate your Haven. Bergen Outdoors notes that the RidgeLight is not only dimmable and functional but also adds a touch of ambiance to the overall camping experience.
As you can see in the thumbnail, Bergen Outdoors gives the Haven Tent system a thumbs up, calling it a "good piece o' kit."
If you want to see more reviews of the Haven Tent system, you'll find them on the HavenTents.com homepage. Simply scroll down to the bottom of the page and dive in. You'll also find reviews posted on each product page, giving you an even more detailed look at what the Haven Tent system has to offer.
While the Haven Tent system is new to the market, it has already been tried and tested, and is ready for you to take on your next camping adventure. Whether you're an experienced camper or just starting out, the Haven Tent system is definitely worth considering for your next trip into the great outdoors.

If you are a side sleeper you've suffered with the rest of us on air mattresses or wrapped up in traditional hammocks. Years of sleeping on soft beds have ruined us for sleeping outside... until now.
The Haven Tent creates a flat and open sleeping platform. While laying on your side you have room for your arms, legs, and knees. And you can roll from side to side without needing to reposition your whole kit.
In our system, the mattress gives under pressure (much like your bed at home) so you don't develop any hot spots on your shoulders or hips. Side sleeping is comfortable in all sizes of the Haven Tent... Haven XL, Haven Safari, or the standard Haven Tent.
Our goal at Haven Tents is to make sleep the highlight of camping. Side sleepers are absolutely welcome!! Check out some of the reviews on the subject. You find the trees we'll bring the Zzzzz's.

The Haven Tent lays flat. Not kinda flat, or sorta flat. FLAT. Think pancake.. think Kyrie Irving's worldview.
Our patented flay lay design makes the Haven Tent perfect for those who sleep on their back, sides, or stomach. Bringing the comforts of home to the edge of the world!
Traditional hammocks have that distinctive banana shape. Personally, I can’t stand being bent like a banana, and it makes sleeping on your stomach completely impossible.
Other lay flat designs, like asymmetric hammocks and other bridge hammocks, get closer to laying flat but still come up short. Don't settle on close enough!

As a fragile adult, my aims are different. The perfect hammock should be:
1. Easy to get in and out of
2. Stable
3. Comfortable and flat laying
Here is a look at the Haven Tent system and where traditional hammocks go wrong. In the video I use a backyard-style hammock, but the mechanics hold true for traditional gathered end hammocks.
There are some variations like asymmetric hammocks and traditional bridges which address some of these issues. But I challenge anyone to find a hammock that is more stable, lays flatter, and is easier to get in and out of than the Haven Tent.
Thanks for watching!
