Lyrics: Benny, can you hear me? I just called to see if you’re ok Such a crying shame the way it all went down the other day Have you heard the latest? Yeah, why’s everybody gotta be so lame? Everyone but you that is, my friend I’m proud of you, you’re doing great
God forgive me I forgot again Remind me why I’m here? Circling the drain, occasionally coming up for air What the hell, I thought I did the work already, will it ever end? Wanna take a walk around the block? You look like you could use a friend
All the things you do instead of all the things you say you do How much of your personality’s a coping mechanism you developed at an early age to tolerate the intolerable? Now the armor’s falling off and I can see you’re brave and capable
I was feeling kinda thirsty, pushing thirty, fell into a trap Call me back to call me out “C’mon, Johanna, let’s just cut the crap I don’t think you even know the names of everyone you’ve ever fucked Girl you’ve got a problem, I’ll keep you in my prayers and wish you luck”
I was so afraid of pain I went and caused a lot of pain I can see it clearly now but couldn’t then, it’s such a crying shame Maybe you should try to think of someone other than yourself How much of your sense of self revolves around somebody else?
Maybe you were just as sick as me in your own special way There’s a part of you that wants the part of me that’s not ok How much of your faith is truth distorted into lies disguised as truth Fake it til you make it, father’s crocodile tears abuse the youth They can see it clearly now but couldn’t when they looked the other way Glory be to God and glory be to those who choose to walk away

Each song on "The Night of the Wind" EP takes its lyrics directly from the original book, which follows a shape-shifting faerie queen as she eats lots of foraged floral snacks, hangs out with some singing caterpillars, and takes lots of naps.

Music and lyrics by Johanna Warren http://johannawarren.com From the album Gemini I (Spirit House Records 2016)
"White Owl" In my dreams I will come to seek you out. When I sleep, I'll become a white owl and fly out of my window and into your window, and rematerialize as myself and wrap my snowy, naked limbs around you... So, so happy I found you.
I used to think I was a one-of-a-kind. Then, in the blink of an eye, you appeared to show me I was blind. And now I can see everything, and it's all beautiful; you made me realize all the stories I told were just lies that used to sound true. So, so happy I found you.
Out of the black, foreboding skies, you are the sun that never fails to rise. And when the shadows cover me, you're the moon, I am your faithful sea rising with you as you shine on me.
Through your eyes, I've learned to see myself clearly. I used to despise the poor girl inside the mirror, but now I just pretend that I'm looking at you looking right back at me. You show me the beauty that I never could see. So, so happy you found me.
