In the unedited take 4 (the master), Bob flubs this line. In all official mixes (except for the Canadian/UK mono, which leaves it untouched) the edit is handled abruptly by splicing in the line from take 1, causing a beat to skip in the bar, making it sound as if the band made a massive mistake. The mismatch happens because not only is Bob’s phrasing different in take 1, but the beat also shifts on that part, making it difficult to blend seamlessly with take 4. To smooth this out, I used a slight crossfade and let Bob’s vocal from the splice run a bit longer, working with demixed stems from both takes. This remix was carefully edited to present the song in full with all its verses, since every take breaks down. I used the most complete take (Take 15) for the opening section. Just before the breakdown on the line “now your eyes cry wolf", I switched to a vocal-less rehearsal take, into which I inserted Bob’s vocals for the final verse, extracted from the piano-only take where he sings alone (Take 16). To finish, I superimposed a harmonica solo over the rehearsal track, taken from the first take of “Like a Rolling Stone” and re-arranged to fit the song, essentially creating a complete version of the performance.This remix was possible using stems extracted with machine learning from those 3 different sources.

Bob Dylan - One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later) [2025 Remix by Ant Man Bee] Ant 2 Man Bee 2025-08-15 | Remixed using machine-learning stems extracted on mvsep.com, from the 4-track master included in the Collector's Edition of The Bootleg Series Vol. 12: The Cutting Edge 1965–1966.Because it was sourced from the Bootleg Series' 4-track master, I was able to isolate every element of the song very easily. On the other hand, the freedom offered, combining with the rather busy nature of the arrangement of the song, made certain decisions a bit difficult. While it might seem obvious to place the guitars on the sides, it felt wrong to me to separate Bob’s guitar from his voice. I eventually decided to pan the organ to the right and the lead guitar to the left. In the center, I kept the piano, Bob’s guitar and voice, and the rhythm section.The mix is also more faithful to the mono version, which was the intended way to hear the song. As such, I recreated the edit heard at 2:57: in all the stereo mixes, the organ plays for a couple of bars after the chorus, causing Bob to come in slightly late. I replaced that section with the piano fill from the previous chorus, just like the mono mix.I also omitted the rather puzzling fade-out found on every stereo mix, letting the cold ending being heard at full volume. Those accustomed to the stereo mixes might find this approach refreshing.
Bob Dylan - 4th Time Around [AMBs Remix with Lost Keyboard Track] Ant 2 Man Bee 2025-08-14 | Here's an interesting remix that I made as a quick test. Blonde on Blonde has a notoriously messy release history, with different mixes issued in different countries and several stereo remixes, even the release date was a point of contention for quite some time. For this project, I extracted the harmonium track from the first stereo mix, heard on the album’s early U.S. pressings, and inserted it into a new mix. During its initial run, the album went through two stereo mixes, the first being noticeably different and sometimes quite rough."4th Time Around" was one of the most drastically altered songs. The first stereo mix included a harmonium part that was later dropped entirely. Also, two different mono mixes with this harmonium track also showed up on the French, UK and Canadian mono releases of the album. This part appears to have been removed from the 4-track master, as none of the later remixes include it, not even the final US mono release.In its place, a drum overdub, recorded on June 16, was added, disproving the often-cited May 16 release date. The revised stereo mix of the album, featuring this overdub, first appeared in New Zealand and Australia before gradually replacing the earlier stereo mix in other territories.For this remix, I combined the harmonium with the later drum overdub, panning the drums slightly toward the center. The result makes it clear why the harmonium was cut: it competes with the same EQ space of the guitars, cluttering everything. Still, it’s an interesting curiosity.Download link in FLAC.
