One of those being the ‘N Grin Boost’ mode which unleashes a very serious power hike from the 5 N’s ‘standard’ 580bhp to 641bhp for 10 seconds, accomplished via its dual electric motors.
That means it'll go from 0-62mph in 3.4s and max out at 162mph. There’s also a mode that simulates the behaviour of a DCT gearbox, plus the ability to change the sound emitted by the 5 N: either a straightforward 2.0-litre turbo, something akin to the RN22e concept, or an actual twin-engine fighter jet. Fighter jets all day long, please.

You get a spaceframe long and wide enough to take two full-sized adults in proper Cobra Racing bucket seats, a 38bhp electric motor and eight swappable, modular battery packs that make up 14.4kWh of juice. That’s enough for roughly 68 miles of off-road driving or 125 miles on-road if you’re careful.
Brakes are by Brembo, springs are by Eibach, adjustable dampers by Bilstein. Tyres are Maxxis front and rear on 14s, and there’s not much else to it. Although the first 100 Launch Edition cars do get a little plaque and a limited edition Wild One R/C car included in the price. Which is £35,000 (excluding VAT and shipping), by the way, so not beans.
There’ll be a cheaper one later, possibly that you can build yourself, possibly without the road-legal bits (windscreen, lights, wipers, number plates etc), but that’s all yet to be finalised.
And if that sounds expensive, then it probably is, for a toy. But for a little car that makes absolutely everyone grin when they see it, it’s cheap at half the price.

Curious to dive into the cult of the wagon, TopGear magazine’s Ollie Kew arranged a meet-up with ten of the West Coast’s biggest wagon fanatics, and took along the latest, greatest, fastest Audi Avant yet: the new 631bhp, £110,000 RS6 Performance.
It’s the best RS6 ever, and proof Audi is getting the hang of an entertaining chassis… but at TG’s Festival of Wagon, it was the old-timers (and their owners) that were the real stars of the show.

It will be V8 only. No hybrid assistance to give a useful power (and weight…) boost, either. The final figures are 671bhp and 590lb ft. More than either the Porsche or Ferrari can muster. 0-62mph in 3.6secs since you’re asking, and still a 202mph top end.
UK pricing hasn’t yet been announced. But prices are going to have stepped up markedly – and deservedly – from the DB11. Expect a £185,000 starting point.
So, is Aston’s mission to become a genuine sporting brand, rather than a touring one, finally taking shape? TopGear Magazine’s Ollie Marriage heads to Monaco to drive the DB12 and find out.

The Emily GT has the potential to revolutionise the way we design vehicles. Why? Because it has four electric motors housed within each of its 18-inch wheels. Together, they produce 424bhp, powered by a whopping 174kWh battery, which means it should be capable of over 600 miles on a single charge.
The company behind the in-wheel motors, Protean Electric, claims they offer numerous benefits over conventional EV designs. So, we sent Top Gear Magazine’s Tom Ford to see what all the fuss is about.

For real transformation, step inside. Almost all traces of Mercedes switchgear have been eradicated as Aston has taken the infotainment in-house. Hopefully that’ll be a good thing.
Most importantly, it looks like it means business. The bodywork has been skilfully enhanced. It leans towards the brutish muscularity of the DBS, but modernises those lines with more defined creases. The way the wheels pack the arches, the enlarged intakes, the curvature of the bonnet and broad haunches – it’s a sharp piece of design.
It looks and feels a more serious driving tool. And that should hopefully allow it to plug the gaping hole between the wonderfully weighty Bentley Conti GT and the hyperactively flighty Ferrari Roma.

It’s an all-electric hypercar. Afraid so people. There’s no word on exact power, or driven wheels, but the claim is a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio and given Porsche’s involvement with Rimac, it’s safe to assume there’s a hint of Nevera in there somewhere.
Porsche hasn’t admitted it’s going into production, so there’s no price or build numbers are yet. But you don’t give yourself a whopping present like this and then bury it in a dusty warehouse for eternity.
It’s a track-focused electric hypercar, likely to set benchmarks by which all others will be judged. Mission X: is this the hypercar to take us beyond the petrol era?

These days, the Shuttle is retired and its runway is a proving ground for testing some of the world’s fastest cars. The 1,578bhp Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is certainly that, but it’s also often derided as a folly – an impractical machine which, like the Space Shuttle, cost too much money to develop. But is that fair? We didn’t think so.

The combination allows for pretty brutal acceleration: in the US the Model S Plaid has been clocked at 2.11 seconds to 62mph from rest, 4.19s to 100mph, 6.99s to 130mph and 0-150mph in 9.17 seconds. The quarter-mile was completed in 9.248 seconds at just over 150mph. It beats the Chiron up to 100mph.
So what does this Track Package add, then? Well, hopped-up battery conditioning for one, some different settings for the air suspension, and more aggressive torque vectoring. It’s the hardware that’s the most obvious though. For roughly £16,000 in the UK, you also get the carbon-ceramic brake package, high-temp brake fluid, and a ‘Zero-G’ wheel and tyre package that includes 20-inch lightweight wheels and Goodyear Supercar 3R tyres.

Having competed for the first time in 2022, Audi Sport was no longer a rookie; the Neuburg outfit had a year’s worth of experience, multiple stage successes and an Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge win under its belt. Plus, for this year, a lighter, more aerodynamic and fully optimised version of its RS Q e-tron – the unique, daring and brain scrambling Dakar racer with an alternative drive concept that combines an electric drivetrain with a high-voltage battery and a highly efficient energy converter.
The updated RS Q e-tron proved its inherent speed with 14 stage podiums and three days spent in the overall lead, plus a stellar reliability record that showed electrified powertrains can comfortably battle with more traditional internal combustion engines on sand, in floods, through mountain passes and over enormous desert dunes.
But after winning the Prologue on New Year’s Eve, coming first in a further 14 stages, and completing 8,895km of driving through the heart of Saudi Arabia, Audi crossed the finish line and ended the 2023 Dakar with a sense of unfinished business.
“The Dakar showed that it’s one of the hardest races in the world,” Rolf Michl, Managing Director of Audi Sport, said. “This year, it was really tough. Your world can change within one day. Of course, it was the decision that Audi Sport went to the Dakar to prove that electrification can stand up to these hardest of conditions. The technology works very well. For me, the end of the Dakar Rally 2023 is really the beginning of the preparation for Dakar 2024. Our preparation starts now. For sure, we will be back even stronger!”

So, why are we in the Arctic Circle, invading Hyundai’s secret testing programme for its new 600bhp, £70,000 hot hatch? Well, this is a big one: the first all-electric N car, and an EV that promises more than just straight-line performance. Hyundai’s engineers insist the effort they’re making up here means this car with corner, steer and drift like a proper performance hero.

Well, here’s the bit you couldn’t see before: the outside. And it’s… a Cayenne. Sharper headlights and grilles up front, and a lower home for the numberplate at the back. What, were you expecting a design revolution? From the company that brought you the 911?
Where the engineers have been busy is underneath. The standard suspension’s been tweaked: new valves in the dampers mean the Cayenne’s apparently comfier at low speeds, and better controlled when you’re going quickly. Spec optional air suspension and you’ll apparently now notice more of a difference between the Normal, Sport and Sport Plus settings.
More concerned with how the car behaves in Nuremberg than the Nürburgring? Then enjoy the fact the Cayenne is now clever enough to know when it’s going into a tunnel and automatically turn on its cabin air supply filtration system, to catch any pollutant particles entering the car and getting breathed in.
Speaking of air quality, you might want to drive your Cayenne around emitting no pollution out of the tailpipes now and again. So, the £76k V6 plug-in hybrid version’s had a proper update. The motor is more powerful, boosted to 176hp, the battery is more efficient, it charges faster, and you can go up to 56 miles on all-electric power. That’s twice the claimed range of the old plug-in Cayenne.
The engine department has been busy rummaging under the bonnet too. For £67,400, the entry level Cayenne is now 350hp twin-turbo V6. The £80k Cayenne S has graduated back to a 4.0-litre, 474hp bi-turbo V8 good for 0-62 in 4.8 seconds.
There’ll be a Cayenne Turbo along in a while, but the ultimate Turbo GT version; Porsche’s answer to the Lambo Urus Performante and Aston Martin DBX707 is being dropped from Europe, because of emissions targets. Naturally you’ll still be able to buy your Cayenne in more rakish ‘coupe’ flavour, which costs around £3,000 extra.

Okay then, here’s a good’un: the lightweight package, which adds things like a carbon fibre roof to your two-point-something-tonne SUV, shaves 33kg off the kerbweight of a Cayenne Coupe. Now, we don’t normally do passenger rides at Top Gear, but when three-time Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti gives you a ring to ask if you want a lift, you don’t say no. Especially when it involves some flat-out runs so we can hear that naturally aspirated V12 scream as he works the six-speed manual gearbox. And – best of all – as it's a three-seater, it meant both Top Gear Magazine’s Jack Rix and Ollie Marriage could both have a go. And then pincer Dario with questions at 180mph.

Don’t be fooled by the all-electric powertrain: it’s rear-wheel drive courtesy of a motor on each of the back wheels, delivering a playful 375hp and 516lb ft. Renault reckons on 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 124mph, but stops short of predicting what range you’ll get from the 42kWh battery. Presumably, because you can’t get a WLTP rating when sideways…
At 1.5 tonnes (520kg of that is battery cells) it’s a good deal heavier than the cars that inspired it, but a tubular chassis, protected flat base and FIA-approved roll cage should provide plenty of stiffness when engaging that impossible-to-miss handbrake. Which Top Gear Magazine’s Ollie Marriage wasn’t allowed to touch. But that doesn’t mean we didn’t drift it.

The T.33 Spider is of course the second T.33 model announced after the hard-top coupe back in 2021, so lots of the stats and facts are familiar. The bespoke naturally aspirated 3.9-litre drives the rear wheels. Only 100 examples will be built. There are two seats inside (choose either left- or right-hand drive) and thanks to a luggage compartment in the nose and two lockers ahead of the rear wheels concealed by beautiful rear-hinged blades, there’s a total of 295 litres of luggage capacity. That’s about a third more than you get from, say, a Ferrari 296 Spider. But you’d expect that, given this costs about six times as much…

The windscreen is flat because that uses less glass than a curved one. Aero isn’t important in town. What if we’ve gone wrong with supersized lithium-hungry batteries? The Oli’s is just 40kWh. But that’s good enough for 248 miles of range – twice the endurance of a Honda e for only 14 per cent more capacity – because it weighs half a tonne less. The Oli comes in at only 1,000kg, thanks to less soundproofing (EVs are already quiet), and a roof, bonnet and truck bed made from polyurethane-coated cardboard. So it’s waterproof, as strong as steel, but half the mass. And recyclable. It also drives. This brings us to an all-new Ford family hatchback: the Explorer. It’s a medium-sized all-electric crossover with five seats, a big square boot, and a chunky-but-friendly look about it. It’ll go on sale later this year with prices starting at less than £40,000, which slots it neatly between the current hybrid Kuga and the all-electric Mustang Mach-E. So, the question is whether Ford’s bold new unashamedly American-looking strategy will pay off everywhere else. Top Gear Magazine’s Senior Road Test Editor, Ollie Kew, takes a closer look.
