CinossuWell, here's something a bit different. Two remixes from Sonic 3 & Knuckles used for a 20th Anniversary animation, based on the wonderful written works of Nigel Kitching and artwork of Richard Elson, the beginning of Sonic the Comic's Running Wild arc, where Super Sonic really begins to take on a life of his own.
Yuski (http://www.youtube.com/user/FelipeYuski) about a month ago messaged me that he was preparing an animation for Sonic's 20th anniversary to be shown at Summer of Sonic 2011, and wondered if I wanted to help with the backing music. Of course, I said yes. Thus, this remix of Doomsday was born.
This one was actually made first, and made the intro to match the timing shown on the very first animation run that Yuski showed me. While that did lock down certain things within the animation and probably made the job a lot harder (sorry Yuski!) it certainly made the build-up that much more dramatic, especially at the part with the appearance of Super Sonic. Like the Hidden Palace track, this one goes on longer than the one in the video, as we had to end it where it did, so the whole build-up to the next loop you hear here, along with the additional loop of the song had to be stripped down for the credits sequence which just looped the little quieter bit. It worked well for the animation, definitely, with the timing, but I personally prefer the build-up to the next loop better. Much more dramatic(!)
If you were at Summer of Sonic yesterday, you got to experience the animation on a large screen projector along with myself and Tom (who did Sonic's voice), which was an amazing experience. (Especially everyone's reaction, really great seeing that(!)) If you didn't get to see it or just want to watch it again and hear it in more detail, and I suggest you do because Yuski's animation work on it is amazing, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLJOzTiw0aE
There is going to be more animated for it, but probably at a little bit of a slower rate as we don't have a month deadline to work to this time(!)

Enjoy!Sonic Superstars Speed Jungle BGM Edit - Wood ZoneCinossu2023-06-13 | So a version of the Sonic Superstars clip of "Speed Jungle", the one with Sonic 4 (and Sonic 4-esque) music, was uploaded without any BGM at all, just SFX. It seems to be a popular idea to reupload with new music of choice on top, ranging from Palmtree Panic to Jungle Zone, so I threw on the Wood Zone track I did from.. wow, 8 years ago at this point.
You can go here for the original no-BGM version of the video, full credit to them for this (and SEGA/Sonic Team, obviously): twitter.com/OnTheDownLoTho/status/1668116143654199296Celeste practices social distancing in Animal Crossing New HorizonsCinossu2020-05-04 | Thank you, Celeste, for being considerate during these times of quarantine.

So, this was a fun occurrence that happened about half an hour ago. I went to a friend's island and went to talk to Celeste, as you would. She was right by a doorway, and when I went to talk to her I just.. locked up. No talking, not able to move, just stuck there.
Celeste began to walk away at that point, which was great, as she had apparently paralysed me. She went to another (thankfully nearby) doorway, and then turns around and begins to talk. From all across the way. By this point the others on the island had noticed and came to investigate, as you can see.
And then, the denouement, she shuffles over a bit, chucks the recipe at me, and then everything unlocks back to normal.
I love this game.Hapi-San Live StreamCinossu2019-09-25 | ...Sonic the Hedgehog Extended Edition - 2017 PreviewCinossu2017-01-09 | .. it's back..?
.. Maybe.
So, long story short, I needed a distraction over the Winter, and I was working on basically putting together a small thing where it did the old intro, the title, and the fall-through the floor here and the "IT'S CANCELLED", and be done with it. But.. I enjoyed working on it, as I haven't done any of this in a year and a bit now. And I kept working on it. And then it all got fancier with fading in logos and the deformation with the island and the importing of the title screen animation from SegaSonic Arcade..
So yeah. I'm gonna keep working on it and see how it goes. Again.
Don't expect too much more to be shown, as I don't know when or what I'll get done. But let's see what I can do in time for SHC2017, hm?Aquarium Park - Mega Drive MixCinossu2014-12-31 | About time I put another one of these on Youtube, hm? :U I need to make a whole set of these from my SoundCloud. Welcome to Sonic Colours, Aquarium Park, if it were back in the good ol' days of the Mega Drive.
I love doing these occasionally, when I'm not thinking of tune mashups; taking a track and trying to get it working under different conditions and restrictions. This one was actually fun to do, and done over about a week's time in total. This was also one of my favourite tracks and levels from Sonic Colours, so that helped motivate to make, ha ha.
As always, this is actually playing through Mega Drive hardware, *not* just through VOPM and soundfonts. I do WIPs in that, sure, but not the final upload.

What could possibly be different about this one? Is it the Sonic Retro screen? Is it the ending win pose? Is it the.. well, watch and see.Theme of Sonic Retro (Space Harrier) Full MixCinossu2012-06-28 | Right, here's the full mix of this. Why is there this version now? Because silly me forgot a whole section of the music. That's what I get for doing the whole thing from memory in the first place. I've made some small improvements here and there throughout, but the whole missing section is obviously the focal point here.
Here's the old description, for more info:
"Some of you may have seen a certain splash screen in ROM hacks advertising Sonic Retro on this here channel, with a small remix of a certain Space Harrier theme. Since then, it seems to have become synonymous with Sonic Retro itself.
Here's a high-quality sequenced version, in full. :]
The "original" jingle for the ROM hack actually is based off of the one in Rent-A-Hero, when I was first getting into SMPS stuff. While I couldn't get the instruments right at the time, nor the drums for obvious reasons, I liked it the way it was and it stuck. Then an HD version came about for a possible splash in S2HD, also on this channel here somewhere.. and then I extended it into this. :U

Enjoy~Sonic the Hedgehog Remix ~ Mega Drive Mega Boss Mega MixCinossu2012-05-05 | Oh boy, is this remix a doozy. A 10-minute monster of a doozy.
I started this last week, after listening to a BGM track from Lucky Star on the way home from work, thinking I recognised the bass synth, and attempting to emulate it that night myself in FL Studio. After that, I got to thinking about doing a new Sonic 2 boss remix. Now, those who know me will know I used to remix that tune a lot, and by a lot I mean it used to be the only thing I did music-wise for a good while. I hadn't for a long time, so I dropped that well known to me tune in and it just.. worked.
However, I was never really happy with it just as that, as it never sounded complete enough to me. So, I thought, I'd throw in another boss tune, originally just the Sonic 3K boss, but then I pitched the whole thing up by 3 semitones and I knew I wanted the Sonic 1 Final Boss in there next instead. So, in that went.
The key change from C back to A came after I decided to make it one big remix of boss tunes, and I put in the Sonic 3K Boss and then Miniboss at this point. Fun fact from remixes past; the Sonic 2 Boss theme, the Sonic 3K Miniboss theme, and the Sonic 3K Boss theme can all share the same chords and work almost perfectly.
The final tune added to this was one I'd never touched before, but always liked, the second boss music from the Mega Drive Sonic 3D. Those chords were tricky getting right, but they did in the end.
And, after tying everything together, out popped this mega 10 minute remix of Mega Drive Sonic boss themes. I am extremely happy with it, all of it, for a change. (Yes, even the drums!)
Serving suggestions include turning up both the volume and the bass. I've already blown out one good set of headphones working on this(!)
As always, enjoy, and I'd love to hear some feedback on this one!Sonic Colours ~ Tropical Resort Act 2 ~ SMPS VersionCinossu2012-01-07 | More SMPS Sonic Colours goodness, again playing with the portamentos and a lot more obvious this time. This time it's Tropical Resort Act 2.
For those that are wondering, yes this is actually coming out of a Mega Drive, NOT VOPM and soundfonts in FL Studio.
Another fun fact about the portamentos - I forgot to reset a register fully to 0, so FM portamentos were screwing up. This took me a whole hour to find. Stupid little errors are what always get me in programming. D:
Enjoy~Sonic Colours ~ Planet Wisp Act 1 ~ SMPS VersionCinossu2011-11-28 | Something a little different, an SMPS version of Sonic Colours's Planet Wisp Act 1 music. Done to test out some code for the SMPS portamentos (the pitch bending on the bass and square waves you hear), and it came out lovely indeed. :U

Fun fact with the portamentos - I've been working on that code on-off for 2 years, and only just got it finished. Yup, that's how lazy I can be with something like this. :P

Welcome to my latest ROM hack, Sonic the Hedgehog OmoChao Edition. Be prepared to throw your computer at the wall, or at least be very annoyed. :U
The basic premise is that now, floating behind you through the whole of Sonic 1, is OmoChao, trying to be helpful by telling you about things you do.
However, it just ends up more annoying than not, as it plays a jingle and freezes gameplay as it happens. Even more annoying is that the jingle gets longer each time you play!

10. Sonic is on the Emerald, as usual, when he spots Amy on the right, and runs away as she gives chase.STC Running Wild Animation Music - Hidden Palace Zone (STC Mix) - SOS2011Cinossu2011-06-26 | Well, here's something a bit different. Two remixes from Sonic 3 & Knuckles used for a Sonic 20th Anniversary animation, based on the wonderful written works of Nigel Kitching and artwork of Richard Elson, the beginning of Sonic the Comic's Running Wild arc, where Super Sonic really begins to take on a life of his own.
Thus, this remix of Hidden Palace was born.
This one goes on longer than the one shown in the animation, as we got the timing down to fit one single loop of the song perfectly (gotta love it when things come together perfectly like that), so there's multiple loops of the track before it finishes here. This track actually took a number of restarts before getting it right, something that tends to happen to me. I'll work on a remix for an hour, listen to it, not be happy with it and scrap it, and then restart the next day on it from scratch until I get it right. After.. 4 tries, I think, with this one, did I finally get it sounding like this. (No, I don't have any versions of the scrapped mixes left, so there's no point in asking!)
Enjoy!Nyan Cat ~ Orchestral MixCinossu2011-05-10 | There comes a time in the year when coursework is due for university. This is one of those times, and what do I do instead? Create an orchestral cover of the Nyan Cat music, of course! c.c;
Fun to make, mainly with the Philharmonik VST, it took a while to get this sounding good. In the end, pitching everything up by 1 made everything sound better, and that's why it's like that. Don't like it? Deal with it. :P
Enjoy!Sonic Retro Splash Screens (Screens 8 - 9)Cinossu2011-03-12 | Two new Sonic Retro advertisement screens. Made a topic on Sonic Retro about it, and people suggested more ideas to me. These were two of them, with a few changes.
8. Sonic is waiting as normal on the Emerald, when a Sonic 2 Beta Sonic runs in, crashes into the Emerald, and falls over.
9. Eggman is on the Emerald, laughing, when he panics, runs away, and Sonic, Tails and Knuckles chase after him.
Yeah, I'll be making more too. :U Eventually, anyway.Sonic Retro Splash Screens (Screens 1 - 7)Cinossu2011-03-11 | A set of Splash Screens I did advertising Sonic Retro, used in a number of my ROM hacks. They play on sequential restarts/ROM opens by storing which one previously played in SRAM.
Here's a list of them all, in order:
1. Knuckles runs in, complaining at Sonic standing on the S2Beta Emerald
2. Eggman comes in from the left in his Egg-O-Matic, steals/grabs the Emerald, and leaves to the right.
3. Sonic and Tails, Sonic 2 style (ie. the SWS2B logo), are on the Emerald. Sonic 1 styled Sonic runs in, obviously not pleased with them in his place.
4. Mecha Sonic (from Sonic 3 & Knuckles) is dormant at first, then powers up and jumps on to the Emerald.
5. 8-Bit style, with Sonic 1 SMS-styled Sonic and all. Music is changed to fit, and so is slightly lengthier than the others.
6. Sonic 3 & Knuckles styled Sonic and Emerald, and again Sonic 1 styled Sonic runs in, obviously not pleased.
7. A barren Emerald, with a Fat Sonic (sprites from Sonic 2 XL) waddling in slowly from the left. He doesn't manage to reach the Emerald before falling over, though.
Aaaand, that's all of them.. for now. :USSRG Splash ScreenCinossu2011-03-11 | A splash screen I made advertising SSRG (Sonic Stuff Research Group) a while ago.
Despite it being old, I still really like it.
Uploaded so I could enter it in the 'SSRG Splash Screen Competition'. I thought "why not". :PSonic 4 ~ Splash Hill Zone Act 1 (Sonic 2 Emerald Hill Zone Mix)Cinossu2011-02-20 | Here's Splash Hill Zone Act 1, done in the style of Sonic 2's Emerald Hill Zone.
Fun to make, and a pain to get the instruments working with VOPM. I had to make my own rips as the ones I had already were missing a crucial instrument, and the usual fun with getting timed LFO modulation working. Oh, and those few intro bars, trololololo~
Random Fun Fact/Discussion Point: To make Sonic 4 music sound more in-line with the classics, I transpose the pitch down by 5. So far, it's worked with every track. Mayhaps that's another reason why the music sounds so bad on the actual game?
Yeah, I might do more of these, I might not. Depends on my mood. :U
