Niemecz was a cellist who played in Haydn's orchestra, and they were close friends. Haydn had a keen interest in this type of clock and its technology. And, as is generally accepted in academic scholarship today, he created these clocks in collaboration with Haydn. Niemecz and Haydn lived in houses close to each other, and Haydn's role in making these clocks may have been that of a supervisor. I learned about the existence of this film while reading philosopher Gilles Deleuze's cinema books. There are not many examples on the internet and archives. In all the samples I found, the sound quality was very degraded, so I used recordings from different dates by pianist Jacques Février, whose recordings were also used in the original film. Since it was different from the original audio recording, I adjusted the timings and did some editing. I preserved the music-visual timing of the original film, with changes, cuts, speed-ups/slow and montages. Also, I think there was a sepia filter that was not in the original, so I removed it and gave it a slight blue tone.Debussy's biggest source of inspiration was nature. I think the composer might be pleased with this kind of visualization.

Frédéric Chopins Favorite Composers Ozan Fabien Guvener 2022-09-26 | Frederic Chopin and his favorite composers and compositions...For the video, I tried to choose recordings close to Chopin's aesthetic. For example, the singers come from the tradition of opera singers whom Chopin loved (they sing much softer than the known opera singers, they had different techniques in many ways). Some of the pianists are indirectly connected to Chopin. For example, pianists such as Mieczysław Horszowski, Ignaz Friedman, and Ignace Tiegerman studied with Theodor Leschetizky, and Leschetizky heard Chopin's piano playing and befriended Chopin's students or Wanda Landowska is a student of Aleksander Michałowski, who studied with Chopin's pupils.This I think is quite important. When we look at Chopin's discipline, he did not directly teach his own works to his students. First, he taught the works of composers he loved. He wanted them to learn to play polyphony with Bach, to learn to play cantabile with Mozart - Field, to learn to play legato with Clementi. He asked his students to go to operas and learn the art of bel canto.Chopin's compositions have influences from the composers here, but Chopin was both eclectic and made original developments. It can be seen that in general he does not like his peers and is close to the "classical" period. But we shouldn't miss his "romantic" vein, and even though these composers were among his favourites, and fed by them, he wanted to do something "new". His erroneous notes, his outdated rubato, his approach to music that are too romantic and with different readings associated with other branches of art are quite unacceptable for today's modern academic understanding and listener. Many of the recordings are a few days or even weeks before the pianists leave the world. Some knew it was probably a farewell recording, some didn't. What is "swan song"?Swan Song: "A metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. The phrase refers to an ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song just before their death since they have been silent (or alternatively not so musical) for most of their lifetime. Composer Side of 30 Pianists (They play their own compositions) Ozan Fabien Guvener 2022-05-23 | Many pianists actually had a composer side. In fact, nearly all the great pianists of the 19th century were also composers, and pianists also studied composition. This tradition has disappeared over time. This selection has compiled the last examples of this lost tradition. This selection consists of lesser-known composers and more well-known pianists; and the names here are all professional pianists, they often played other composers in concerts. For this reason, I did not include pianists/composers such as Bartok, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Dohnanyi, Grainger, whose compositions are known and frequently played by other pianists. There are no names such as Scharwenka and Chaminade, who are known for their composition rather than their pianism. Maybe there are a few exceptions, like Godowsky, Bowen or Feinberg but there may be people who don't know their compositions, and these people often played other composers on stage or studio. Some pianists are almost forgotten, but they are important and in my opinion good pianists of their time. I am aware that some compositions are not considered successful or some are just simple virtuosic pieces; however, there are some remarkable successful pieces among them. Footage: Liszts Pupil Arthur de Greef plays his own Piano Concerto (1934) Ozan Fabien Guvener 2022-05-19 | Arthur De Greef (1862 - 1940) and his footage! He is playing a part of his own concerto. Greef was a pupil of Franz Liszt for two years. He also a friend of Edvard Grieg and Camille Saint-Saëns. Grieg would call him: "The best performer of my music I have met with". This document is the only example 'filmed recording' among Liszt students, for now. Moreover, there is a sound recording in the movie. Greef's noble and serious demeanor away from gestures, and his distinctive use of his arms and body - pianists from the 19th century tradition were using it for sound production - can be an example of Franz Liszt's attitude on the piano.

Improvisations by Great Pianists and Composers Ozan Fabien Guvener 2022-03-27 | Nowadays, we can hardly see improvisation in classical music and general opinion is that improvisation is not acceptable in classical music! But before classical music became academic, all great composers and performers were great improvisers. Bach, Mozart, Weber, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, Brahms, Tchaikovksy, Saint-Saëns, Mahler, Debussy, Scriabin, Bartok etc... In this video, I show 13 improvised piano plays. Besides composers such as Saint-Saëns, Elgar and Albeniz, there are also great virtuosos such as Horowitz and Hofmann. Some improvisations are just a simple piano exercise, some a simple spontaneous prelude before starting the piece, some embellishment; I tried to combine all kinds of improvisation.* I deleted Hofmann's recordings from this video. Although I still think that Hofmann performed spontaneously, but it is not possible to prove this, and when I evaluated the objections, I decided that it should not be included in the video. Hofmann makes it clear in his book that he hasn't worked before, and he tends to be very, very spontaneous at concerts. He recorded that waltz many times and never did anything like that. Hofmann came from the tradition of the 19th century; his teacher, Anton Rubinstein, is famous for making similar improvisations. Well improvised pianists like Horowitz, Cziffra, Rachmaninoff do not play spontaneously. Spontaneous piano playing is a different phenomenon; Pianists from the 19th century tradition such as Pachmann, Paderewski and Hofmann play each piece spontaneously in concert. That's why I judged it to be improvised, but that's a bit of a subjective opinion.
