A: This was done on current patch (1.5.78). On earlier patches there are a few things that would make this challenge different namely, being able to open inventory mid-dash (which would help spacing some of the more finicky setups), and pogoing clouds (which would allow for different strats in some rooms).
Q: What charms are you using?
A: Dashmaster, Sharp Shadow, Spell Twister, Mark of Pride Grubsong and Dream Wielder. Dashmaster, Sharp Shadow and Spell Twister are all necessary, at least for the strats I was going for. The other charms were quality of life additions.
Q: It says you unlock void heart at the end. What's that about?
A: I was lazy when creating the save file I used for this challenge, so I just gave myself all charms and notches using debug mod. Having void heart already was a side effect of that.
Q: Okay, but what about Path of Pain?
A: No
10:13 Getting this grub before Hornet doesn't save time but makes ekey geo free. Purely movement wise it saves 0.8s to get the grub at this time, but you lose that not skipping Hornet dialog and less soul in general for the fight.
1:46:39 Movement through this room saves about 2s over what was done previously. Also avoids the spider under the grub which is nice.
1:02:23 Delaying deep focus to after the kp grimm flame saves about 2.5s and gives more soul for fighting the crystal guardians. Optimally you would double the kp grimm flame to have enough soul to dive and break the deep focus wall, but in practice I wasn't consistent getting the double so I chose the break the wall during the cheart split. Alternatively you could charge a cyclone to break the wall.
42:37 Doing Lost Kin directly after Broken Vessel, then getting the grub after the wings quitout saves just under 1s.
1:06:40 Placing a DG at Dirtmouth instead of King's Station saves 6s but means going through waterways into fungal without shade cloak. Most notably this makes the Grimm flame much tougher to deal with, and to deal with the Ogre you need to gather more soul to fluke it or damage tank through if you have the health.
1:30:23 Quitting out of mask shards where you can dream gate with early control saves 1s on full upgrades(after Lemer) and 3s on partial fragments(Queen station shard). I was experimenting with the old DG placement before no eyes and quitting out the overgrown mound shard as well. I haven't timed this and am unsure if it's worth.

Basically how this glitch is preformed is by pausing the game while you're hovering, then deactivate the hover badge, and then pressing the jump button again when Hat Kid starts shaking will activate the glitch.It doesn't seem very practical for a speed run because of the slow rate of climbing, and the fact that it seems impossible to deactivate the glitch without exiting the level. However it is still a fun glitch to mess around with.
EDIT: You can do a similar glitch with both the dash badge, and the owl's brew badge. When preforming this glitch with the dash badge it allows you to dash without depletion of any meter. This would be very useful for speed runs. When preforming this glitch with the owl's brew badge, it constantly has the animation of it charging up, and when it is in this state it is impossible to throw.
