Our Sacrificial Poet Aditya Narayan isn't sure where he belongs - Scotland, India, on a spoken word stage, or in his own head. He writes poetry to figure this out, brushing themes of love, memory, loss, grief, time and home. He's something of a serial finalist, having made it to the top 3 of the Loud Poets Grand Slam, the Scottish National Slam Championship, and at the time of writing this, the Roundhouse Poetry Slam (editor’s note - he won!!!). A powerful duet of poems pleading for empathy, by Inga Dale accompanied by Jack Hinks.Inga Dale has performed at various Spoken Word events in Cape Town and was also interviewed on a local radio station called Bush Radio. She relocated to Edinburgh in 2019 and to date has performed at Sofar Sounds in Edinburgh and Glasgow, the Heart and Home event by the Edinburgh International Festival, the Edinburgh Multicultural Festival, Push The Boat Out Festival, and Our Stories, a collaboration between The Skinny Magazine and the David Livingstone Birthplace Museum. In addition, her poem Black Identity was featured on the platform of the African Caribbean Society of Scotland during Black History Month, and her poem Africa Rise was also featured on Zya, a Scotland-based community interest media company supporting women and marginalized communities. Tom Bird - From the Dirt, Up || Spoken Word Poetry || I Am Loud Productions 2025-05-09 | Rewind to December 2024 and our final showcase of the year at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, featuring EmmaClaire Brightlyn, Mike Yuill, Tom Bird, and Ben Macpherson.From Tom Bird, a gorgeous celebration of their trans identity.Tom Bird (they/them) is a Dundee-based writer and poet, and performer in poetry-music duo, 2 Stoned Birds. Frequently autobiographical and honest, there is a warmth and hopefulness to their spoken word poetry. Tom reflects on autistic lived experience and trans identity out loud, while holding attention for the quietly fantastical. In 2022, they were the recipient of the Creative Non-Fiction award and Jury Prize at the SMHAF Writing Competition. In 2023, Tom won the title of East Coast Champion at the Loud Poets Slam East Coast Heat. This year their poetry film ‘Creature That Breathes’ has been exhibited at Neuk Collective’s members exhibition in Edinburgh and at Pittenweem Arts Festival. Fiona Jane blew the roof off the theatre with this powerful poem decrying religious homophobia, in collaboration with musician Jack Hinks.The quotation in Polish is the Bible verse John 4:18: “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear.”Fiona Jane is a spoken word poet and a notorious slammer (of poetry, not tequila). You can find her at Glasgow and Edinburgh open-mics talking queerness, bodies and belonging, all while making friends with other poets. Her poem ‘Loving Tongue’ has been published in Butch-Femme press, and tireless work is underway towards her first self-published poetry pamphlet later this year. Worst enemies include: English grammar, punctuation and writing about herself in the third person; her strengths lie in: her girlfriend who edits all of her work (including love poems about the women that came before her), and anything sapphic.
